    It has a MicroUSB input for charging. Unsure if it comes with charger, but can use any USB charger with a MicroUSB cable.

  Is DAB comparable to internet streams?

  For example, I'd love to have a hardware device that receives Double J and plugs straight into my stereo, rather than having to turn on my media centre, tv, mess around with an interface, etc.

  Are there any cheap DAB boxes about (with output only, no speaker)?

    Yes you can get Double J on DAB, (assuming you live in a metro area within range of DAB broadcast)

    You can buy HiFi system DAB tuners, but they're not cheap ones, but they exist.
    Better to find a cheap one (with speaker) with headphone output, like this one.

    Hard to say, but likely no… DAB signal has FM range

    Maybe ask around work to see if someone can bring one in.

    the few reviews on Product Review slag it for reception.

    I think most areas have poor reception. I'd suggest a Sangean. A mate had one whist we were paintng inside both our hosues, reception was great. I couldn't justify the $100+ price tag, so I tried several other cheapies and they all had terrible reception. and I'm on a bit of a hill less then 10km from Melb CBD.

      Agree. Picked up a S120 Sangean for $13 years ago from Dick Smith. Placed together, the cheapies drop out completely while the Sangean has no issues. The "Digital Cliff" means there is either good or no reception.

    It the poor signal is due to lots of interference from computers etc. making listening to AM (cricket) impossible, this might fix that.

        @Infidel: I find it more convenient to turn on a dedicated radio device, but yes now that everyone has fairly large data allowance digital radio not as interesting. I just calculated non-stop streaming of 128kbps would be 40GB of data usage a month.

        That's why I bought ($9 Kmart & $13 Sangean) DAB+ radios in the past. I only access limited data via mobile. But my radio use has gone down - mainly used while soaking in bath🛀

        With more unlimited data availability & SIMs with data free steaming, it is now effectively free to stream. Same with PVRs - less useful now with catchup tv & streaming services.

        @Infidel: I reckon a few thinks killed DAB+

        1) The low transmission power due to the whingeing of commercial radio stations in satellite cities like Gold Coast, Newcastle, Woolongong, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo As they didnt want their capital city counterparts infringing on their space. Which resulted in patchy (at best) coverage, in the cities. Also meant that it was expensive to roll out into non-metro areas, so it wasn't.

        2) The lack of AM in nearly all DAB+ devices. WTF was that all about? Most people don't listen to little radios for music, it's all about talk/sports,etc which is mostly AM stations. SO why would I buy a device which can't tune into AM when DAB coverage is patchy/non-existant?

        3) There's a much much bigger choice via TuneIn radio,etc on the internet.

        DAB+ was seen as alternative to AM with most AM stations broadcasting on DAB+. So no point seen in having AM & DAB+ on same radio.

        Low demand for DAB+ meant it hasn't left the major capitals. That's also where freeing up radio spectrum is of most use & most valuable.

    Most have 20 presets. DAB+ radios are generally built around pretty generic DAB+/FM modules. Presets are normally 10 each for DAB+ & FM. Differences between units are mainly in amplifier, battery, outputs & case design.

    DgTech rebadge other manufacturers product, so the same unit - only cheaper & easier returns👍

    I'm still using $9 Kmart DAB+ radios from old deal. The module inside is same as in many other brands - photos of internals posted.
