That burger is $7.95 normally!? It looks tiny, and very, very basic (it has a Kraft Singles slice for goodness sake).

You can get a wagyu beef burger for $10 in Sydney from Plan B: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zIjpxeHKnKM/SY7hYwnvIyI/AAAAAAAAG7…

    • that definitely looks better…

Thats the smallest burger for 10.00 would need at least 3

The Plan B burger is more filling than it looks (600-day grass-fed wagyu beef + brioche bun + picked beetroot + caramelised onions + melted cheese + salad greens) , and is pretty much the same weight as that Ogalo burger (it's tall rather than flat, and the brioche bun is more substantial).

    • I agree.. i got excited until i looked it up on the ogalo website and saw how basic it was :S

Totally NOT worth $7.95 … but have to admit, worth it for $2.

      • Yeah, $2 is fine but $7.95 is crazy even by Sydney standards. :)

$10 for a burger, what a ripoff … obivious sockpuppet is obvious. reported.

      • First time I've been accused of being a sockpuppet in 2.5 years of being a member of OzBargain, and nearly 600 posts. Surely my record speaks for itself?

I have no relationship with Plan B, and would have declared so if I did.

        • Funny the accusations that can come from someone that only has 4 comments and no posts.

lol… did you read their posts? they are hilarious… no comments about the item, just making personal attacks on other posters and sooking to the mods…

        • did you read their posts

Ha, after doing that it seems they have it in for jump22. Do you blame them? What sort of a name is jump22? :p

cool, thanks for letting me know about that 10 dollar burger. I'll have that when they decide to take 5.95 off their price too :P

  • I think this is one of the few times that the picture on the website actually makes the burger look worse than it is.

I just did a quick google image search of ogalo burgers, and they normally look more like this when I get them:
    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ha10g6aUceo/SHse-U0J8fI/AAAAAAAAAO…
(although this looks like the double fillet rather than single)

Their stores aren't quite as consistent with the way they make the burgers as Oportos are. The Putney store is definitely the best that I've been to.

EDIT: Make sure you get the Hot Ogalo burger.

pfft what a rip off for normal price. Rather go to Oportos and get a triple fillet bondi burger with extra chilli. $7.98 - 10% student discount and they are big.

    • +1

There's a 10% student discount? Is this everywhere?

      • really? but im sure with the $2 thing, you wont get the student discount

Oportos burgers were good 10 years ago when they used real chilli in oil, their original Bondi Beach recipe. After they got popular and switched to the mass-bottled crap fake pink chilli sauce they have been absolute rubbish. Their fake pink sauce tastes absolutely nothing like real chilli, they have pulled a fast one on you.

Ogalo still uses the original Bondi sauce, ie. real chilli chopped up in oil - the good stuff. I much prefer Ogalo to Oportos. Every Ogalo burger I have had has been the same size as the Oportos 2-fillet burger, and tastes twice as good in my books.

      • This is so true. Oportos original sauce was sooo good.
So so disappointed in them now. I'll give Ogalo a shot after what you said =]

    • nobzy knows what he is talking about

  • nah not all I dont think. alot of oportos have loyalty and student cards though. you usually just have to ask them..

st ives oporto has a card which you get stamped and get free burgers/upsizes and students get 10% off.

    • what? I so have to ask them about the loyalty card next time I go in. I love Oporto's.

I'm going to give O Galo a go. For $2 that is one cheap burger.

Loved this line in the fine print "Redeem when stores are open". Really? That's a deal breaker for me lol!

  • Is the deal over? I still have not recieved the voucher.

  • I was hoping to use it today but I haven't gotten sent the voucher yet

    • I haven't got mine either, but you wouldn't have been able to use it anyway yet - the deal says vouchers can only be used between 18 Apr and 18 Jul 2011.

  • I still have not received my voucher

  • Same as others, still have not received my vouchers.

  • anyone got their vouchers? I assume u followed the email from Spreets to chose the shop u wanted to burgers from?

I havent received mine yet but i chose my location yesterday

  • I want my voucher NOW

  • +1

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for selecting your locations. We will be sending the vouchers shortly. Really sorry about the inconvenience.
    Regards

    • Just out of interest, in the fine print you've posted here, you do not mention any thing about specifying the location you wish to redeem the voucher. Is it just me or is this a change in the terms and conditions?

      • Hi Tom,
Due to a system error, the location drop down didn't show up for many people who purchased the deal, but some others could view it. No change in terms and conditions. As it says:
Voucher only valid in store selected at time of purchase
Valid at the following locations: Bondi, Broadway, City, Crows Nest, Darlinghurst, Engadine, Kensington, Lane Cove, Marrickville, Mascot, Parramatta, Putney, Randwick, & Rockdale
        Hope this clarifies.

        • Thanks for clearing that up.

  • Still haven't got my voucher. I chose my location days ago.

    • Hi Can you check again please, because most people who chose a location are able to view their vouchers.

  • So disappointed with Spreets

  • I am able to download my vouchers now but the location says "n/a". Does that mean I can redeem at any store or do I need to select the location and get new vouchers?

    • Hi citybargainhunter, did you choose a location when you purchased the deal or anytime afterwards?

  • Still have not recieved a response to my support request logged on the 11th.

  • my vouchers are still unusable. I have sent you an email. Please get back to me ASAP.
