Add it to the chart? I think that's going a bit far for OzBargain, making charts of your deals :)

    Thanks OP.

Any idea how these compare to the Corelle dinner sets?

    I note they're 30% off at Big W.

    • +3

The Corelle are lighter and more durable, excellent plates and bowls but the mugs are rubbish.

Lots of reports online of the glaze mottling on the M&W Soho set.

      • +1

Ta mate - I might opt for the Corelle for a few more bucks (not too fussed about the mugs).

      • Surprisingly, Corelle make their cups overseas in Asia and quality is rubbish similar to cheap $5 cups from most of stores. Rest their plates and bowls are the best ( light and chip resistant).
Next to that are Ikea super cheap $2 white plates and bowls. Great value for your money for everyday use.

Maxwell & William cups are the best with light weight, thin and superior quality.

Due to this, I dont personally prefer buying Corelle sets and buy plates and bowls from Corelle and and mugs from Williams.

Corelle shatter much much more badly than a porcelain when you drop them.
I will be buying these to replace corelle.

    • +2

woolie sells corelle set at $35 once a while

    • They are both very different.

These are made from porcelain, Corelle is made from glass.

The Corelle ones are thinner and more like bone ceramic.

      • I'm not a fan of corelle…..the look, the feel nor the "nana-ware" floral designs they often use on many of their sets.

That said, big W has 30% off corelle at the moment.

You'd get a lot more joy out of the Corelle set at $35.

Lol, I didn't read the comments above mine. We bought Wedgwood formal white sets for big bucks 40 years ago, still use them occasionally, but I easily prefer the Corelle white. Stack into half the space, light, break and chip resistant, cheap, easily replaceable.

I have never had joy out of a dinner set. It's usually the idiosyncratic pieces you pick up along the way in life that bring the greatest pleasure. They may not stack nicely with the utilitarian set you purchased years ago when you first became an adult, but they are usually the ones you reach for if you have a choice. I have always found the bowls and mugs from a dinner set to be less than inspiring.

      • All hotels are the same size, no matter what pattern so they will successfully stack

        • Sorry, autocorrect. All plates etc are the same size so they stack….

  • Are these suitable for a Greek wedding?

    • +1

Go to Kmart if shopping for a greek wedding. 12 piece dining set for $7, should hold up for the meal (won't hold up for the kefi).

If you don't want the mugs (or if you want six place settings) you could go for the White Basics Soho Rim Dinner Set 18 piece Gift Boxed. Price was $129.95, shows as $51.98, down to $46.78 in cart.

    • +1

Yep, I bought two sets of this. Thanks OP and @ash2000 for the ebay links

  • Worth holding out for M & W bone china ranges. We have 'Cashmere' and it is excellent.

  • Just tried to buy this. It shows as 'in stock' for the 3 Myer stores closest to me, but during the purchase process it then says out of stock for all 3. Checked again at pre-purchase and it says in stock but won't let me finish the order as a pick-up. :(

    • Try again mate - I was able to place an order successfully without any problem…Good Luck

      • Still the same. A stock check before making purchase shows in stock at 3 closest stores, but at checkout shows as out of stock

        • oh - mine went through - try a different browser (may be ) - incognito..

          • @smiles: Yep tried incognito and different browsers. Type in 4120 and it shows in stock, process to checkout point and it's still out of stock.

  • Hi! Why I’m not being able to get the 10% off?

    • +1

Because the offer ended on New Year’s Day …

  • Oh ok thanks:)
