  • Add the printer (with 1kg filament), then choose 2x 1kg filaments (your colour choices) to get 5% discount, then apply 10% eBay discount.

  • Looking to start my makerspace workshop. Should I go into 3D printing, co2 laser cutting and engraving or Cnc?

    • +1

You should buy whichever best suits your needs. The functions overlap but they're not interchangeable. Think about what kind of parts you want to make and what you need to make them from and work from there to get your best fit. I use my 3D printer the most but need the CNC the most. The laser is a lot easier and faster to get usable parts but very limited due to only doing thin 2D parts.

  • I get $353?

    • Appears that prices varies with different colour filament.

      • Yes slightly different prices for some filaments.

        • Blue and white are both 27.40

  • which software is compatible with this printer?

    • I'd like to know as well. Also is this better than the ender 3d printer

      • You slice the file into gcode using free software like cura or paid one like s3d

I have been juggling over this decision too as I am newbie to 3D printing. I just ordered this over the Ender 3d but both got the best printer under $200 (Ender) and $300 (i3 mega). From my limited reading it seems this is a better printer out of the box without doing mods and tweaks but both get a good review.

Lots of good reading here which I based my purchase on: https://all3dp.com/1/best-cheap-budget-3d-printer-affordable…

        https://www.reddit.com/r/3dprinter/comments/9z0yc5/ender_3_v…

        • I also would get this over the endedr. Anycubic is very solid brand.

        • Any idea why it has 'Upgrade DIY Metal Frame' in the title. What does this mean? Does it include the whole printer or just the upgrade metal frame to then upgrade a printer you already own?

          • @CheaperPlox: Would like to know this as well

            • +1

@asa79: Perhaps this is a better link? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/292725516929 which is the item I actually ordered, but thought the link I quoted in the deal was even better value. I've sent a message to them to confirm.

Scroll down to the bottom of the eBay page for the description, I suspect the English translation is a bit bumpy and it should read UPGRADED instead of UPGRADE. This video supports that and upgraded version was released: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urhuL0mfmQg
I assume FEATHERS should be FEATURES!

              It does say:

              Package Included:
              1x Upgrade I3 Mega Kit
              1x 8G SD Card
              1x User Guide
              1x 1kg PLA filament ( Random Color )
              1x Spool Holder
              1x Tool Set

    • In the description it mentions Cura.

My partner is an architect, wondering if this would be a good Christmas gift? I don’t think it would have even crossed her mind but she is a guru in CAD which from a quick google could be exported into compatible files. I think she would love to be able to print some of her designs. What do you guys think? Is this easy enough to use?

    • +1

Definitely a good idea! There is a bit of a learning curve in the beginning but there’s a ton of info out there.

      • Where is a good place to start for newbies?

I watched a couple of youtubes last night on setting up this device etc. 8 screws to put it together plus some calibrating and a bit of software to convert your CAD files to g-code (they call it slicing). Seems straight forward enough. Plus you can download heaps of pre-designed files and just print them. This printer comes with an SD card which you can load the models on and hit print from the touch screen. It's listed in the top 10 printers for beginners and seems to get great reviews for the price. I pulled the trigger last night.

  • Is this one opensource like the creative one?

  • Whats this filament like compared to the $19 aldi one?

Also the link is confusing, it’s listed as “upgrade DIY metal frame” - anyone know what this is about?

    • I was just about to click buy and saw this comment. Was does upgrade DIY metal frame mean? Is this an upgrade to the printer if you already have one, or is this the whole thing.

      • I ended up taking the risk and buying it, lots of similar listings, all a bit confusing. The "DIY" is because it has to be assembled, 8 screws plus some calibrating the platform (you can find a 10 minute youtube showing you how). The "upgrade" word still has me confused but the pictures plus description imply it comes with everything you need.

        • See comment below. They confirmed it is complete kit.

  • Price doesnt sound right when its US$383.77 and Shipping US$78.76 at gearbest https://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_6413…

    • That price sounds high, it won some review award for being the best printer under $300… Aliexpress have them for closer to the $200 USD mark too.

  • I've sent a message to them to confirm.

    • +1

Let us know if they reply, I went with the one in your link because it came with 1kg of free PLA (hopefully random colour doesn't mean ugly colour… haha)

      • See below

    • Yeah if this is the whole thing and pricing is correct I'm going to jump on this.

      • See below

  • Still no reply from Anycubic eBay, so I have tried emailing the company directly. I noticed that 209 have been purchased of this item https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AU-Stock-Anycubic-3D-Printer-I3-… so surely there would be negative reports if it was only a frame.

Mine has shipped today and I am happy to reveal all when it arrives, but you might forfeit the 10% eBay discount if you wait.
