Thanks, ordered. Bougth the 3TB version for $119 a while ago and it's been great. This works out to be $122.55 with 5% cashrewards

    • Cheers. I forgot to mention Cashrewards. Have just edited the post.

      • No worries! Just checked Shopback and they're doing 6%! BRB gotta cancel my order.. lol. We'll probably get 10% CB tomorrow knowing my luck.

  • shuck?

    • +2

Unfortunately not. The connector and board is soldered onto the hard drive. One of the reasons why I prefer the Seagate as you can remove the hard drive and it is just a normal connector.

      • Wow that is exactly what I was contemplating doing, I just want to use it as an internal, seriously it won't work?

        • +1

Nope as there is no way to take off the connector. Even if you were to use a soldering iron there is no SATA connector there. It's like they have used their own propriety board and connected it up to the hard drive rather than using a standard board that has a SATA connector.

      • I have no need to shuck this but may want to in the future. How does this drive compare to the 3tb Seagate from officeworks? Not sure which to buy, I'd be happy with either.

        • +2

I had no problems with my 2.5" 3TB Seagate drive I got a while ago, works quite well actually. I use it in my Nuc PC to continuously seed and download new Linux distro's /cough. Current stats are power on time 638 days, 100% SMART health, 54TB written, 60TB read, 111 stop start count.

This is in a 24/7 PC though so YMMV.

      • Thanks Saint Saiya, saved me some hassle.

  • would this be good to use as a drive for xbox one S

    • Shouldnt be a problem

Apologies for trolling, wouldn't cloud solution be better. Ie. Cloud for important stuff and torrent for things not too important.

  • Just checking, is this PS4 compatible? Need extra storage

    • +4

Exact reason I bought one. Shouldn’t be any reason for it to not be compatible, you can plug in any portable HDD and it will format it for PS4.

Also, still had a $20 voucher from Maccas Monopoly that I was finally able to use on this, plus 6% from Shopback (hopefully still works with the voucher) and I've found myself a good deal.

    Thanks OP!

  • Will this work on xbox one s?

    • Yep! It'll be fine.

It won't work to be "shucked", that is pulling the drive out of the enclosure to use for an internal drive for a PS4 or a computer.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Been looking for one to attach to my PS4.

Thanks OP will give WD a go, been a Seagate user to date
