19% off Travel Insurance @ Travel Insurance Direct

301

Discount will apply automatically. The offer ends on the 28th of January. MOD: TID page has been updated with the correct end date.

Cashrewards also have a 12% reward on TID at the moment, but I'm not sure if it will let you use both discounts because they both work by following a unique link. I would try activating cashrewards first and then follow the 19% off link.

I have used TID once but I did not need to make a claim so can't comment on how good they are in that regard.

I have been getting their emails for about a year and this is the highest discount I have seen (normally around 10-15%).

Also if you purchase a policy in January you go in the draw to win $1,000 drawn each week.

Discount applies to base premium only. Additional options such as specified items cannot be discounted. These options or cover which can be purchased for an additional premium includes extra cover for specified items, increased cover for rental vehicle excess, removing the policy excess and charitable donations made.

  • Used these guys a few times but never had to make a claim. Need to get another policy for a trip this year and noticed an influx of bad reviews over the past year seems some changes not for the better have been going on.

be fortunate you've never had to make a claim - the process is horrid and they are very slow to respond. my claim took over 3 months and was eventually declined.

I've had the complete opposite experience. What were you claiming for and was it a valid claim?

      • Yeah I've made a claim with them and know one other person who also has, had the opposite experience to you.

        • +1

Me too. The only experience I have had claiming with TID was very good.

          • @Majosha: From what i have read its a more revent downward trend. YMMV of course but always worth reading up.

Only good experience from me when making a claim

      • Why are you guys downvoting them? are positive experiences the only ones you want to hear?

I've heard plenty of good and terrible experiences claiming with TID.

      • I've had to claim with TID (dental problems in Hong Kong) and it went smoothly and they were very helpful, I've always insured with TID since then.

      • Why downvote someones comment because their experience was bad?

        • ikr, cant please everyone…. just speaking from my experience. aso i got the timeframe wrong, it was 6 months not 3. lost about $2000 all up with the camera gear :/

I compared the highest pack with 0 excess for TID, RACV and insureandgo. TID came to $190, insureandgo $144 (with 15% entertainment book discount) and RACV (with 15% member discount) $159 :/

Considering choice.com rated insureandgo gold the highest of the three, especially with a 66% positive claim score to 44% with RACV and 49% to TID it seems like a much better deal. (Not sure how accurate those figures are but eh choice seems to be respected on ozbargain)

I’ve used TID many times and it used to be competitive but these days I’m finding it much more expensive than other higher rated companies. Note this is for international travel.

Insureandgo should be cheaper with 20% code, Groupon20

      • Ah I thought it was expired, cheers. Came down to $135.96!

      • Thanks, i might try this. Usually go with TID or SCTI but this is quite a lot cheaper for Hawaii!! $160 for a couple as opposed to $250-320! Quite a shocking difference really, need to read the PDS.

    • In my case (2 people travelling to Europe) TID and InsureAndGo have pretty much identical premiums, but TID benefits seems to be better. However, I might go with InsureAndGo anyway if their claims process is better.

      • For me they are similar as well, but with the seemingly better claim experience (and generally higher rating on most comparison websites) and $54 price difference it pushed me to give insureandgo a try. Fingers crossed I never have to test them out though.

  • Navy Health and Defence Health travel insurance was cheaper for me than TID, even with 19% off (eg. $223 with TID compared to $190 with Navy Health for the same level of cover).

Thanks op. Have used them in the past and found them reliable for claims. To get the extra 19%, first open TID thru the link above, then put in your travel dates etc and get a quote, close TID page, open TID thru cashrewards, TID page should already be filled with your travel dates, proceed with quote, next page should come up with the 19% off deal.
Now, not sure whether you will get the 12% along w the 19%, but my click history shows I’ve been to TID, so I’m hopeful.
    Hope this helps others.

    • Thanks for this, it sounds like it will work. I'll try it once I figure out where to travel to haha!

    • Thanks! Excellent timing. I'm about to travel overseas in 2 days.

  • Just did a quote for 6 months to Europe (prices before cash rewards discount) and SCTI ($358) crapped on TID ($552). Aust Post $332 seemed worth looking at too.

  • Cashrewards might not be honoured with the 19% discount because the promo code applied at the checkout isn’t listed on the CR site. It seems it will most likely be one or the other.

Just been advised by TID's affiliate agency that this discount is not commissionable, so even if it tracks, it will be declined down the track. Sorry!
