The main problem with this card is that it excludes anyone who has previously held a personal Amex card in the last 18 months from being eligible for the bonus points (which is most people on Ozb). Otherwise I'd be all over this

    • Is that include Westpac altitude Amex card?

      • Banks issued Amex cards are fine as per the t & c's, it just excludes Amex issued cards

        • That used to be correct but I don't believe it is always the case now.

To get around the interchange fee restrictions, the 'Westpac' Amex is issued by Amex. I'd say this probably rules you as being ineligible for this offer if within the time period.

    • Where do you see that a personal card in the past 18 months excludes you from a business card?

      • The terms just say card member which I agree is vague, I was reading a guide to this card on The High Life where they state personal cards render you ineligible. I suppose the guide could be wrong though.

        • Maybe that just refers to individual ABN holders applying for a business amex.

I doubt the exclusion applies to pty ltd companies … where do they draw the line? directors/officeholders/shareholders/employees?

  • Can we save offers with this card?

  • I run a retail shop and nearly all suppliers charge a credit card surcharge. Pitty. 1.25 points per dollar is worth less than 1 or 1.5% fee.

1.25 points per dollar is worth less than 1 or 1.5% fee

Sure if you value the points at 0.8c/point … but there's plenty of people on ozbargain that'll buy the points for 1.2c/point.

They're worth even more, if you can use them for an upgrade.

    • I value Qantas points at around 2.5-3c (about 90k points can get you a $3k~ Business class flight), so surcharge pays off if you intend to use them as such. Factor in that the surcharge you pay is pre tax as well and you’re getting even better bang for buck. Having said that though, other amexes that earn agnostic MR points are better, because you could get 4c+ per point value out of transferring them to a program like Krisflyer.
