  • Do they need proof that you have friends ?

        thanks…

Anyone can get in. You don't need to show anything or prove anything.

It is a reasonably good sale but at the risk of offending some members of the community here, I'm gonna be honest and say that Auburn is overrun with a high middle eastern population so if you're female, be prepared for a lot of sexist remarks. There seems to be little respect for women outside of seeing them all as sexual objects.

PS I'm a male; just saying all this because every time I go to Aburn with a female friend, they seem to be upset over the way some males treat them there.

Tell her to blend in with the crowd:

        1. Wear Adidas branded tracksuit pants
        2. Hold a kebab in one hand
        3. Hire a Hyundai Excel from Hertz

I've been to auburn many times, and not once have I experienced such a thing. Yes, there are quite a few people from turkey and the middle east, but they've never been any worse behaved than the sexism experienced in any other area of sydney (even predominantly white areas). Where ever you get a group of young boys, you're bound to get stupid behaviour. Most people mind their own business. In fact, I've never heard a "tits out for the boys" or "show us yer tits" in any predominantly 'ethnic' area of sydney.

        You're just a racist, mate.

  • anyone been to this warehouse (during sale), and can you comment on how is the prices, are they really cheap/bargain compare with buying from overseas?

    • +1

you'll save on flight tickets at least…

    • +1

A bit hit and miss like most places, you should call ahead if you have anything particular in mind. The only two good things ATM that appealed to me are (I was there a few days ago):

50% off all Nike Pro stuff that they have (compression gear - bought a couple of pairs of shorts and tights)
30% off backwall shoes (i.e. last of range models - picked up a couple of pairs for $70 each), a bit short on the common sizes (US 9-11) but they had a lot of stuff for anything over US11.

It's cheap by Aus standards, but you can't really compare with O/S (esp with the $A at the moment).

  • It is usually pretty good from experience, alot of crap that they get rid off but you can get a good deal if you know how to sort through all the "garbage". If I remember correctly its really good if your a big shoe size as they flog them off.

Why is it in the worst location ever, it seems like 80% of clearance events are out west and you risk getting stabbed by going..
I liked that Lee sale that was in Homebush last year though. big bargains there.

    • lol, are you always upto something that gets you stabbed?

    • +3

As an Auburn native, it shocks me that more shoppers don't wear Kevlar wests to do their shopping, I know I do.

      • If you get stabbed at least you're not the only 1.

and you risk getting stabbed by going..

    • you must be very stab worthy. homebush isnt far from auburn either so you will most probably bump into the same people. =)

      True story follows.

An old family friend of ours moved into Auburn 4 years ago from New Zealand. Little did they know about Auburn's horrid reputation (and it didn't help that they moved from a country where there's lackluster security.. with people leaving their cars unlocked, honesty newspaper bins etc).

They were robbed on their first night in their new house. One of the small kitchen windows was open (to be fair, it was a really hard to get to, a high place to reach) and the two thieves robbed the entire bottom floor including most of their luggage (essentially, it was packed for a speedy getaway). This was later followed up a series of incidents in which their 14 year old daughter was harassed and stalked on her way home from school by a bunch of middle eastern youth, who kept asking her if she was a slut and if she wanted a taste of afghan #@$%. To make matters worse, they later returned to NZ 6 months ago after yet another scare in which their car was jacked and the GPS/baby cram were stolen (but luckily he had one of those wheel locks, so the car safe).

Not saying Auburn is all bad but that's just one family's horrible experience with that suburb.

On the bright side, they have good kebabs.

  • Been to one of these sales ages ago.
They had some good stock but mostly rejects and "samples".
The shoes can be good if you're not picky. They are guaranteed 10x better than the Pauls Warehouse variety I see my friend wearing.
No need for proof. Everyone is a family/ friend.

    • Is that true that I don't need to show any proof that I am friend/family?

  • not as good as the puma sale a few months ago. it is only 40% off and no further discount applied which means, 40% off is based on the original price. i wish i am wrong, i almost ordered some bodyarmour from wiggles…

    • Speaking from experience as a sneaker fan you get airmax in their for around $120 minus the 40% discount makes it $72. Air max in footlocker are $180 so thats a pretty good deal. Besides Puma is rubbish.

      • Puma sales are awesome. 40% of the sample stuff is the best. $6 singlets and $9 shirts

      • apparently i am not a sneaker fan. i just want VALUE. $27 for a pair of puma first round (http://www.google.com.au/search?client=aff-cs-360se&forid=1&…), i will say it is a deal!!i got it in last time puma on sale (which was just a couple of weeks after the adidas on sale).

  • Went to a similar sale years ago and picked up some bargains. I am in need of a new wardrobe…ROADTRIP!

the Family and Friends Sale is on at Smith Street Melbourne as well.

    see here

    http://weblink.impactdata.com.au/emailArchiveNew.asp?r=D232C…

    • can you link to the attachment ???

      • I second this

    • called them up at about 3. Same time in Smith St. Don't go to South Wharf, it's a crap place

  • Anyone have a date/link for Perth Harbour Town Sale too?

    Cheers

  • this is fabolous

  • I went to the last sale, and got a pretty good price on the Lunafly running shoes.

    • what do they look like?

  • Alot of cheap soccer boots there too

  • any casual shoes though? I dont like wearing sneakers with jeans and shorts. it make you look like a Kramer…

    • Kramer might be the next trend.

  • I was at the Auburn store at 4pm on Wednsday.
The shoe stock is very ordinary.
    Clothing is OK
So it looks like a mixed bag for the Thursday sale!!

    • I went back on Thursday … pickup 3 pairs on Nike shoes … all were previously discounted plus got a further 40% off … GREAT DEAL!!!!!!

  • anything worthy over there? or just stick to footlocker/rebel sport

  • I went today.
Plenty of t-shirts to choose from at around $12 each after discount.
Shoes, probably half of the mens were soccer boots.
I didn't pick up any as they only had 1 or 2 styles of Air Max 90s which was what I was after.
Plenty of boring Dunks, a Shox, an ugly Tuned Air.
Shoes along the back wall are only 30% off. And they were mostly size 11 & 12. Size 9 & 10 had limited range.
Picked up a soccer jersey for $50.

    Overall I spent $200.

  • Are the shoes on the back wall that are 30% off included in this 40% off sale?

    • Yes!!

      • Don't think that's right unless the cashier makes a mistake. Offer clearly says "not in conjunction with any other offer" which would include the back wall shoes.

  • been two days since the sale, is it sold out yet, if not it'll definitely finish up on Saturday

  • went there today and go back tomorrow. it is 40% off on top of the discounted price. good post!
