That means it is solid which is a good thing.

      • there are 2 boxes, both around that weight

    • +2

Not sure why you mention the weight, except to indicate that it's reasonably sturdy?

      (ABA : Snap)

      • +5

Just because it's heavy doesn't mean it's study.

The quality of the joints determines how sturdy it is.

        • +6

All these wardrobes have normal butt joints. The DIY flatpack like this one will have dowels and connector pins.

A good thing to do on all flatpack is to run a line of PVA glue along each joint when assembling. The most important thing is to make the back secure, as the tiny nails that are usually supplied are useless, so the first bump from the inside sees the back pop off (and no easy way to repair it as it's against the back wall).

I usually use a combination of glue and extra chipboard screws. For super-strong, run thin wood batten or plastic moulding over the rear panel then secure that down using screws.

          • @llama: there are no nails in this item. the boards slide into a channel

      $0.35/100g

        Literally cheaper than chips!

  • Does anyone know if it can be used in the garage for storing stuff?

    • +1

Of course, unless you have a leaky garage should be fine

      • -3

why? I don't see a problem if, for instance, your garage leaks underground and stays dry inside

    • For storage you would probably be better with a Pantry, as they have shelves (a wardrobe has long hanging space.

Also, there's no need for the mirrors, and they might even be a liability due to risk of impacts.

Therefore, you can purchase a cheaper wardrobe or pantry of similar size, Note that drawers may not be included in super cheap wardrobes.

    • is this a serious question?

I believe they are doing this to price match Aldi who will be selling a similar wardrobe soon. Aldi states that their one is 99 kg (2 boxes) .

    • +1

I had two warped doors in aldi they ended up taking 3 months to get new doors and turned out replacement batch was warped too so got a refund. So have a wardrobe with no doors

    • ye on big items like this stick to burnings. because you are most likely going to go back for warranty on this stuff

  • +4

Sorry to double post but I managed to find a link to the Aldi equivalent which will be on sale on Wednesday Jan 2nd.

    • It's like they copied everything except the mirror

      • +2

The whole door is the mirror though, looks classier.

    • +1

That one is a dollar more and generally aldi stores are limited in stock.

    • Wonder if they have fixed the warping door issue of last wardrobe range

Our door warped that bad it fell out and broke the glass

  • +14

Thanks to Aldi otherwise Bunnings will never reduce their price

    • That's the situation in hardware.

Now imagine almost everything you buy being in that situation. Because Amazon is aiming to be like Bunnings. Except with everything. :D

      • +2

Amazon basically gave diapers.com two options

        1. Be forced into bankruptcy
        2. Sell the company to Amazon

        https://slate.com/technology/2013/10/amazon-book-how-jeff-be…

If you have your own store on Amazon and you have a product that gets 'to successful' Amazon will gladly start selling the same product "Sold by Amazon" while listing your product in the "new and used from" section, even if your product is cheaper then the Amazon one.

I hope Amazon doesn't became the Bunnings of everything.

I genuinely miss Masters. WW should have hung in there a bit longer.

Wait for the ALDI one to be on clearance. Will be $100 in a few weeks.

  • thanks for sharing

Anyone got any photos of these setup? I think they'll look cheap and nasty but would love to see one before my wife wins with her IKEA order.

Got the Montgomery range from bunnings, one for the guest room 3 door and one for the kids 2 door, I assembled and have to say the quality is very bad. The doors all out of shape as there is a gap in between the doors when they are shut. Two wardrobe doors are not even straight and looks odd as the side is higher than the other at the top. Followed instructions and used all the provided screw holes but maybe would have needed to measure and make my own. Would expect atleast the doors to be straight when screwed on!!!!

These are pretty shit and not worth the money. I don't think bunnings will take this back as it is assembled.

We just installed our 2 door and had the same issue with the doors but all you need to do is adjust the height of the wheels of each door with a + screwdriver. Hope this helps

      • The adjustable wheels are fairly poor quality and 2 of 8 broken for me, so I spoke to Bunnings and the supplier sent out 4 replacement wheels which are much better quality. If you have bought, worth going to Bunnings saying the wheels have broken and get done spares…

  • Good price, we just installed one in our bedroom, its quite good, no complaints from us, and even better at that price!

  • Amart furniture ha 15% of the space master range which is heaps better and larger

  • if you are paying $198.00 on special, its "worth" the buy. but be aware… warranty is key here.
the finish needs cleaning. there was silicon residue all over the parts. (not a big deal to clean)

    issues with product i tested:
the wooden dowels are a very loose fit, (useless) you may want to use better fitting ones or packing tape around dowels to add girth. (helps with being more solid)
out of 3 identical draws. 1 had sides that were cut too short. manufacturing issue?
the doors are flimsy but do the job, one door had a wood defect in the frame.
one of the draw fronts had a terrible finish.

the instruction are "ok" but not clear. on step9, make sure part-10 that joins to part-3 has the screws(3) side facing out.
this is because if you put in parts-12 you cannot tighten the 3 screws(3)

the chipboard wood used is cheap, so be aware it can break easy if mistreated.
oh, and as expected the draw bottoms are thin and weak. (you may want to buy and add some white liquid nails to reinforce them.

i would have liked to compare to the very similar aldi one, but the size, wight and warranty BS is not worth it.

will test durability and update if any issues.

    • I've been really wanting to purchase this… Do you have a picture by any chance? :)

  • Price is up again to $289 :(
