Hmm. this is a first. Never seen a wedding reception on Ozbargain.

    • -1

Groupon needs a divorce package soon, as most marriage ended in divorce anyway in this country.

  • +8

    Real ozbargainers wouldn't get married..

    • Maybe once for love and twice for money?

  • +9

Does this come with a wife? Any return policy?

    • +1

Yes, but you must return the product in original packaging and unused condition.

      • Voucher if soiled ?

        • +2

Must stay with wife for 60 days to receive cashback.

  • +5

I can see a loophole here:

    1. Have a wedding
    2. Invite 120 people
    3. Tell people to bring 100 dollars per guest as a requirement
    4. ?????
    5. Profit
    • +1

WHAT kind if wedding is it if I have to bring money? Nobody would attend

      • What about the gift you bring ? Or you don't bring one? :P

      • +1

Well…Chinese wedding, Polish wedding, Nigerian wedding, and Australian -> Wishing well…

      • +2

        It's how asians do it…

      • +1

Pretty sure most Asian weddings profit. My family gave 2k to my cousins wedding, $500pp. We're not by any means rich. It's just how it is.

      • Asian, friend sold $175 tix pp. Made a huge profit.

  • It actually isnt that bad of a deal my wedding cost much more per adult but far less for children if you div it up.

Prob biggest issue would be no spirits on the alcohol package is a bit of a let down. Im of the ilk if you are throwing a wedding and expect gifts from people you should kind of have basic spirits ie Vodka and Whiskey

might be worth it for someone who has a VERY understanding/money conscious partner

  • +3

Who wants to get married to take advantage of this deal? :D :D :D

  • +1

The divorce will be much more expensive.

    • -1

Not if you have a pre-nup in place

      • Any solicitors around? If I remember right there's no such thing in Australian law, or there is but it's not legally binding, like say a will is, it just conveys intent.

    • There should be divorce packages on groupon then

  • lol The Regal Ballroom. We used to frequent this venue when I was still doing waitering for an Asian Catering business during uni days. Hope they fixed the kitchen and service areas cause it was starting to get pretty sad

  • +3

Damn cash back didn't track :(

  • if a woman loves you, wouldn't want you to spend that amount of money.

    • You're already spending that much on the ring.

    Price beat at office works

    OzBargain 13th birthday meetup?

  • +2

Damm.. only 1 voucher per person. I was hoping to use it for both my wifes to be…

  • +3

It's insane how much of a premium these reception joints charge for weddings - roughly $100+ per head (more including alcohol). We booked out a really good local restaurant instead - got there early to do the decorations, brought our own wine, food was wonderful with lots of choices, very relaxed, had a great time, and was easily half the price.

    • -1

A restauanrt let you bring your own wine???

Was it a cheap chinese restaurant?

      • Was it a cheap chinese restaurant?

        Ouch that's not nice!

      • No, it was licensed but allowed us to bring our own given that we had booked the place out. People could still pay for their own liquor if they wanted - and the restaurant did ok I think from cognacs etc later in the night. And personally I love asian food, but the restaurant served 'international food' so roast duck, salmon, slow cooked beef etc as well as a good range of choices for the vegetarians.

Sadly the restaurant later decided to specialise in receptions, prices went up, food quality dropped, and has since closed down…..

Six month expiry almost seems like it’d be illegal

  • +5

Lets organise this as an Ozbargain meet up.
Works out to be $60 per person for dinner and drinks

  • This is actually a pretty good deal. I just went to a wedding here recently and it was a very nice venue and food was good. Could easily spend more on a lot of other venues with no drinks package at all.

  • +1

Just make sure they don't go out of business and take your money. This happened with The Willows on St Kilda road Melbourne. We're happy to offer discounts for wedding bookings provided you paid in full up front knowing very well that they were winding up. Such a shit thing to do to especially when the wedding would have been fully planned around that date and venue.

    • Surely Groupon would indemnify such an event. In fact I’m sure if it as your contract is with them. Not the venue

      • +1

        Surely not. Why would they?

        • Because your purchase is with group on. Not with the venue operator. If anything would happen you follow the money. That’s how contracts work…

    • +1

the willows … what scumbag actions
