  • paypal charges 93 cents instead of 1 cent.

Also, it doesn't let you select Standard Paypal checkout, keeps remaining as express Checkout.

Please fix and confirm when OK to put through order

Edit: Got it to work in Google Chrome. Wasn't working in IE7. But it still defaults to express paypal so no point to ask user preference

We've checked our order system again, but we didn't find any problem, and a lot of orders made with this coupon code paid only 0.01 USD, would you please send your problem with more details to info@budgetgadgets for further check for you?

      • Your screen would apply the coupon but when it went to Paypal, it was still $0.93.

Anyway I did it through google chrome but on both browsers in the last screen before you go to paypal, it says paypal express checkout no matter if you select standard

      • the ozb user "perhapscwk" asked where the stock is coming from and no one replied! , it's a must to know and make sure that we are not getting some radio active products. i believe it is safe because they are checking everything on the ports/airports however we better confirm and make sure that we are buying safe product no matter how cheap it is.

    • Mine seemed to go through ok using Firefox. Got the choice of Paypal options (Standard or Express).
First time user of this retailer so fingers crossed.

    • paypal charges 93 cents instead of 1 cent.

93 cents is the normal price so are you applying the coupon?

    • same here,,, paypal charges .93 cents even after applying coupon

      • it gets to 1 cent, but when u login to paypal, it becomes 93 cents..

    I bought one.

From my email sent to me, the cost was $0.93.

I have opened a Paypal dispute over this. This was with Opera mobile.

    • Perhaps we should have a class action ;)

Well it is a 9,200% mark up!!!!

edit: Well there's good customer service for you!

did you contact the seller first, or were you norty……

    • +6

Did you bother to read the information to see people were having problems?
No, but that is not too important.

Did you look at the price paypal wanted to charge you before confirming your order?
Obviously you did not. You should always check to see what paypal wants to charge before allowing them to charge you.

I have opened a Paypal dispute over this

So you never bothered to check with the seller before doing this or they would have refunded you.
Paypal disputes are designed to be a last resort for the buyer.

Actually Kraji has contacted us to handle the refund, and he promised to give a possitive feedback if we refund to him.
Thank you for all your help, and we do wish our sincerely customers could contact us firstly if you have any problems with your orders and products.

          Hi Everyone,
I'm not hiding, im still at work.

BudgetGadgets have contacted me and organised a refund.

To those who've said that I should have seen issues of the cost, I bought it within a few minutes of going up before people put up the pricing issue.

I also paid via Paypal express, so I logged into Paypal to give permission for BudgetGadgets to charge me without an amount stated, then I was returned to BudgetGadgets and placed in a coupon and ordered. When the emails arrived, Paypal charged me the full price.
My complaint was with Paypal with whom I contacted, THEY charged me a different price to my invoice not BudgetGadgets.

I should be clear, in my first post I wrote "In the email they sent me". They are Paypal, not BudgetGadgets.

BudgetGadgets did contact me and their response has been prompt and well received.

          Hi,
As I cant reply to my own comment. I've removed my negative as the problem I had has been solved by BudgetGadgets.

        • Glad to know it was sorted kraji! (I have never had a problem with BudgetGadgets so never expected you to have a problem)

          My complaint was with Paypal

I have opened a Paypal dispute over this

So you know, opening a paypal dispute has nothing to do with paypal the company.

Opening a paypal dispute is a process between you and the company who you purchased the product from.

  • Thanks I just got one. I payed 1 cent with PayPal and everything ran smoothly. Thanks again for providing these freebies!

  • I don't understand how the angled prongs of Australian two prong sockets fit into this one. Do they fit? What socket adapter do we need to take a three prong Australian plug to Europe?

    • Do they fit?

they will fit into the square thingo, just other internation plugs

What socket adapter do we need to take a three prong Australian plug to Europe?

the earth/third prong, will not go into the plug but will be just under the actual plug, hard to explain

    • I was looking at that as well. Looks American to European, not Australian to Euro…?

      • It converts Australian and American to European

  • Worked using Firefox..took all of 30 seconds

  • Tried got to end pressed confirm then states unable to process just due error? Ah well only 0.01

  • Works for me. Using Google Chrome.

  • +1

I just ordered 10,000 of these! No, not really, but I could. That's a scary thought.

    • Not that scary. It only subtracts 92c and charges full for more. Also they know if you've use the code more than once per account. So only if you really could be bothered with the fake account effort…

  • Guys, this adapter DOES NOT fit AU plugs. I have bought one identical to this one from eBay and the seller described it the same "US/USA/AU/Australia to Europe Eu AC Socket Travel Charger Adapter" but when it arrived I found the truth. It's only US to EU adapter.

    • Did you receive the one like one in the image? I have something similar and you can plug the AUU plug into it - the earth prong won't go in of course.

      • -2

Yes it looks exactly as the one in the images, however, if you have one that looks also the same and fits AU plugs then maybe but I am almost positive it won't..

        • -2

You're complaining when it costs a cent? grow up.

        • however, if you have one that looks also the same and fits AU plugs then maybe but I am almost positive it won't..

I have one and it takes AU plugs.

    • It's only US to EU adapter.

No it is not. Look at the image and you can see it will also take an AU plug. That is why the hole is so large.

If it was US only then there would only be 2 slots for a US power plug.

This is a US only to Euro plug http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad238/vivaxu/adapter/5usa…

This is a US and AU to Euro converter http://www.pacificgeek.com/productimages/xl/USA2EURO-ACADAPT…
You can see it has the slots for a US plug and also the rounded area which allows for an AU plug to be connected

      • I really hope they are AU compatible. Good luck with that guys..

  • Looking at the picture, I would say that the AU plug won't fit into this adopter as AU plug has angled prongs

  • Uhh.. I checked out with Paypal, entered password (no total shown), entered code BG47390011000, total shows USD$0.01 (have print out), clicked confirm. No further confirmation, just a thank you for your order message. USD$0.93 was taken out of Paypal.

I feel pretty gullible at the moment. This is pretty much fraud! Darn should have read comments before ordering…

    I used IE7.

    • This is pretty much fraud.

No it seems to be a problem with IE7

      • So as long as the website works with one browser, the business is free to charge as much as they want from customers using another major browser? They have no responsibility in ensuring compatibility if they make an offer on the internet?

To be fair it's a flaw in PayPal Express, as a payment gateway the final value should be confirmed with the customer, rather than relying on small merchants.

Also haven't received any replies when I informed them of the incorrect amount charged. Though it is weekend…

I doubt you'd be able to use this adapter at a business, where annual checks by an
electrician are the norm. They tend to expose live power pins (even when your
electronic device is powered Off). Kids fingers fit & could be attracted to the
shiney pins, in some places. Don't let a low price kill someone you care about.

Why this offer was likely made, ie, just now:

Now that there are some BETTER better power adapters available for from US $2 - $3,
INCLUDING shipping, nobody is knowingly buying them… I suspect the ones in
    this "deal" are being "dumped"…

I say: No one should use an adapter that, eg, lets a power block "sag" (or
begin to fall out), when plugged into it.

The better ones are a bit thicker and tend to grip the pins of the power block better,
so your "shock risk" is less, as is the risk that your valuable electronic device
(eg, an external hard disk, full of your fav files) gets a varible voltage, due to
being sometimes connected / sometimes not to 240 V AC.

The "besr" ones in AU (eg, at DSE & some luggage vendors) go a step further towards
safety, eg, by surrounding the plug of your power block or cable by a nice ring of
plastic. Less movement, and - even if you don't push it all the way into the adapter
    - any exposed pins are inside the plastic ring, very hard to touch.

The cost of the better ones (that grip the pins harder & have a larger surface area
to reduce the risk of the power block "tipping" & exposing its pins.

But their $2 - $3 price make it a reasonable compromise, not quite US$ 0.01, but
far enough from the $13 - $15 of DSE's range of safer ones to make them attractive.

(We just bought some of the "better, but prices under Au$ 13 each" ones direct from
Hong Kong, and their vendors included the shipping in the under US$ shipping price.

And… with the Aussie $ now buying around US $ 1.04, the US $3 price is ~4% lower.)

      I see your point mate.
I bought an adaptor two weeks ago from ebay for $1.99.
The one I bought is bigger than this one but I would not call it safer as it have big holes to fit different plugs.
The trick here is that you DO NOT plug an adaptor in the power point and leave it there permanently. Instead you insert your ozzy plug into adaptor and leave it. Plug it in the power outlet only when you use the device. Or have it plugged all the time, so that no metal parts exposed.

I bought this one for $0.01 as well, and I do not expect it is going to be made by Space Shuttle standards. And I clearly understand that it is 240V device, so my kids have been instructed not to touch them (with demonstration what gonna happen then, and promise of severe punishment, which definitely will never happen but the message should be clear enough to keep them away from it).

    • They tend to expose live power pins

That is why all power plugs in Australia must comply with the electrical laws which say there must be a protective coating at the end of the pins.
See the black stuff on the power pins here http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/533618/3460049/0/1175921040/Au…
That is there because there is a legal requirement for it to be there to prevent people being electrocuted because of the plug not being inserted fully.

risk that your valuable electronic device
(eg, an external hard disk, full of your fav files) gets a varible voltage, due to
being sometimes connected / sometimes not to 240 V AC.

Your portable HDD does not need 240v, it is connected to a transformer to bring the voltage down to about 5-10v and the transformer is designed to deal with variable voltage.

I say: No one should use an adapter that, eg, lets a power block "sag" (or
begin to fall out), when plugged into it.

Even expensive plug converters still do this.
Because the power pack is heavy and it is plugged into something which is extended from the solid power point it has leverage which causes it to sag.

    • I've had one similar to this split in half and shock me while I was unplugging something.

      Not a pleasant experience.

  • Thanks, might be going to Europe later this years. This helps.
    Either way its one cents.

Do the voltages change depending on what item you are using as well? e.g. I know PS3 had some trouble with different voltages if you ordered from the USA. But I got my phone with an adapter from Hong Kong and it works fine with the cheap adapter.

Is this safe, or do I need to check up on each individual item (e.g. phone, laptop) before using this adaptor so it doesn't blow up?

    • or do I need to check up on each individual item (e.g. phone, laptop) before using this adaptor so it doesn't blow up?

All chargers for phones and laptops will work anywhere in the world.

  • can you do a UK to AUS socket for one cent? … i have a UK GHD ;)

  • Tried Opera, Google Chrome and IE, doesnt work. I presume the code is no longer valid. Bummer.

  • Received this Tuesday (19/4). Even though it doesn't look like it fits an AU plug, it does in fact fit it nicely. Good deal for $.01 and certainly cheaper than the shops by a lot.

  • Got mine today. Designed just like the other multi-type adaptors and fits well around the AU plug. Can't vouch for the EU side till I use it overseas ;-)
