Huawei Honor 8X Phone US $253.42 (~AU $370) Delivered @ GearBest

110

Gearbest are selling the Huawei Honor 8X phone for $369 delivered. That price is for the black one but it's about $20 more for blue or red.

Don't forget 1.8% cashback at cashrewards.

For the price it's an extremely well-specced phone. Currently running Android 8.1 but Android Pie is currently in beta test for this phone.

Note - no Band 28. Having said that I recently moved to a non-Band 28 phone and my fears about having less coverage or lower speed have turned out to be unfounded thus far (recently posted a DSLReports speed test of 199mbps down, 40mbps up). Next time I head to Cradle Mountain might be a different story I guess but for day-to-day use it hasn't worried me.

  • The Honor 8X Global ROM black is $294AUD on AliExpress flash sale ATM. I see no difference? Better deal I suggest, unless I'm missing something.
I guess you could use the shopback deal for an extra 12% off that (no personal experience with cashback sites, but I saw that deal earlier here on OZB).

I'm desperately hunting a good deal for {preferably} a xiaomi phone for my wife in the $2-300 bracket, but am so confused on the variety of models.

This is a good deal but if you want Xiaomi in that price range it's hard to go past the Redmi Note 5 AI (it's the note 5 with the better camera and the Snapdragon 636 essentially). Best bang for buck.

I am on aliExpress at the moment, where is the flash sale?

    • xiaomi india recently price dropped Mi A2 with android one 6Gb 128 Gb is equivalent of $320 AUD approx. hopefully we will see those prices soon from the HK based sellers.

If you can wait a little longer, the Redmi Note 7 was just announced. It's got a big screen though. Bigger than what I would like, but the Redmi Note phones are good value for money.

EDIT: Also, if you're confused as to what to get, use GSM Arena's phone finder. Put in your requirements, and it will list you the phones you want.

Hnor 8x is a good phone. But beware it doesn't have USB-C, only micro USB. Screen is huge. PErsonally I went for the Xiaomi Mi8 Lite (Youth edition), as it has SD660 and USB-C, for not much more.

Just Saw Redmi Note 7 has been announced - looks great for the price. Its just missing NFC and Band 28.

    • Damn, now I'm stuck on either the Pocophone F1 or wait till this gets released.

  • I had the Honor 7x, great phone. The only issue i can complain about was the lack of updates - but when i complain to honor - they advised it was due to a geographical issue (bought from China market to Australia)

  • is band 28 really important? B28 only for data(internet) or also for Voice…

Download Network Cell Info Lite on your current phone to see which bands you are currently using
