    • Nice! Ordered last night and no delivery confirmation yet.

    • Mine still no email about being posted etc.

  • +1

Do all of the LG V30 phones say ThinQ on the box like mine does from JB? In other-words I assume the ThinQ upgrade is available to all V30 phones.

Because the camera sounds MUCH better:

    • +1

Mine from Mobileciti says V30+ ThinQ on the front

      • Let us know what the camera is like please.

    • Good find, as long as LG V30+ ThinQ showed on boot screen, then it's upgraded version regardless the words on the box.
      https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/lg-v30-plus-thinq-came…

    • Wait, so is it still the V30+ or the V30S(+) ThinQ that you received ? I didn't know anything about the ThinQ version until I read the link above, and this link https://www.pocket-lint.com/phones/buyers-guides/lg/143754-l…

Does your ThinQ phone come with 4GB or 6GB RAM ? The link in my post says the new V30S(+) phones have a RAM and storage boost… though not sure if that's an International version upgrade or not.

      • The V30+ should be the same as the V30+ ThinQ - its just a rebranding which occurred late 2017 I think and they just relabeled their current devices at the time. -the LG G6 became the LG G6 ThinQ (an update also changed the boot screen to that).
If it says LG V30+ ThinQ on the box or on the phone already it probably just means it was made after this change occurred.

Any improvements to the camera should just be software when upgrading from LG Android 7.1 to 8.0 -the V30S just launched with the improvements on 8.0.

The V30S is almost identical besides the 6GB RAM, 256GB.

      • It's the V30+ ThinQ and NOT the V30S+ ThinQ. They added "ThinQ" to the branding/packaging of the V30+.
Mine arrived and the box says V30+ ThinQ but it definitely has 4GB of RAM.

    • The camera has a better sound?

  • welp. mine just came too. can't fault the shipping time though packaging could be better.

Still out of stock - as George Bluth Snr says "There's always money in the Banana Stand!" (or the ozbargain classifieds section in this case)

First impressions of the phone are - really nice design and build. Made in Korea if that matters to anyone. Screen is good when viewed front on but blue tint is definitely noticeable even at slight angle. Not the smoothest, already notice slight stutter. Camera, have to say, coming from a note 4, is only slightly better I’d say. Mono speaker ok, not great. Too many useless LG apps preinstalled that you can’t get rid off. Would have liked a side power button. Oreo out the box

Mine got delivered already (ordered 4;30pm yesterday) - Melbourne. Wow!

Really nice phone. Pretty amazing built quality and nice weight (light!). Camera is not flagship material (comparing to an iPhone X) but I am still impressed for the price. Agree with tchi6 on the useless apps but don't experience any stutter or blue tint.

  • Didn't get to order from MobileCiti, now all Out of Stock, though wonder if they'll get more stock in while the JB offer is still available.

For those that now have one, any issues or concerns so far? The above comments give it a thumbs up.

    • +1

I'd recommend keeping an eye out on their eBay store as the JB Hifi store that I went to said they would be getting more stock in next week so I'd presume that mobileciti would be doing the same. Maybe give their bricks and mortar store a call and find out.

    • Hi Widget,

We managed to get some more stock, a deal on the LG V30+ is back, at a slightly higher price this time, feel free to check it out. Thank you

  • Any suggestion on good quality earphones to take advantage of Quad Dac of V30+.
Bought yesterday afternoon, received today morning (from Sydney to Brisbane). That's crazy fast. Well done Mobieciti!

  • Mine got delivered as well. Was impressed with the looks and the build quality until I turned it on…its got this strange light bleed coming from both sides where the front glass meets the body. The gap on the sides where the light bleed is coming from is big enough to feel it with finger nails. Not sure if IP68 rating would hold or not. Apparently pretty common issue with this phone as per below thread. Probably a case can solve the issue but main issue is IP68 rating, if its not water resistant then might have to return it.

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/lg-v30-light-bl…

    Anyone else has this issue?

    • +6

      Update

Apparently not light bleed but refraction of the display on to the curved glass on the edges. 20 min dip in water and all good. Happy with its performance too.

  • MobileCiti have them back In Stock, but back to $601, and code expired. Shame :/,

  • Impressive delivery speed. Received it in less than 24 hours. No complains about the phone either for this price!

  • this thing chews ram. it takes up about 2.6gb ram idle with no background apps

  • Deal is over

  • So many of these videos around. Sounds like it is a good phone:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y0yOc09kLM

  • Just a heads up, mine came with LG headphones even though the phone back says B&O. Though not sure if it's the same for all. :)

    • Same for me. Think B&O provided the DAC tech in the phone

      • B&O haven't done anything other than tuning the hardware. Actual hardware is a SABRE DAC.

      • I got the B&O iems with mine.

        • Did your box say v30+ or v30+ thinQ?

I think it’s to do with when the stock was manufactured

  • +4

Received mine today and let me tell you this is one of the best devices I have laid my hands on!
I also have a Note 9 and quality wise, this falls in the same ball park. This phone is unusually light as well.
Got this for my partner but I don't want to give it to her now :P

    • +2

      Yep very happy with mine!

  • Anyone notice how bad the front camera is? Especially on snapchat, my old s7 looks night and day difference, this would be worse than my 5 year old xiaomi/samsung s5

  • Got mine yesterday, spent today setting it up. Wow, my Mi A1 stock android backup could not be restored on LG, wtf!

Lucky I manually backup the critical stuff anyway but still. From android to android just say yup, it's me and all the home screens apps icons all appear instantly then download in the background.

LG launcher wow, you're toilet. Tried to run Google Now launcher which wouldn't install on LG.

Now I'm running nova and trying to pixelify it as much as possible without too much luck. Managed to get my Google now feed on the left thanks to a nova add-on and circle apps but not much else…

Wanted to avoid running custom launchers but it might have to come to that…

Oh well. After TRS this bad boy will be under $385 which makes it more palatable.

    • $393 I think after shopback and trs.

      • +1

I got free shipping via the eBay plus trial and the tax invoice shows the full $480.80 so all up it will be $384.64!

        Yay

Apparently you can turn the app drawer back on by Settings> Display tab > Home Screen > select Home >Home & App Drawer, not sure if it works though

Also you can change the icons to rounded in the settings.

  • Got one following the OzB cult :) This is my first >$100 phone and trying to get it right. Can SOMEONE please advice what is Locked bootloader and what are the pros and cons of unofficially unlocking it AND and the pros and cons of installing custom roms? Thanks.

    • +2

A custom ROM is a replacement of the phone's original software. A custom ROM might have more features or change the way the phone operates (e.g. different power management settings, new themes, interface changes). LG has historically been pretty slow at releasing new official updates for their phones so people who want to have the latest version of android and its associated features have to install a custom ROM to get those.

Since custom ROMs are unofficial and made by the community, they might be less stable than the official firmware and in some cases, some features that are available on the official firmware might be unavailable on the custom ROMs as the people who make them don't have access to LG's drivers and software.

Unlocking the bootloader allows custom ROMs to be installed. Generally speaking, if you don't know what a custom ROM is, you probably don't need one.

      • Thank you.

    • +1

A bootloader is a program that directs the phone what to run when it first powers on.
It will load the basic foundation of the operating system, the kernel or can also load diagnostic and maintenance functions of the hardware and firmware of the phone.
A locked bootloader will prevent direct changes to the firmware and access to some of these tools, however it also gives some level of confidence that the system has not been modified outside of what the manufacturer allows.
Unlocking the bootloader exposes the system to modification, which allows the phone user to run tasks as root, (like administrator permissions on your PC) and directly change the system firmware, such as flashing firmware.
Having an unlocked bootloader does not imply you have root (admin) access on the phone, however obtaining root access (rooting your phone) needs the bootloader to first be unlocked.

      • Does unlocking the bootloader affect warranty? is there a knox style trigger like Samsungs?

        • I think unlocking the LG V30+ will void your warranty. I do not think there is a Knox trigger on the v30 though.

    • Does that stop things like nfc payment apps?

There's so much on XDA I'm wondering if anyone who bought this phone recently can confirm they've unlocked/rooted successfully. I'm android 8.0.0 August 2018, so I know I need to downgrade first.

TBH all I use root for is backing up games and occasionally hacking the data, ie: nice to have but not critical, so I'm debating whether I bother.

      • I can confirm that unlocking the bootloader will cause Google Pay to refuse to work until the additional files (from the xda WTF guide) such as Magisk (root) are installed.
It has worked for me without issue since I unlocked my one with the xda guide, however this could always change as Google Pay could update their root detection etc at some time in the future.

        • I've only quickly glanced at the guide and just had a question about the disable encryption part. Does this permanently disable encryption or can it be turned on later on? -With encryption enabled you would need to put in a pin or pattern every time the phone is turned on -not the lock screen, before it has even turned on fully.
So that would not work anymore and the phone is left completely unencrypted?

          • @kaBargain: I do not know about the encryption, other than I had tried flashing all of the zips, and I could still set for password/pattern on power up.

          • +1

@justtoreply: yes, and I used the version of TWRP that allows encryption. My phone requires a pattern/PIN/password (whatever you originally set) whenever it is powered up.

  • Hi,
So I have a problem when I tried to apply the screen guard on my LG V30+ which I bought from this deal. But some certain areas on the phone sreen, the screen guard just won't stick. I tried a few times, different piece of screen guards, still the same issue at the same places on phone screen.
I tried the same type of screen guard on my friend's LG V30+ but it didn't suffer the same problem.
I made sure there was no dust or anything, the phone screen surface definitely clean.
I realised my friend's one was manufactured in May 2018 and mine was in Jan 2019. So I wonder if the difference in the batch is the reason?
It feels like the screen somehow concave.

Photo of mine next to my friend's phone

    Photo of the issue

Just wanna see if anyone has anything issue similar?

    • I have only tried one tempered glass screen protector and got similar results as the bubble on the right side - I have it on both sides but bigger. I just rushed putting it on since I knew it wasn't going to fit like I wanted and was going to get a new one anyway. I may not have cleaned the screen (may have still been wet), pretty sure there may have been a coating from the factory as well that I didn't wipe away. So I don't know if its user error, bad tempered glass or phone yet.
Mine doesn't fully cover the screen like just like yours but has separate cut outs for the front camera and then the earpiece.
I didn't see a manufacture date on the phone or box, being Jan 2019 does your serial number start with 901?
From XDA in the LG G4 forums
      "First 3 digits of serial number are year/month in ymm format. 507: 5 = 2015, 07 = July."

      • I check my manufactured date by this link: http://www.imeipro.info/check_lg.html
The one I used in those photos aren't for the LG V30, but I just want something to protect the screen till my proper ones arrive.

  • can get it for $540 with a discount code I have - worth it?

    • At that price, I would spend $80 more for the current deal on the G7 if you want an LG. or there are many alternative ones around that price range.

    • Hi hotspur123,
We are currently running deal on the LG V30+ for $479, feel free to check it out. Thank you
