WTF??!! the $8.39 discount is in the form of a freakin' Voucher???!! geeeez!

  • Good price. However, my next service is in May so not tempted yet.

Dude, I just stock up whenever it's cheap. Whenever I actually need it there's not a single sale on, so I normally have 4 or 5 bottles in stock.

    • hahahahahaa, its not a loaf of bread. you buy when its cheap so its ready for next few oil changes.

Is castrol better than Nulon?Price is similar

    • +2

I've got the Nulon cheaper in the past - 6L for $30.

    • Depends on application. Castrol Edge is formulated for Euro standards, while Nulon is good for abit of extra fuel efficiency in general applications

    • shell is better

      • Yep HX8 or Ultra.

        • +1

Agree. Always used castrol but tried shell recently. Just picked my car up from my mechanic I could tell he knew something was different.
As he placed the keys into my hand, he mouthed the words, "Shell?"
I just nodded and drove off.
As I looked back he was still looking at the car, shaking his head with a wry smile.

@OldBugger: is this some kind of commercial ads ?

            • +12

@dcep: …His children in the backseat returned the smile and confidence and optimism filled the cabin. The rearview mirror then faded to black and a Shell logo appeared.

Cheers OP, sure as hell cheaper than paying the list price at SCA!

Thanks op, was waiting for this.

  • what's the meaning of A3/B4? Only for european cars?

    • It's just a type of oil regulation standard. Check your car's manual to see if it states any desired oil standard.

  • Boys, this might be cheaper at Super Cheap. I was there yesterday and swear that 5/30 is around $29. Please check.

    • 5w-30 shows N/A at SCA website at the moment.

    • +1

It was 40% off all weekend on sale but it was still about $40.

  • Annyone see any deals for 0w20 yet? Thinkin of picking up some for winter

Just for everyone’s info I’ve never had an issue with sparesbox before but the oil I ordered last week arrived today with a very soggy box leaking oil out of it, wasn’t wrapped in any padding so a bit of a mess.

  • its quite confuse my car 2014 Toyota Yaris eBay said 5w30 This part isn't compatible, but super cheap said is ok.

I don’t know which one correct?

    • Go to the Castrol website and look

  • Seller won't ship to my location (regional Victoria)

  • I use this in my '07 Honda Accord Euro, great stuff

  • deal is dead in the middle of me checking out :(

  • Guys, don't bother with Sparebox. I've had two orders with them. They basically won't ship things until you contact them.

It took them 7 days to ship my first order (after I contacted them). Then I thought I'll give them another chance. Put in my 2nd order some weeks later. They still didn't ship it until i contacted them after a week, they said they'd let me know when things were ready. Then on the 14th day, i still hadn't heard from them. At this point, I didn't think I was going to receive my order cuz looking through their negative reviews didn't instill any confidence in me. Emailed them again, they said they'd ship on that day. I'm glad they did, cuz I'd rather not go the refund route cuz that would have meant they just borrowed my money for free for 2 weeks.

In both case, I had to contact them first.

I'm not gonna bother with them again. Supercheap Auto, on the other hand, is a lot easier to deal with.

    • You do realise Supercheap Auto have an even worst review rating than Sparebox right. Sparebox is 98.5% positive while Supercheap Auto is 97.1%.

      • Reviews are one thing, actual experience is another. I've had consistent shitty experiences with Sparebox, but SCA has never disappointed me either through eBay order or in-store orders.

I avoid Sparebox like a plague and I'll happily hand over my money to SCA.

Your experiences may be different, but at the end of the day, whichever makes you happy is what you gonna stick with.

        • I ordered on Saturday & there's no notification of shipping yet (today is Tuesday, so 4 days already), so not looking good for now.

  • I have toyota corolla 12 and on the ebay it shows not compatible when i select but on the user manual it says oil grades are 0w-20, 5w-20 and 5w-30.
    Any thoughts and suggestions pls?

    • Follow user manual

    • +1

none of 0w-20, 5w-20 or 5w-30 are 5w-40 are they.

Suggest you use the lube finder on the castrol or penrite website as those oils you quoted will also have an ambient temperature range associated with them.

If it was my car (and being in temperate Sydney) I'd either run 5w-30 all year round or 5w-30 in the winter and 5w-40 in the summer. If your choice is 5w-40 or no oil change at all then I''d go with 5w-40.

      • Thanks for the detailed suggestion, I'll go with this 5w-30.

    • +1

i used this oil for my 2007 corolla. its fine.

  • Just remember many online stores offer only the 6 lt container not the 5 as in this deal hence somewhat dearer

  • if supercheap or repco price match?

  • Postage: Doesn't post to WA Remote

  • Bought 5W40 instead of 5W30. Anyone in Sydney wants 5W40?

  • Mine got nicked from my front door step!
