For those that have an average size Sydney or Melbourne type 3 bedroom house the Tenda MW3 triple pack at $116.99 from ebay should more than suffice. I'm using it right now and loving it. This would only be for those needed wider coverage.

    • Link?

    • Would it suit a townhouse?

      • Most definitely. Helps a lot on a double storey townhouse where wifi signal is hopeless in the top end of the house.

      • Imo if already have router and just need upgrade your wifi have look at ubiquit access points such as AP LR version.

  • Should we wait for M9 plus?

  • Would either of these allow streaming 4K video?

    • +1

      Most likely
The tenda from memory was only 100mbit speed at the Ethernet port but suffice for most people on 100/40 fttp or if you’re on fraudband even better

    • +1

Yep, remember that 4k only needs about 15 Mbps. I'm getting 70 Mbps around the house but the Tenda would go much higher if the source was faster.

Yes, they sure do. I have a set of these and have no problem streaming 4k content from Netflix while other people in the house are streaming in other rooms. They are really easy to set up and have a pretty easy app as well. I was looking at getting Google Wifi but couldn't find them at the right price so went for the Deco's and have been really happy with my choice

These are fine for streaming, but if you're moving big files over your network, you'll probably want to look at a Triband solution (1x2.4ghz and 2x5ghz). Most of the dual band ones halve the speed of the connection because they have to retransmit the data. The Triband ones (like the Velops) use one of the 5ghz bands as dedicated backhaul.

    • This is an excellent deal though and would suit most homes.

    • I would use wired, or transfer to a portable storage and then transfer again. Not convenient, but it will get the job done faster than your tri-band. Wifi is painful.

  • I need a solution that uses Ethernet for backhaul (ie. they act as APs rather than repeaters) which I believe these do.
Anyone know of anything that would be better for that purpose or are these pretty good?

    • Well, to answer my own question: did a lot of research and these look great (for the price) - ordered.
