      • Switch to Telstra pre-paid and then switch back to OPTUS in 48 hours

sucks its only for new customers. Re-contracting customers should be able to enjoy such benefits/perks!

    • New services not new customers, trick you can do where you port you number to Optus Prepaid (buy a $2 sim) and then port back as a new service.

    • Loyalty is dead.

New services only (excludes existing Optus services).

    What about Virgin mobile?

    • +22

      Virgin mobile

      Do you mean jv mobile?

  • Does it come with Optus Sport?

    • +1

pretty sure all mobile optus plans come with sport now

    • Yes

No Google Home on my email for SIM Only :(

    • Neither :( Although already have two services. Don't think a third is worth it for a google home.

website link says regional so guess it is targetted for regional customers

    • I just talked to optus chat, you need to signup through flybuys portal only :( Bugger !

      • thanks for the update - saved a call/live chat

  • Last christmas it was the google home, this year its the google hub that are being packaged into phone deals or given away as bonus promos. It's a wet dream for Google, ASIO etc to get eyes and ears inside your home. Resist, or at least sell these virtual bugging devices.

Edit: Just realized this is also the google home, but my point remains.

    • +1

      You can always sell it

  • Did the changing of the flybuys link from "metro" to "regional" trick work for anyone in the last deal to get free Google Home?

    • It worked for me. Got Google Home last week.

      • Ok, thanks. Just to confirm you actually used a metro address when you sign up, right?

        • Yeah metro address

          • @Ali1988: Oh, one final thing, did you get your 10000 flybuys points?

            • @geek001: Not yet. Spoke to optus about it and they said it can take upto 60 days.

              • @Ali1988: Ok, I think they added a check this time. If I use a rural postcode to move on to the next screen, there is a check at the end to see if the original rural postcode matches your address postcode.

                • @geek001: I edited the xxxx from the web address in next screen to my postcode (it would be something …undefined&productOfferingCL=12&visa=regional-flybuys&postcode=xxxx&promoTitle…) then refreshed the page, it worked for me, but I don't know if they would still send the email confirming the eligibility for Google Home afterward.

        • Tempted to put in regional postcode then signup using metro address. Is this what you did and got the promo perks?

        • I signed up, but communication from Optus did not mention anything about Flybuys points nor Google Home, only one month free. Did any of the emails you received when signing up mention anything about Google Home/flybuys points? I am just a bit paranoid that I will only get one month free and nothing else.

          • @geek001: Got home from work today and had a package on my doorstep.
Was a Google Home from Optus.

I used the URL 'trick' to change my offer from metro to regional. Then changed the postcode in the URL. How exciting.

            • @liuzhen: Thanks for the update. Hopefully I will be just as lucky. Cheers.

              • @geek001: Just an update. I got mine at last. The little url hack worked.

      • URL with regional or metro just says invalid flybuys number. I never got to a stage where I can sign up.
Does it have to be clicked from somewhere else like flybuys app only (targetted email) ?

        • it's an flybuy offer sent exclusively to your mailbox

    • This one has an additional one month free. :)

Optus have the shittest systems and processes ever. When i ported my number few months ago they made so many stuff ups and couldn’t apply the right benefits. Even last months bill they forgot to give me the 20% off the $45 plan.
To date i have received multiple monthly fee waivers and courtesy credits due to their stuff ups so not all bad.

    • +1

Milk it bro, their stuff ups are your bargain

    • Shame it's targeted, I signed up on their $30 flash deal last time and due to their stuff ups and credit backs, I ended up paying $15 per month for at least 12 months. But now that I'm out of contract I don't think I'll be able to find a better deal.

  • My offer was only the points, no GH or free month.

  • Why was I not targeted :(

  • I still have 2 months on my virgin mobile sim only.

Any idea if I will get hit with exit fees should I take up this offer?

    • You would need to check the CIS for you plan

    • Yes. You can. 6 months is the cut off with Virgin.

But you can only move to optus, and no other service provider if you are still under contract.

If you log in to your Virgin account to check for optus deals, it would say.. as long as you move to optus, they will waive off whatever is left on your contract.

I had 6 months left on my wife's virgin mobile plan with handset and just moved to optus via HN

  • Sign up last month with silmilar deal, except 1month free

  • Is this a better deal than their current Optus 30GB "SIM only" for $31.5opm (Min total cost. $378)?

    • +3

      $35 per month - (one free month $35/12 months) $3/month roughly - (10,000 points = $50 / 12 months) roughly $4/month = $28 per month total over 12 months + Google home = NO BRAINER!

      $35 x 11 months = $385 - $50 = $335 = $27.91/Month + Google home VS $378 and nothing else with Optus direct.

  • +1

I was offered points plus free month, no google home.

    • +1

Yeah same the google home i think is bundled with 40,000 fly buy points for 24month handset plans, thats at least what mine is showing.
Make sure you follow the fly buys link though cause i applied and didnt get the fly buys, so cancelled the order and will re apply through my link.

  • This or the 10% offer. So 31 a month?

  • Hey guys, I have a couple of questions…

Firstly, hoping someone can clarify for me.. I'm looking at the SIM only 30GB/$35 plan, I spoke with Optus chat earlier and they told me that I can sign up in store and then i'll be emailed a link to activate the 10,000 Flybuys points? Anyone signed up to this deal instore or is it online only?

Secondly, I currently have 2 mobiles with Telstra out of contract, if I move both to Optus, do I qualify for the bonus 10,000 points per mobile?

    Cheers

  • Flybuys points received today and Google Home via URL 'hack' received 2 weeks ago.

    Thanks OP
