However still a good one if you missed out last time.
These guns make for a lot of fun and are a great stock up item for gifts.

Just get mum to pick it up for you.

nah the gun has a gps unit and the projectiles have mini thrusters and thier own gps units to guide them back to you

A++++ Will read again! Oh! Just did! A++++

      • +1

Disclaimer: Most consumer grade gps has accuracy of +-3 metres. So in some cases you might need to dive in order to catch the returning projectiles.

    • +1

Attach a string to the projectiles and your gun.
Then pull it after you fired it.

    • +1

Nope, get at least two and give the other one to someone else.
That way you just shoot them back and forth.

    • Yeah it's only cool if you shoot real bullets into someone. Then you don't have to pick them up.

    • +2

Do you pick up your own droppings?

  • this has been heaps fun at my office..

  • Specify the gun name (Nitefinder EX-3) in the title - N-strike is just the license name for all of Nerf's current guns. I was all excited hoping it'd be a vulcan or stampede :D.

Back on topic, this is still a good gun - range matches or exceeds even the larger guns, and merely destroying the air restrictor gives a noticeable boost in range.

      Updated to include model.

      destroying the air restrictor?

      Howto OR links?

    • +1

Google will find you some how-to guides - I didn't actually use any of them so I won't recommend one here.

I did the quick and dirty method:
      - Get a pair of needle-nose pliers
      - Look down the barrel - there is a stick in there. Use the pliers to pull/twist/break that stick.
      - If instead the stick breaks in half or twists, break off whatever you can and then stick a screwdriver in there and mash it around to snap off the remaining portion.

The clean and proper way would be to disassemble the gun, crack open the plunger assembly and remove the entire air restrictor - however (in my case at least) the plunger tube was glued together, so I'd have to cut it open and reglue it. Meh, the dirty method worked well enough for me though!

  • Is this the same thing I paid $8 for a week ago?!? Grrr!

    • different model

    • +2

Nah that one was the Maverick - main difference is the Maverick is a six-shot semi-auto, whereas this one is a single-shot (i.e. you have to reload after each shot).

      • Maverick is a pump-action rather than semi-auto.

  • is this worth getting if I just got the $8 maverick from big w??

    • +3

      add to the collection =D

      One word…LA-ZER

  • +1

I love these things. My maverick's arrived today, soooooo great.

    • +4

Mine arrived yesterday. Have made the wife mad with darts all around the house walls and windows.

I love my maverick surprisingly powerful and accurate I want to mod it to get more distance though. Great fun shooting targets.

  • Not available already.

  • Nerf maverick is better

  • My 'maverick' just arrived today.
I'm giggling my ass off playing with it. :-D

    • Yeah, on the Maverick, I just took out the air restrictors, added some coins and chipped off the stubs blocking the barrel and now it can flip out like a real revolver. Yay! :D
Now it spins too! Now if only I could hide the bullet then I could play russian roulette!

These nitefinders go crazy once you take out the air restrictors and strap on some rubber bands to the pull back handle and strap the other side to the blaster.

And if you use streamline darts, they go much further than the suction ones.

(Streamlines only work once you've modified the blaster though, they don't work otherwise!)

    • So true!

But I've noticed the streamline darts have craptastic accuracy at long range - they tend to veer in all sorts of directions - whereas the standard suction ones mostly fly straight. Pretty annoying to have great range and variable accuracy!

  • Damn, missed out. this would have taken my collection to 2 after I bought the maverick the other day, but the house has a few (longshot, recon, some chain feed monster).

  • aaawwww tooo slow no more stock :-( thanks for the post anyways

  • Just received mine today and found out that I couldn't use the dart from this nite finder on the maverick.
I thought the dart in universal and you can use it on any nerf gun.
