Optus e5573 4G WiFi Modem $29.50 (50% off) at Woolworths Online

Following from the comments on this deal, this would be the better one to get compared to the two models listed on that deal?

Not sure if nationwide?

  • good device. I got one last year for this price.

excuse the ignorance, but why would you choose this over the newer 5577 for the same price?

    • +1

I believe this one is not locked to Optus

    • +1

Apparently this one supports 5Ghz wifi whereas the E5577 doesn't

  • +1

Have had one of these for a while now and can report that I successfully used in the EU with a EU-Vodafone sim (paris had pretty bad reception though). Bought in 2015 and battery life lasts 3/4 of a day out sightseeing after having neglected it in the back of a drawer for a over a year. Highly recommend.

  • Will this be an upgrade on an old e5786 from a few years ago?

  • +2

Wait OP, could you please share the link where you found E5573 $29.50 on Woolworths.com.au ? I think E5577 is what they're advertising.

Let alone the differences (which are quite significant), we better first ensure the accuracy of this deal.

    • That's what I think also going on the photo from catalogue, it shows newer model with display.

    • Deal has been updated to E5577

  • It’s show on my end on Woolworths website still $59, (vic)

Noob question, can these be used as a usb modem?

    • yes

  • +1

    Showing temporarily unavailable

    • You need to log in to your Woolworths online account first

  • The Woolworths system acts very strangely. I have ordered at the discounted price $29.50 at Woolworths Booragoon (WA). However when I change to other store locations, it would show the standard price. Not sure why, but the discounted price looked to be available only at the Booragoon (WA) store?

  • n00b question - can you put a sim that has both voice and data to use DATA?

    • +2

      Sure.

    • +3

Yes. I'm using a contract Optus iPhone XS sim card and can confirm it works just for data. Something else that you can use but I don't use it is that you can also access txt messages using the modems homepage address.

      • Thank you! The modem seems unavailable now on WW:(

  • Doesn’t work, shows 59$

  • I have one and used it in Japan without problem. About 6 hours usage.

  • This deal is definitely for the E5573 and not E5577, and it is still showing $29.50 for me - see this

And once added to the cart, available for pickup from Booragoon WA - see this

    • Reverted back to E5573 and marked as [WA].

  • Is this unlocked? I’d like to to use a Telstra contract sim in it for data.

    • According to various comments on this deal, yes it is unlocked.

I have purchased one yesterday, but yet to check. Will know for sure tonight, and will report back :)

      • Thanks, looking forward to your findings.

Can these be bought walk-in from a Woolworths without ordering online?

        • +1

I can confirm it's unlocked (bought from Woolworths a few weeks ago). I've been using Kogan and Boost (Telstra) sims in it.

You can walk in and buy, that's how I bought mine (ask at the front service desk). Your problem might be finding stock, as it may not be stocked in every store.
