    • Is this a super old drive?

      Speed —
      8GB:5/1.5 MB/s (read/ write)
      16GB and 32GB:10/5 MB/s (read/ write)

      10/5 read/write vs 30/12…

  • 32 gig flash drive!!

sure they have been around for a few years but my first computer had 16k memory (no hdd - 360k floppy drive)

    32,000,000,000 vs 16,000

    oh yeah, nice price.

  • Oh I have the same thing (the white one) from Melbourne Uni, it's quite slim.

So, it has a MAX transfer speed of 60MB/s… But it also has a maximum reading speed of 30MB/s.
So I guess it transfers 30MB/s of the actual file and creates 30MB/s of random data.:p

This costs double my weekly food budget but my first computer was made of paper cards with holes punched in them, so yeah, great price!

I don't like "up to" specifications.

    Transfer rate: up to 480Mbits/s

    Write Speed: Up to 12MB/s

    Read Speed: Up to 30MB/s.

My bicycle will go up to 140km an hour but its not much use once it lands at the bottom of the cliff. :-)

    • I don't like the upto phrase especially in store wide promotions etc , however on flash drive specs I reckon they have no other options , as the speed does vary dramatically depending on what you are copying. Moving a single 1G file only take less than a min but copying 1000,000 1k files may take forever, though the data amounts are the same. I won't worry too much as long as the upto speed is a practical speed they achived, not a theoretical bus speed that Usb 2.0 has.

      • Yeah, I know but they could provide better data taking into account things such as file sizes. Make that around 1.5 minutes seconds at 12MB/s for a gig of data including housekeeping. It all depends what you want it for but for those wanting fast operation it is much better to get one or more smaller sticks with fast transfer rates.

I bought a 32gb A-Data usb 3 drive for 50 bucks from crash of the day. Methinks large capacity drives will come down in price once USB3 drives become more mainstream.
