  • Any idea how warranty works with international purchases from Amazon?

  • How are these for music? Lets say for example, compared to ATH M40x

    • +1

They're definitely not up to the audio technicas but having said that, they're not bad either. The plus points are they are very comfortable, decent audio and have 7.1 if connected via USB.

      • +1

Any stereo headphones can do 7.1 virtual sound, the USB soundcard has one algorithm.

    • -1

      Crap

  • +2

I had an old pair of Corsairs that needed new ear cushions with no where selling them anymore. Contacted Corsair, and although they asked for the receipt, they did send me replacements for free. I was sorta hoping for replacement headsets, but better than nothing!

  • +1

Happy to try these out as I need something new for cheap. Thanks for posting this deal.

  • +5

I got a pair in the last sale - highly recommend them. For the money they're awesome. The mic works great, the sound is good for gaming, and they're very comfortable. Highly recommended.

  • How do these compare to the hyperx cloud II or alpha? I missed that deal last month

    • -3

      They're all crap.

      • Well can you recommend me a good pair? I'm loofing for my brother as I have a modmic myself and a good pair of ordinary headphones but he wants a headset (within this price range or less then $100)

        • +1

Massdrop Minimic (25USD) + Samson sr850 (35 AUD from aliexpress)

I've had the chance to try the minimic a few times. Seems quite decent.

          • @Julius: he wants a headset not a separate mic

            • @AlmightyBeing: Then he has to live with subpar sound quality.

            • @AlmightyBeing: Let me be clear. Happy to post these types of deals because Ozbargain has a huge gamer community. However, in the comment sections, I'll continue to make noise about my product opinions. Admittedly I have a pretty high bar as I'm one of the lucky few who can distinguish from MP3 and FLAC (tried and tested). The logic is - even though I might not like the item, I'm sure it will help someone else here.

If your brother is happy for an on-ear headphone, I'd tell him to go with the Koss Porta Pro X from massdrop. In my opinion, the Porta Pro is the ultimate portable headphone that your brother can continue using if he wants higher fidelity in the future. It also has a mic but I haven't tried Massdrop's version so I can't comment on sound quality. imo The headphone has the widest soundstage for any headphone under 150 and is pretty accurate when I play the occasional FPS.

If he wants an over-ear headphone, he's out of luck. The Corsairs will suffice but they are not even close to being endgame if he ever wants serious music listening sessions.

                  @DevlicK:

You belong in the Head-Fi forums.

I have yet to reach full audiophile retard. Thankfully, I have avoided spending serious $$$ on high res audio cables. Seriously, AmazonBasics quality is good enough. Admittedly, I recently started tinkering with balanced cables. I feel there could be validity to the argument that manufacturers skimp out on the unbalanced port for DAPs and AMPs if both balanced and unbalanced are offered.

Yes Gaming headphones are all crap. Even the Senheiser gsp500/600 are crap. A HD598 for non amplifier use and hd600/650 or any monitoring headphones are great. Thank you for telling people the truth!

I should not have thrown a wall of text. Admittedly, I am super chatty by nature. Alright one last wall of text. I promise that I will revert back to short comments afterwards! Here I go…

Look gaming headphones have made decent leaps. Corsair has had produced a product that will keep the average gamer satisfied. This is why my deal went front-page. But as consumers, don't you want more? You should be concerned that the quality offered to audiophiles has barely been offered to gamers. In recent years, the market for audiophile headphones has exploded with a plethora of diverse brand and product options from the demand for advanced audio tech. Back in 2011, you'd get hifi recommendations on Ozbargain for Audio Technica, Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic. Today you have microbrands and older brands expanding from their niche markets, where they can produce products on par with mainstream highres flagships like the Beyer T1. An example would be Campfire Audio who are renown for their Campfire Andromedas.

I really think the hires market has hit market maturity. Sure, it can be argued there is room for innovating wireless headphone technology and improving smart assistance. Let's just hone in on the sound quality aspect. There seems to be a consensus that we've (nearly) reached the sonic limits of high res sound quality via cable. So much so that if you were throw serious cash on a flagship headphone, a sane discussion should revolve around: [1] the driver type (dynamic, planar, electrostatic), [2] leakage (closed, semi-open, open), [3] and sound signature (warm vs neutral). Okay…breathes in…then I contrast this against the flagship gaming headphones. The acceleration to innovation and competition does not come even close to headphones for serious listening sessions. Why should gamers… no… society be deprived of technologies that would bring higher value to leisure and hence cumulatively a higher standard of living? That's why I think the iPhone has been the most innovative product in the last two decades. Although it took existing tech and refined existing ideas, it came up with a solution that solved existing needs and unrealised wants for EVERYONE. Steve Job's legacy is now 700m iPhones currently being in use, without counting the strong Android user base. Clearly the most important need for gamers is having a super realistic audio experience that will allow lightning quick reactions to what is happening within their virtual environment. Look I can get more technical (not audio science BS level) but its a Friday night and I have a dinner date at 9pm. I like her. Got her flowers which is a rarity in today's super accepting casual sex culture. The type of marketing speak for gaming headphones should be enough to show these companies don't know the (profanity) what they are doing. Or they think they can maximise profits by selling a subpar product to an audience that will eat everything the hot interns from their marketing department would throw at them. Obviously, the adage of seeing is believing will always hold the most weight so start looking for high-res headphone recommendations. Use them for a few weeks to understand their nuances and afterwards decide if you can tell a difference. Can I hear a difference or is high-res just filled a game of uber-extreme wine tasting taken too far? I'd recommend /r/headphones and stereo.net for less bias advice. Jude is awesome but there are so many (profanity) on head-fi.

Just some food for thought before I go. Remember Blackberry? They failed to share this innovations with their consumer. Look at where CrackBerry are now. Their customers wanted more and voted with their wallets. Why can't gamers do the same? Maybe its a symptom of categorising yourselves into "Razor" vs "Predator" vs "HyperX", and then using a us vs them mentality to bash products. We've seen it all before: Apple vs Android, Ferrari vs Lambo, Love for the Star Wars Prequels vs Hate for the Star Wars Prequels etc etc. Sad to say its our modern way for dealing with buyer's remorse and companies don't have to do anything for this bloody PR. I'm an iOS guy but I still criticise Apple for its shitty value proposition. You have guys like Samsung, LG and Huawei stuffing their flagships with the latest and greatest hardware. In contrast, Apple users have been paying massive premiums for 2 year old hardware. I'm going to continue bashing Apple and I hope to see more gamers do the same about their headphone gear. \

                  Laters!

I have yet to reach full audiophile retard.

Right…I was merely suggesting you to go there. No need for profanities.

You don't have to be a full audiophile to browse their forums.

                    • @DevlicK: Apologies if you think the profanities were aimed at you. Don't take them too seriously. Profanities have helped to round out my character and mostly use when I hangout with close friends. Surprisingly, I've found the use hasn't cheapened my personality in those situations.

              • @Julius: Yes Gaming headphones are all crap. Even the Senheiser gsp500/600 are crap. A HD598 for non amplifier use and hd600/650 or any monitoring headphones are great. Thank you for telling people the truth!

                • @theabyss: @theabyss oops fail tag. my response is up there ^

    • Try rtings for a rating comparison.

    • +3

In realistic terms for a regular person these will be absolutely fantastic (this guy while not wrong perse clearly has overly high standards leaning towards audiophile excessiveness).

  • Gone down it seems, $62.05

  • They've gone and sent me a HS50. The plastic wrapping has a barcode that says HS60 but the box clearly has HS50 on every side haha.

    • Wow the same thing happened to me as well.

Amazon are being a bit annoying with swapping it over as well, urrgggh

      • I can understand if the wrong barcode is on the item, but the barcode sticker says HS60 but the HS50 logo on the box was right next to it. Surely someone checks before sending it across?

In the end I got them to call me (their system makes you enter your number and they call you). I explained the situation and said the postage would be a bit much as it is going back to the USA and that I'd prefer that they pay the postage up front rather than me having to apply to get re-reimbursed. He put me on hold and said "as the postage will be high, we will refund you and you can keep the item." Win for me in the end haha.

        • Amazon have their moments - I had to send a broken joy-con charger all the way back to the US (they reimbursed me, and sent a replacement beforehand). But they said I can keep the ironing board (which was the wrong colour) which was shipped from Amazon AU and even refunded the cost of it - so I could buy another one.

        • Yeh i dont really want them to "Say" they will reimburse me expensive postage. Really i just want my bloody headphones, dont really want to keep the old ones. A shame the guy at the factory stuck the wrong barcode on it and stuffed it up for us all.

I'm going through email at the moment, they asked for pictures of the wrong headphones…will see what they want. A refun aint gonna let me reorder them anyways since the price as gone up since.
