The extra discount is applied at checkout, and then please apply coupon code PSAVEIT for 12% off. As usual, 100% AU stock, GST tax invoice with ABN, TRS eligible, and 24 months warranty from LG Australia. Thank you very much for the support!

Edit: Nevermind.. it works when you go RIGHT THROUGH checkout. AU $479.68
Ignore eBay's "pay only.." price and ignore if it says 7%. Ebay is borking it up.

    • I got this phone for $420 from Celletel.llc ebay after discount code.

      • +1

You are paying for Aus stock, 24 months warranty in this deal. Just not sure how Mobileciti deals with warranty.

  • Can anyone advise on whether this (at $480) or the Huawei P20 Pro (at $718 after Cashback - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/436412) is better value in the long run? Not keen to upgrade more than once every 2 years or so.

    • +3

Depends on what you want? Wide angle lens vs Zoom? $480 vs $718? MicroSD vs no MicroSD? Highend DAC? Bigger screen? More recent OS? Weight? Screen res? Poor selfie?

      https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9106&idPhone2…

Not sure how each of them will hold their value. Apple and Samsung appear to be the only ones that do.

    • +9

At this price, its a no brainer….LG V30+ all the way.

    • +1

      I'd recommend the LG.

  • +1

    This or a Samsung S8?

    • +3

I am in the process of moving from my S8 to V30. Just waiting on a case and screen protector. I wanted the wide angle lens and bigger screen and a nice 2 year warranty.

      • Camera quality wise, I hear S8 is better. Angle wise maybe not.

        • Will be using the gcam port on V30.

          • @boxall: Never heard of the website before, but the V30 camera is hot garbage in low light. The main sensor is an IMX351 - a very small (even by mobile standards) and cheap sensor commonly used in cheap Chinadroids. The S8 kills the V30 in image quality (I’ve owned both).

        • LG V30 has a bad camera especially the front facing.

IMO, LG G4 camera is also better than LG V30 and that's like a 2 year older phone

          • @neonlight: Yeah i prefer my S7 camera vs gcam port, also the front camera on the v30 is worse than my old s5. Gcam port isn't some magic bandaid fix.

          • @neonlight: The G4 is almost 4 years old. And yeh, it had an incredible camera for the time.

            • @jlccarv: Yeah I took some great photos overseas with my G4 a few years ago. Shame they all had a fault as mine suffered the inevitable bootloop.

            • @jlccarv: I'm just saying it's cameras are better than v30 comparing to G4

    • +2

Samsung S8 for sure. My S8 has gotten better over time because of constant updates. One UI coming soon will make it even better.

      • +1

My early compare doesn't agree with that,. My S8 is lagging a lot and sometimes completely unusable. Normally happens just when I want to take a photo!

So far the V30 is smooth as, lovely screen and camera is excellent.

        • Can I have your laggy piece of junk?

        • +2

I have had this S8 since Nov 2017 never had any lag. If yours is under warranty get it checked.

        • +1

My S8+ lags sometimes as well and quite slow to move between apps or when opening camera.
Have to continuously close apps from background.

Compared it with LG G6 I have and G6 has much better user experience and less lag.

    • Interesting S8 is Li-ion and V30+ is Li-Polymer

  • Think I might wait for 20% coupon to come around again

    • Whether the V30 will come around again is another question, these are run-out as the V40 is now the flagship.

      • V40 is not even out here yet and it would be priced starting $1399 you ain't gonna jump on it soon

        • True - but there aren't more being made…

    • Thank you for consider this product and also letting people know that you are interested at 20% coupon code, the current deal just fit your requirement (12% PSAVEIT and extra 9% at checkout ^^)

      Cheers!

      • +1

I was hoping it would bring it to same price as previous deal, $432.72

        • $432.72 was only for ebay plus members.

      • Hey mate,

Just wondering when this deal will run till? Really hoping to buy the phone however just waiting for some money to come though! :)

    • $599 - 20% = $479.20, a saving of $0.48

      • Hi Jamesx

you are 100% right, I think I have some issues with my math, PM me your order number if you are go ahead, I will make up something to cover the 48cents ;)

        • OP if I buy any chance you can sweeten the deal with a free case?

        • Ah man, this deal is 6 months late for me. I'll be sure to follow your store for some 2019 (Snapdragon 855) phone deals.

    This or nokia 8.1?

    • +1

      This.
You may (or may not) miss out on a software support and leaner OS. But you get a much better screen, much better SoC, better battery life, and you get IP68 Waterproofing. The camera performance between the two would be roughly equal (auto shots), but you can get better shots using the Manual Mode and the Wide Angle Lens. I think LG (although bad) still offers a better customer service than HMD (Chinese Nokia). Not sure if this model has Wireless Charging and NFC, you'll have to check that out yourself though.

But overall this is the better device, and it is cheaper too.

    • i went with 7 plus.
much better software support and updates after owning a v20 ….lg were always late with security patches and android updates. LG is great hardware but not timely on software …..

  • Anyone know what screen protector I can use with a case for this? Seems like most of the tempered glass ones either don't cover an adequate portion of the screen or aren't case compatible due to the 3d shape

    • Do not buy any of eBay. They're all garbage. I've bought one of AliExpress and waiting for it to come.

      • hmmmm, don’t buy of ebay …..waiting for aliexpress to come …..any recommended sellers left if unhappy with ebay and aliexpress ?

    • I bought a Skinomi screen protector and it's been greet. Unfortunately it's not available locally and needs to be imported from USA.

for anyone on the fence about this phone - GO FOR IT!
Seemingly magical battery life, dont know what LG did but this phone on the max. battery saver mode lasted me a whole weekend without charging (while I still used the phone to watch youtube, play games etc during the weekend). ie. unplugged since around 4pm Friday, it lasted til Monday morning with about 17% by 10am.

Other thing is the DAC which is amazing, coming from V20 the new DAC in the V30 does MQA via Tidal is awesome, your ears will thank you for it! :)

    • -8

      All DACs sound the same.

But we're here saying that the new DAC sounds amazingly different to the old DAC despite everyone saying the old DAC was amazing and the best audio anyone had heard yada yada … and both DACs sound exactly the same like every other DAC.

      • Try plugging in better headphones. Like ones that would normally require an amp, not 32 ohm stuff or pack-in IEMs.

    • Not you too! I get extreme battery envy from browsing /r/lgv30 already haha
I've found mine rather disappointing, only get about 3 hours of SoT (with a few of music). Considered replacing the battery, but don't really want to mess with the weather proofing

  • What the historic low price for this?

    • $432 few weeks back from same seller

      • +1

Yeah that sold out pretty quick, and as with any seller they see an opportunity to make more money hence the price bump.

  • Any recommended cases?

    • I've had a few cases for it. Incipio was the best, or nillkin

    • I recommend a Ringke Fusion case. Protects the phone very well. Very light and not bulky. A lot of cases do not protrude high enough up on the sides and ends to protect the screen when you turn it face down but this one does a great job. I also had a Ringke Fusion case on my previous phones and they were also great.

  • This is a great phone no doubt about it. The only downside is they still seem to be suffer from screen uniformity issues, known issue with LG POLED displays. I bought one from the previous deal and the bottom half of the screen is slightly yellowish compared to the top half (only visible in a full grey background). It's really not a big deal, I'm just pedantic and notice every little flaw.

  • +1

"There is simply no better phone at the $500 mark today."

    • +1

no Oneplus 6 is better just lack DAC audio. As per discussion before you want to do custom ROM sure it might be worth it.

Else for someone like me wants a clean, up-to-date that can last me 2-3 years I would choose Oneplus 6

      • No local 2 year warranty though

        • I would gladly take the risk.

  • Bought one of these from the last deal, not sure if I got the faulty copy or not, but the screen seems not even when I applied the glass screen protectors, whereas the same type of glass stayed perfectly fine on my friend's V30+.
Tried several times with new pieces of glass every time, still same issue, same area of effect.
That's the only thing I am not happy with, otherwise, would recommend this phone at this price.

  • +3

$46.96 more.. too much for some?

  • +2

As someone who prefers to switch to custom ROMs when vendor updates stop (usually 1 to 1.5 years after release for Android, way too short), so as to ensure a decent lifespan out of phones:
    * Is the bootloader locked on this phone? I am assuming it's Australian region stock, rather than the unlocked-by-default European stock. A quick google shows that it was accidentally unlocked with one Oreo update, which suggests that the bootloader is probably currently locked. Any confirmation of that?
    * Are there custom ROMs, and are they decent? At the XDA forums, I can see an unofficial lineage OS for the V30, but it's unclear to me whether that works on the V30+ (i.e. are the basically the same handset with mutually compatible ROMs, or are the different devices?)

    • +1

Look up the WTF! exploit on XDA, all models (excluding like 1 AT&T one) are booyloder unlock able now. Not really sure about the ROM scene since I'm still running (rooted) stock though.
V30+ is functionally identical, just has more storage (128GB)

  • +4

Hey Everyone here, let's chant "Bring back the deal!"

    • +1

      Bring back the deal!!

  • Can we pick up at Parramatta after payment on eBay ?

    • They don't allow that, unless something has changed.

    • Hi fatz,

Yes pickup is available, please select the pickup option at checkout. Thank you

    • Pickup option available at checkout.. but..for $5 apparently. Why does it cost anything to pickup, MobileCiti ? That's like walking into any physical store and getting slugged with a fee because you're buying from them in store Oo…

  • Great phone

  • Anyone owning this phone notice screen ghosting issues like there were in the V20?

    • Ghosting can be fixed, just watch some ghosting removal Youtube video, it worked for my missus' V20

  • hmmmm i got a refurbished s8 from the deal on Friday, is it worth returning for this one brand new?

    • if you value good quality audio (via headphones) then V30. Also the price you paid is probably same if not more but for a refurb phone…

      • yes its about the same, think i'm going V30

  • How is the front camera for this phone, had G5 with 5MP and it is crap i would say?

    • It's bad if you take loads of selfies. I find it to be ok, it gets the job done, just not as good as others.

      • i don't take loads selfies when I do it I want it to be good.

Not the phone that i need then

        • Installing gcam apparently improves the front camera immensely.

    • Apparently the front camera is garbage. I don't know whether that's a hardware issue or poor software for it though. Apparently many people install 'gcam' on their phones, which supposedly improves picture quality.

  • This seems like such a great phone for the price from reviews, and the wide angle lens looks amazing. I'd totally buy if it had an IR blaster.

    • What are you going to blast with an IR?

      • Use it to control TVs and aircons, which I use multiple times per day.

        • damn, it's a shame companies don't include remotes with their TVs and A/Cs.. wait… :p
