I suck on the fries then spit them out. It's healthier that way.

      • +2

I use the fries (ala Tim Tam method) to sip the soft drink.

        • +4

You gotta use many fries for maximum suckage.

          • @Clear: Hungry Jacks fries are bigger now so they offer more suckage per fry than McDonalds.

            • @Luckypenguin: You guys really are professional OzB'ers… and suckers.

          • +37

@FrozenFred: The Price Jacks are better at Hungry Jacks.

        • +3

So 18% in a year. Nice rate of inflation.

          • +4

@odysseus: And wage increase is only 1% a year. House price will double by 2025.

        • +3

Not looking good for next year…

    • +1

Typical. It's the only burger I order from HJs

    • +1

      Nope, it was $8.25 previously

      • +1

A couple of months off then, still up 1.30 in a year though which is faster than I'd like.

    • +1

2x Bacon Deluxe deal went up last voucher… so looks like the other menu options have caught up.
Bacon Deluxe deal went up 30c. Not a deal breaker imo ;).
How much did the chickens go up by?

      • 30c and 50c

        • When I compare the chicken X-long and tender crisp to previous vouchers on ozbargain, they seem to be the same price. Am I missing something ??

          • @ahara: Tender crisp meal?

  • +14

This is like 4 times in a row the prices have gone up

  • +1

          • @rover100: I've been wanting and waiting for a Diablo 2 port to mobile platforms. Never happened. At least we now got diablo 3 on the switch. Sorry for the gaming post

  • No mega meal deal. :(

  • Anyone got phone friendly voucher?

    • Get a tablet.

    • +4

Can't you just download the pdf and show that to them, maybe zoom in on the particular coupon you want. That's what I did and it works for me

  • +5

    Upsizing… of the prices :(

  • +3

Chicken used in burgers is terrible, smells like fried bacon and it's a processed chicken (God knows what's inside) meat patty. Would be better tu put let's say 3 chicken nuggets per burger etc. At least they are from chicken breast meat.

    • -1

I actually wonder if theres any real chicken or beef in any of the fast food chain's items

      • McDonald's suggests are all breast now I think. I remember the grissly ones as kid, but now they are as good as the ones Aldi sell I recon.

        • That's true but it's as we say. Suggests. Probably could be something like 40% meat and the rest being fillers. Or just heavily processed stuff

  • +4

good to see that the whopper can be substituted with their new Vegan cheese burger.

  • 2 small whopper meals $11.45, price keeps going up :(.
In Moscow it's about $8.90 AUD and one of the Burger King's I went to had the free drink refills, haven't seen any HJ's with free drink refills in years.
Could also get a beer at Burger King for about $3 AUD, size was about a medium or small cup.

    • +2

Ok, but what is the average income in Moscow compared to Oz? Answer: Median salary is about 14.000 rubles/month, it's about 216USD for a month. Most Aussies make more than that per day!

      • +2

216USD for a month. Most Aussies make more than that per day

        what_emoji.jpeg

295.64 per day. I dont think using the word most is right here

        • +1

          http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/mf/6302.0
Actually it's nearly bang on money.
'Full-time adult average weekly ordinary time earnings $1586.20'
          $295.64 x 5 days = $1478.20

          • +4

@Quarn: Is this before tax? Because I'm no where near that. I guess that's why I'm on ozbargain

            • @FrozenFred: Your not the only one, bullsh_t stats imo, and I don't have many mates on that figure either

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Average ≠ median. Most people are earning well below the average. Median is more relevant when considering affordability for most Australians.

                from the (ABS)[http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/mf/6333.0]

In 2018, the median weekly earnings of all Australians was $1066
The median earnings of full-time workers was $1320 per week, and for part-time workers it was $530 per week.

So the original statement is not quite correct. BUT, comparing Russian AVERAGE with the Australian MEDIAN is also misleading. I had a 10sec google and couldn't find the median Russian income but in Russia, the median income would also be far lower than the average income.

      • Oh no, I was comparing the cost factor for me, I was in Moscow in October to see Julio Iglesias and had such an awesome time.
Some of the stuff was so much cheaper and other stuff there wasn't much difference in price.

        • +1

You went to Moscow to see Julio Iglesias? Foe the love of God man, why?

    • +3

2 HJ's near me have free refills. I'd be too shy to ask anyways.

      • +1

Ask? The 2 HJs near me hand you an empty cup and point you at the machine.

        • Ahh, we have to give them our cups to get a refill, they do it behind the counter.

          • @Tuftsdude: Why shy? Im thirsty motherf#%#ker give me my free drinkkkkk!!!!!! :p

      • I'm in SA, never seen any here :(.
Last I remember was a HJ in Darwin that had free refills, but they got rid of it and only allowed the one drink and this was years ago :(.

      • I takes me a whole day to recover after 2 HJ’s. I’d be too spent to ask anyways! 😂

        • Just ask the cashier. They might offer them, despite not promoting it.

    • +1

the HJs i go to seem to be still offering free refills (VIC). I will check again next time i go, and report back.

      • 😭 I've been to at least several in SA over the years and never seen free refills.

    • +1

HJ does have free drink refills. Just gotta bring ur cup up to them so they can refill for u

      • Gotta check is out the next time I'm at HJ, thanks :).

    • +1

$10.95 for 2x small whopper meals in W.A, not sure why the prices are different.

  • Last time I showed them the last one (expired) and they have no problem to offer me the deal.

    • +2

      cool tell us more

      • The fine print is too small on the phone, nobody will check the date on it.

        • Not checking and "offering" are not exactly the same thing, now are they?

          • @bargainhunter87: Actually I didn't know whether he checked or not XD.

            • @superforever: I thought they'd actually remove the button to be able to even purchase it from the register. Guess they're too lazy and no time?

    • I don't have to show them the coupon ever. I just say 'voucher price' and they give it to me.

      • +2

I've only been asked once, just after I had reset my phone and didn't have the voucher saved.

One quick search for "ozbargain hungry jacks". :)

  • why do they print the coupons with scizzors then if you can just show on a phone?

    • +3

      For the old fashioned folk

    • +2

I think in some areas these are delivered as junk mail to your mailbox and they post that same template online

    • This is probably the print file, or exported from the working print file. It's cheaper to leave it as is when exporting for web PDF because you don't need to do anything, like change the lines to solid and hide the scissors.

  • Phone is fine

I used to love their veggie burgers.. with the new vegan one they lost me as a customer. I wish they kept the old one as well.

    • +2

Now you can eat the far better meat burgers.

    • When did they remove it? Last I checked (a while back tbh) when they had just launched the vegan burger, the veggie one was there.

    • +1

Veggie burger was not suitable for Vegetarians. That's why they have change it.

      • only because of the mayo and cheese… Just order the vegan one and ask for regular cheese and mayo.

    • The patty in the vegan burger is the same as in the old veggie burger. I asked. The differences with the vegan burger are the vegan cheese and the vegan mayo. And with the vegan burger you get 2 patties.
If you want the old veggie burger, you just have to ask. I can't remember what the price is, but that's what I buy. I get a 'normal' veggie burger with one veggie patty, 'normal' cheese, and 'normal' mayo.

  • I thought they used to have Veggie burgers.

    Now it's a 'Vegan Cheeseburger'.

Anyone tried it? How does it compare?

    • +1

They are much better than previous one.

    • +1

Pretty sure the patties are the same, just ask for non-vegan mayo and cheese.

I think the vegan burger tastes pretty good, very filling too

      • Awesome. Appreciated.

        Will probably try it out.

    • +2

Veggie Whopper: one patty, mayo (contains egg), cheese (optional, contains animal rennet).

Mayo not vegan, cheese not technically vegetarian. This is the same cheese used across all other burgers at HJ.

Vegan Cheeseburger: two patties (same patty as V-Whopper), vegan mayo, vegan cheese (included)

The Veggie Whopper used to be priced at around $4.5–5, the extra-patty Vegan Cheeseburger is now about $7-7.5.

      • -2

Lol @ using same patty as the veggie which contains egg and calling it vegan.

The deception is better at Hungry Jacks.

        • +1

veggie patty does not contain egg.
