Ahh, I really love this site!

I went into Borders (Highpoint) the other day, as they were advertising a "HUGE CLOSING DOWN SALE".
There was only about 25% off most things, which were still really expensive! I was checking all of the books I was interested in and found that they are wayyy cheaper over at the Book Depository, so I'll definitely be buying them now :D

hence why Borders is closing down.

      • Yep. I'd be willing to pay slightly more to Borders and receive the book faster, and buy from an Australian source.

Sadly, Borders just haven't been competitive enough.
(They might not have even been able to compete)

        • Borders still are not really an Australian source, plus they're not all closing down anyway, if you really want to support an Australian source then go to Readings.

Thats right. I received a HARDBACK book from Book Depository UK before the discounts, on Monday, which cost me $19.95, that Borders (& Dymocks) didn't even have in stock and that was $29.95 at Readings in PAPERBACK - so Borders would not have been less expensive than that (& it only took 6 business days to get here).

      • im sorry but that was very hard to understand. you should use some full stops and and refrain from using double negatives. "so Borders would not have been less expensive than that" took me good 30 seconds to make out

:) Good advice - I just reread it. Found it hard to understand myself :)

I thought it might mislead to use "cheaper" in the same sentence as "Borders" :(

Ah perfect, I tried the other codes last night and they weren't working. This one works perfectly, just follow the OP's instructions and the 10% discount gets applied.

  • Who is sponsoring the promotion they are running? paypal? PP10?

Last time I saw someone who didn't get their books because they used the FCC bookclub code, which was a discount on a specific book and further they clearly weren't in England.

    The link doesn't work anymore.

  • The book I wanted is cheaper ($50) on the .com website than through the discount with the uk site ($63 - $6)

Yeah, that happens sometimes,, you always need to check both sites.

That's why it's always best to do a comparo' using Booko also,, just bear in mind that Booko can't calculate any discount/codes into its prices scan.

TEGH, I figured out how to get the discount on the .com website also,

I've created a new post for this, link above, if you disagree with this please delete my other post, but I think its useful to be able to get the discount on whichever is the cheapest website, as in .co.uk or .com

  • Mate, if the PP10 code is valid on the .com site also, that's great :)
