5% FJ Points Reward with PayPal payments @ FromJapan (Japanese Mail Forwarder and Auctions), Rate: 1 point = 1 yen

40

Useful for site like amazon.jp and rakuten. You use this site to search for the item selling on an external website, bid/buy, and once it reaches their depot, you customise shipping options. Don't think these guys have the cheapest forwarding service but I find them easy to use and have had no problems. Last used it on an ak70 mkii case, which sells for a premium anywhere else.

Their conditions:

"To be eligible for the promotional campaign, your bid must be placed between December 1, 0:00 JST and December 2, 23:59 JST.

In case you are outbidded, in order to get the discount, you must place a new bid within the promotion period. We appreciate your care by checking your bid from time to time.

The 5% FJ Point reward from this promotion will be added to your account once we ship your item(s), ready to use for your next purchase with us.

Depending on the circumstances of the sellers, there may be cases where a transaction cannot be made. In these cases your purchase will not be eligible for the campaign."

This is a regular promo they run often. Their service is great however I’ve stopped using them due to the fact they’ve had to start charging GST on the final cost.

    • Really? That sucks. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I bought the Astell case in early April so didn't know.

      News item dated 2018.09.20 https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/en/news

      • bleh!

    • Yeah pretty much this. I've been actively buying stuff through them for the past couple of years, with their regular 10% off Rakuten etc it was pretty easy to get stuff you can't get here. Haven't bought much ever since they've started charging 10% GST in September.

check mercari, the japanese gumtree. zozotown is also good for clothes, especially second hand stuff.

dont expect cheaper PC hardware from Japan!

    • How do those sites make money?

      • they control the shipping of a product, and put their fee on top of that.
for example, when my wife sold some clothes, she gets an email with a barcode, takes the packaged items to the post office, scan the barcode which prints the shipping information, and the receiver pays when they pick it up. wife gets money in her account, minus shipping and percentage fee. who knows if gumtree might do something similar and effective in the future

  • The fact that people are saying that they stopped buyer o/s because of GST is exactly why they introduced it - to avoid the unfair advantage. So the policy worked.
