[Negotiated Deal] Telstra Casual Unlimited Broadband Plan + Google Home Mini + Telstra TV $89/Month & No Cancellation Fees

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Just my 2nd post so go easy.. :)
I have seen a similar offer but managed to get the Telstra TV2 (added in as well via chat) + No Installation Fees($90 waived) + No casual fee ($240 waived). Sounded too good for me to jump from my Optus Plan(ridiculous speeds of 3-4mbps!)
Here goes the details:
$89/mth
Plan Details - Unlimited Bundle
Price per month & total minimum cost $89 per month
• with Telstra TV 2 $0 and Google Home Mini
Plan and Call Inclusions Inclusions
• Unlimited monthly data allowance
• Unlimited Local, National, and Mobile calls to standard numbers in Australia
• Family Calls Benefit (responsible use policy applies)
Charges apply for usage above these allowances, or usage not included in the plan

Just the goodies are worth it in my humble opinion to switch.. and if not satisfied, we can simply switch back without and plan cancellation fees ;)

    • Telstra TV is just a smart box with an antenna cable, no hard drive, IMO fetch tv is better

  • I got similar deal, without ttv and mini, but with speed booster. I have plenty boxes so ttv means less value to me.

  • +2

    FYI, tho no cancellation fee

$100 Temporary connection charge for new services if cancelled withing 3 months.

    From live chat

    • Just cancelled mine. No fee. 30day NBN satisfaction guarantee waived all of it and you keep the hardware. I just connected to compare fixed wireless speeds with my current provider and yep on a 50mbps connection I am still getting well under 6mbps but NBN claim there’s no issue and it’s within the acceptable parameters.

  • Do you have to return Google Mini and Telstra TV if you cancel the plan??

    • I don’t think so but I’d imagined you’d okay a hefty cancellation fee

      • Not with the jbhifi deal

  • +1

Thanks OP. I placed an order a few weeks ago from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/416170

After your post, I did live chat with Telstra and they were happy to offer me Telstra TV free of charge as the new Telstra customer.

    Thanks again!

    • Me too

  • How are these Telstra TV boxes and Fetch boxes? I assume you can use it without being on Telstra? Is there anything these can do that my PS4 can't?
My local op shops always seem to be selling them cheap so I wonder if that's because people pay for plans and never end up using them or if they're useless

    • +1

I was with Optus and using fetch tv for years. When they turned off their cable plans I switched to ABB and continued to use the fetch tv for another year or so until it asked for a subscription and stopped working, so you don't have to be on the same internet provider you bought it from.
It has a few good channels that I watched regularly.

  • Got it. Thanks! Hopefully the telstra TV will come with 24 months free foxtel now like the $99 plan

  • Thanks, OP!

I tried to get the speed boost (as noted above), but they strongly refused it and claimed it wasn't possible and all sorts of excuses. I did manage to get your offer (Telstra tv, home mini, no casual or new customer fees) plus the 24 months of foxtel now! I was pretty excited about this. I almost signed up, but the Optus cancellation fees would have been $350 which was a no go for me.

So I have downgraded my optus plan to the casual one for $80, and I'm hoping that with the transcript, Telstra will be able to match that offer at a later date. I also heard that you could get a $100 welcome credit if you sign up over the phone, so might be worth to give that a try!

    • If you weren't moving ISP's now then why downgrade your plan and pay 80 bucks..

      • I am. I'll be going with telstra once the downgrade goes through (24 hrs). So essentially I'll be paying $80 to downgrade instead of $350 to cancel.

        • Oh, I must've misunderstood what you meant, nice loophole :)

          • +1

@doot: Heh. It happens to me all the time. What I think often doesn’t translate to what I write. I posted the loop hole in case anyone found it useful, cheers!

So if I cancel even after a month you could keep the mini + TTV ? Does this included a Telstra modem ?

  • what's the best deal that people have managed to negotiate for existing telstra nbn customers?

  • Just managed to secure a deal via live chat. Took from 11:30am until 1:33pm. Bit of info:

    1) The deal is for my mum's house and she is already with Telstra cable with Foxtel cable platinum and paying a lot for it.

    2) She's out of contract now.

    3) I have tried negotiating with live chat last week with no luck.

    4) No NBN in her area.

So I connected via live chat after seeing this post. Really, I was ok with the $99 plan as long as I could get a new modem - mainly for the backup mobile connection - would have been good to get the home mini as well. However, they are only available for new customers and I would have had to pay $9/month for the modem. I was given the usual - "I wish to help you with further discounts however our authorities are limited. we can only offer what the website allows or shows." That got me a bit p***** off - I hate the sales bullshit.

The only way to get what I was after was to cancel and re-apply for the deal as a new customer. So I thought, what have I got to lose. Live chat lady (Roselle) put me through to accounts as I wanted to check on cancelling. I told the new live chat lady (Amrender) I was a bit unhappy with the offer and was thinking of cancelling. She immediately asked what my expectations were.

To cut a long story short, I told her about the deal I saw here and that I could send her the link. Didn't have to send her the link, and she went away for a bit to talk to someone else for a few minutes. She came back and was happy to go with the deal, on one condition - if I re-contracted for another 24 months. Since we've had very little problems with Telstra, why not.

I then tried to negotiate the $99 deal (it has Foxtel Now included) with 2 Telstra Tv boxes included (as we have more than one TV) but she wouldn't go with that. But I'm happy to go without Foxtel for now as my mum is away and am able to add that later.

Just now she has asked me if I want to go with the deal:

Your Unlimited Home Broadband plan has an ongoing monthly cost of $89.00.

You have Telephone, BigPond Standard Speed - Cable services. Your next bill will include your monthly costs, any one-off connection and part-month charges and will total around $66.27. You'll receive a detailed estimate via email at XXXX@XXXX
    shortly after this chat.

Are you happy to proceed with the order?

Also the new modem, TV2 and google mini included.

To which I say - hey, what is standard speed, can I have speed boost! I'll definitely go with the deal if you can get me speed boost. Few minutes later - ok, it's enabled.

Thanks Amrender - hope I get you next time I have to re-contract - that's what service to loyal, existing customers is about.

  • Did this on live chat a while back. Had just signed up a month ago on the $89 casual plan no connection or casual fee, but with no TTV2 or mini. Chatted again last week and got both. (Both received last Tuesday/Wednesday). Supposed to have been a $10 discount and the speed boost as well, but as yet nothing on that front.

Had a email to confirm so will wait and see. (was told it could take a while to process)

    • Update Got the lot after going back om live chat. Email to confirm as well.

  • Just signed up for this deal via online chat - she just had to check on the TTV part with someone and that was confirmed as available very quickly. $89 minimum charge unless cancelling within 3 months which is $100 charge. Lured me over from ABB with the free devices… will see if I am happy to stay around after 3 months…

  • I signed up to Telstra 3 months ago on the $69 plan because it was free installation, but last week finally got around to upgrading to the unlimited $89 plan. They recontracted me so I was able to get the Google Home Mini as well.

And today I was on the chat and managed to get Telstra TV thrown in as well. Thanks OP.

Because NBN is just now available, they wanted to recontract me to NBN, and I would get another Google Home Mini, but they wouldn't throw in speed boost. I'm super happy with cable for now.

  • Signed up today, with free telstra modem, google mini, telstra tv, speed boost and welcome credit ($ not known), no install/casual fee with $89 casual plan. Approached a few chats with a few different people, finally one guy was sucked in with all additional deals that I asked for.

    • Which agent was it mate? That is a ripper deal with speed boost. How much credit?
Are you new to Telstra? Not sure if renewals get the credit!

  • I signed up with Telstra cable in September. Has anyone been able to get the Google Home Mini added to an existing account? Live chat staff were not able to help. They said that offer is managed by specialist team and is for new sign ups

    • Are you on a contract? If not, read my post above.

  • +1

I did this on the last previous deal,

it was the $99 bundle with first month free, no contract & no casual plan fee with a free Telstra TV 2.

I canceled before the 30 days so paid nothing for month of internet and got to keep the Telstra TV2. I was hoping to use it for FTA connected to a monitor as I don't have a TV but that feature is blocked when you are not using Telstra internet.

    • Do you mean telstra tv is useless unless you have telstra internet?

  • Just managed free connection on the casual plan with Telstra TV included.

    • And the Google Mini too.

  • Managed to negotiate this as well
    casual plan unlimited
    no set up fees
    telstra tv + google mini

initially started the process online via chat, said I had to go so the consultant called me back and she was happy to offer the extras to me over the phone.

    • Same. Existing telstra customer for over 10 years, out of contract. Managed to get Telstra TV, google home mini and the modem on casual plan. No set up fee. Didn't ask about the cancellation as feeling like going in circle when chatting with them, also most likely will stay with them until NBN comes (in god knows moving target date).
Had to go through a few persons though, not all willing to give the offer.

  • I'm about to chat to a 4th consultant via online chat. All were willing to offer Telstra tv 2, no install, casual or new customer fees and 24 months of foxtel now but the speed boast for free (100/40) seems to be a real sticking point. None have been able to offer for free or discount this extra.

    • What? Foxtel 24months seemed impossible.
Did you sing on $99 plan?

      • I got free speed boost to $89 casual with all freebies plus $100 welcome credit but couldn’t get the Foxtel sub.

        • +2

Here is what I said to all 4 consultants I chatted to via online chat:

I'm interested in the casual unlimited plan for $89 per month with the free google home mini. A colleague from work told me they were also given some extras via online chat. If you could offer me the same deal I’d be happy to sign up now.

          • 100/40 speed boost,
          • Telstra tv 2,
          • No install, casual or new customer fees
          • 24 months of foxtel now.

3 of the 4 were able to offer everything (including Foxtel go for 24 months) except the speed boost. Most of them gave the same consistent message which was it was a different area that apply the speed boast and they have to run speed tests first of all to ensure you can actually get the speed on that tier which i reckon is bullshit but none would budge. About to chat to a 5th consultant to see if I can get it over the line.

          • @gidxg03: thanks for the wording and the summary of benefits, saved me some thinking time :)

          • @gidxg03: Thanks gidxg03!!! I more or less used what you wrote and was told yes to everything. Got the order id and Telstra ID but still waiting for Order Details, CIS etc.

    • foxtel now have different package. which one did you get?

  • Just wanted to know if anyone on existing ADSL plan managed to get Foxtel?

  • For those who were able to get the Foxtel Now 24 months included - how did the subscription arrive? Was it just in an email voucher code?

  • signing up now.
    $89/mth
    Plan Details - Unlimited Bundle
Price per month & total minimum cost $89 per month
    • with Telstra TV 2 $0 and Google Home Mini
    no connection or modem fees.
had to go on 24month plan though…

First consultant (over phone as i was transferred) was not helpful and did not provide a solution. Said with a premium speedpack i could get 200mbps (100mbps + 100mbps) on cable. 2nd consultant (on chat) was very helpful.

  • Got the casual 89 with mini ttv2 speed boost fees wavied..took a few online chats and phone calls. Was about to give up.. thanks for the post. Pleased to be getting away from optus

  • Telstra mentioned that Foxtel is only viewed as system detects if you are eligible and you will be able to redeem it. So to me $89 casual isn't possible to have access to Foxtel now?

    • I signed up they will start me on 50/20 and if that is deemed inadequate and subject to to a line test they will boost me to 100/40 for $0. I pushed pretty hard on Foxtel Now and they are forwarding it to the loyalty team. This wouldn't have been an issue on the $99 plan but that is contracted not casual. Other than that I got the rest, no sign up, free cancellation, modem. I will go nuts for the first week and tell them I need more speed.

      • I was trying to Foxtel Now too, but it really sucks as an existing customer, because they don't care. I even had to fight to get those freebies a couple times. I think I will switch to other telco later on. No one appreciates loyalty.

      • This has ended up being a massive bonus for me. The Telstra gatway max has a wirelsss fall back in case of dropouts. Turns out our line is in terrible shape and may need to be replaced (they cannot get a sync signal from the pit in the street) but we have had internetz, thanks to the wireless fallback, since installation a week ago!. Sorry to hear some folks are struggling to get this deal :(

        • You managed to get Foxtel Now?

    • Yea I was told there wasn't an option to add Foxtel Now on their end to the $89 casual plan… checked everything apparently

  • Tried 3 reps, having difficulties to get either speed boost or foxtel now… :(
Do you just say would like to have the $99 plan with $10 discount and extra speed boost?

  • Anyone has recent success with online chat. I tried today twice with different reps and they only agreed to waive either casual plan fee $240 or give free modem but not both.

  • As an existing customer, I couldn't get anything apart from upgrading. And they even trying to hard sell me into mobile. Good bye Telstra.

  • any body had much luck recently ? as a new customer i was only able to get the casual fee waived and telstra tv. they wont play ball - i thought i had the advantage being a new customer but guess ill keep trying.

  • Has anyone received their Telstra TV? They sent out the Google Home Mini, but are refusing the sent out the Telstra TV. They are saying it wasn't part of the deal, even though i sent them the chat transcript saying it would be included.

    • +1

Yep got the telstra tv with modem. The mini came about 3 days later, are you near a telstra store, take transcript down there and show worker who will open up a complaint for you. I got charged the wavied 240 fee had taken off by going instore and lodging complaint…good luck

      • Just got a call from Telstra and said that they will now be sending me out the Telstra TV. Saved me a trip to a store.

      • Also got charged connection fee but was waived (via chat) when I complained. Lucky I had the transcript. Probably wouldn't have refunded if I didn't have transcript…

        • I have a feeling that i wouldn't have got the Telstra TV if i didn't have the transcript saved. As a rule, should always save the chat transcripts.

  • got a bill today for nearly $700…

    • What was the break down of the bill?

      • 2 x non standard installations. Waiting for them to reply and explain why I was charged (without knowing beforehand). Maybe I got charged a non non-standard install fee, which would make it a standard install fee…

  • Anyone cancelled yet and keep the modem and telstra tv? I guess telstra tv will be useless as it requires telstra id.

  • Just got first bill charged for almost $600 including connection fee, modem, telstra tv and monthly fee. Even though in various chatting occasion, they confirmed I will not be charged for anything otger thsn monthly fee, but the billing system still does that. What a waste of time dealing with Telstra!

    • Same happened to me. Just do the online chat and they will remove it with no fuss. I said I had a copy of the chat but they didn't even bother looking at it.

      • Lucky you, I have now still chat with them for the past 40 mins. They can waive the connection fee and modem but not Telstra TV 2. I said no. And the story goes on. They are now reviewing all my previous chats. Such a waste of time.

    • Do you have reference number for the chat?
I had the same but I got them to look back at my communications with them and they reversed all the incorrect charges.

  • I signed up a couple months back. Could not get 24 month free foxtel now included in deal. Just got 24 month free trial show up on telstra tv home page. Essentials pack free included got and walking dead. Can add movie pack for 20 a month..
