  • Quite attractive for PE fares to LAX.

    • What kind of point tally are you looking for at one of those?

      • Someone mentioned on here that they racked up 1/2 a millions points for 4 people flying PE from Australia to Lac return during a similar promo.

        • +1

          That was me lol.

But was under the triple points promo.

        • What does PE mean here?

        • +1

half a million point for 4x Y+ to LAX via triple points? How does the maths work on that?

LAX from AUS is about 8000 miles, and a PE fare earns 1.25 base velocity points per mile, so thats 10000 velocity points, assuming your all platinum and get a 100% bonus, thats 20000 velocity points, with a triple point promo thats 60000 velocity points, multiplied by 4 pax thats a maximum of 240000 velocity points. Also one must assume you had 1 other adult and 2 children pooling to the same account for these points, as only 1 18+ year old is allowed to pool to an account. So thats 260000 short of the half million someone is claiming, and thats under best case scenarios of 4 x platinums all pooling to the same account, that must include 2 children- who themselves are p;atinums (ie having earnt either 1000 or 800 status credits in a rolling 12 month period)

  • Newbie question: if you book a flight with existing Points, your not entitled to double points on that flight right?

    • +2

No you don’t get points or SC for any award redemptions.

Even for any seat awards you just get the standard no bonus.

      Only cash flight bookings.

  • Wonder what would happen if you activated this alongside the Nz double SC one. Guess it would void the previous offer

    • You can use both promo if they occur at the same time.

      • It says cannot be used in conjuction though

  • I booked flights this morning before I activated this offer do I still get double points?

    • +2

I would assume you would not.

    • According to the terms you technically should, as for whether they programmed their points distribution system to match the terms is another matter.

  • I just booked flights for the 19th. Livid!!

  • Do you get a confirmation email upon activation? I hav't received one.

  • Anyone know whether double points are earned from booking direct with VA only? I want to utilise a stack of discounted Flight Centre gift cards to book some VA flights, and it'd be a bonus if travel agent booked flights also earn double points

    • +1

fine to book with OTA or whichever agent you choose

  • Is this a targeted offer as my email saying this was a thank you gift for flying 39 flights, totaling 63406 km in the air putting me in the top 1% of velocity members

    • No; I only flew 10% of what you flew in km and got the offer

  • Does this work for flights not booked through virgin website. For instance through bestjet.com or other resellers that often have better offers?

    • No. Via VA only.

  • +3

Okay my spidey sense is tingling with VFF. There are so many free points flying around (pun intended) that something must be up, or they're hurting in some way. Since mid November I've banked 58k bonus points all to credit by about mid Jan, and only about 5k of that is from bum-in-seat flying. (And no credit card sign ups either)

Is it to soften the SQ/VA devaluation? Or something more sinister? Anyone else worried?

    • I love that we always just have to assume the worst these days because all companies have been screwing people over in whatever way possible

    • It's probably a combination of devaluation and to remain competitive with qantas offerings. If you'll notice qantas has had like 4 offers this year. A lot of double SC etc. above the norm
