  • Better to get the $40 for $15 starter.
Note these are not prepaid, so you can't easily go back and forth.

    • can you please elaborate?

      • -1

cellmate.com.au or get officeworks to price match. coles was just $15, they still had it advertised yesterday.

    • How do you cancel the number after getting the data?

      • +2

open a support ticket with them, they will cancel within a day.

    • This refers to this deal or belong mobile?

    • Better to uae up the $200 referral credit from freebies.

    • How is it that you claim that the $40 starter kit is not prepaid?. That makes no sense because you're prepaying the money upfront in the SIM starter kit and there's no lock in contract on that.

      • Not in the technical sense of prepaid vs contract. Though you normally pay in advance, there is a contract.
This matters a lot for porting.

        • You could activate this SIM straight away and then immediately port over to another provider if you wanted to with no penalty (other than forfeiting the $30 credit). So what you were saying makes no sense.

          • @hollykryten: Sorry, it is confusing. "Prepaid" has a technical meaning for autralian mobiles.
You will not be able to port away if you treat it as prepaid. You must use the other procedure.

            • @bargaino: Are you sure you're not confusing postpaid for prepaid?. Prepaid mobile has no contract but postpost generally does. Postpaid is what is those 12 or 24 month mobile phone contracts although you pay per month.

              • @hollykryten: "Belong" works by contract. Yes, it is weird. To port away, you need account number, not date of birth.
You are supposed to be over 18, but they do not check.

                • @bargaino: No, Belong doesn't work by a contract. Only postpaid mobile works by a contract. I bet to port away works as any other prepaid mobile from any other provider.

                  • @hollykryten: That's not an argument, it is a contradiction.
As far as I know, Belong is the firstr contracxt plan to be totally paid in advance. they are blurring the lines and confusing consumers such as yourself. But there are practical differences.

                    • @bargaino: You mean paying in advance by credit card?. I used to have that setup through amaysim but it was still classed as prepaid, just by credit card instead of a voucher.

And i say again, Belong mobile is not a contract plan, it's prepaid. You never signed up to any term contract when you got a connection through Belong.

                  • @hollykryten: Belong is a contract as in it will deduct from your funding source every month. A prepaid service by definition only uses the amount you put into it.

And also you need account number instead of birthday to port away, as has been pointed out and verified by many.

  • Can you change plans after first month? I am after the $10 plan and want to downgrade to that after the first month?

    • +1

Yes it's a common plan of attack.

      • After the downgrade of plan, would the unused data still get rolled over?

        • Yes

      • Thank you.

    • +2

The pack is essentially $25 credit, if you want the $10 plan sign up for that in the first place rather than downgrade after the first month.

      • So you can get 2.5 months of $10 plan for $10?! Wow, that’s good.

        • +3

You can get 4.5 months for 10 dollars, get a referral code.

          • @demiurge: Oh gee, how exactly? I just asked my old man to get me one cos my aldi mobile is about to expire.

Do I just activate it then set up then enter the referral code? Very keen to set this up for 4 months.

            • +1

@Skinnerr: There is an option when you sign up to enter a referral code, just get one from the ozbargain randomized referral list. That would give you an extra $20 credit and so 4 months on the $10 plan.

              • @demiurge: Thanks mate
I got the cellmate $15 sim coming this week, 6 months unlimited calls and texts for 15 bucks, insane!

      • +2

A lot of people start on the higher plan because you get double data on the first month, and can roll it over.

      • Thank you. Didn’t know I could do that.

  • Once you have created your account and activated your SIM where do you find the referral code to give to family members or others that want to join? I helped a mate get his going and we used a referral code from here to get him $20 credit. But now he wants to sign his son up so they both get the $20 credit. Can't seem to find it in the app or on Belong website??

    • Man I need this info too, let me scour old thread for answers.

    • So I searched alot of comments and the whirlpool thread too, all I found was people saying 'they've done it' but not saying how.

Belong website only has instructions for the broadband referral.

      • The referral code can be obtained on the web or through the app under your accounts sections.

When you sign up for a new account there is an option to enter the referral code.

  • The $40 still available for $15 as well (purchased today)
By the way, can the referral system be linked to this deal?

    • $13.5 was just posted as well for $40
