Looks like a good deal for a Dell.
The included monitor is worth $600 itself.

  • is this sandy bridge?

    • yes

      • have they fixed the problems ?

        • What problems?

        • There were problems with the SATA controller on the Cougar Point chipsets back in early February and were fixed later that month.

  • Saw this mentioned on whirlpool yesterday or so. Had a look and the other options ($1119 - i5 2400, 4gm ram, 500gb hdd and $1399 model - same as this model but 4gb RAM and what oddly seems like a slightly better GFX card) will be better value depending on your needs. The $200 price difference can easily buy you the extra RAM

These deals are only good if you factor in the price of the monitor (and don't want to build your own). Also take into account, the monitors do tend to go on sale from time to time.

  • Could this handle photoshop + CAD software + games like sc2?
I don't want to build my own so dell is pretty much the only brand

    • The graphics card would need to be upgraded in order to handle SC2 (especially if you want to enjoy the eye candy on Extreme settings) but yea, this desktop will handle PS / CAD no issues.

    • Any local PC shop would be able to build for you for $50-70, don't restrict yourself to Dell unnecessarily.

      • you mean laptop???

      • But monitor is included seems like good value to me

  • not sure about the deal, but i have to mention that DELL warranty is really good.

  • How noisy is the Vostro 460? Fan noise audible?

    • in dB ???
