Just picked up one of these fridges as it seems on sale for a decent price.
Got a 5% coupon popup on my phone, which they also honoured in store.

Coupon said it's only valid for 24 hours (so maybe until ~8am tomorrow).

Mod Update: Code appears to be unique. If you browse at fridges on the site long enough, a 5% off Code will appear - Credits to Infidel

  • How's this fridge?

  • I was looking at this fridge in Harvey Norman (same price), anyone have any reviews or information on these? Seems pretty cheap? TGG website only has a few reviews which look pretty poor (the reviews that is).

I have the upside down version of this for a couple of years, super efficient compared to the old Westinghouse it replaced. Old one used 130-150W the entire time it (compressor) was running which was 85% of the day. LG uses 35-50W and ~150W when it does a defrost cycle once a day or so for 30mins or something.
Only thing I don't like about it is the temperature variation in the fridge, it's not very stable even when the door hasn't been opened in ages (I have an external temp monitor), plus I have to have it set on 2° to have it around 4°. I think that's mentioned in the Choice review on these, temp could be anywhere between 2-6° depending on it's mood or something but it's not like any food is going bad or poisoning me. I got a good deal too and I've saved hundreds of dollars in electricity the last couple years, bill dropped by $100 a quarter and stayed that way just from new fridge, NOTHING else changed

    • LG have slightly better efficiency than the similar Samsung models

    • super efficient compared to the old Westinghouse
bill dropped by $100 a quarter and stayed that way just from new fridge

That may not be a valid endorsement of this fridge, but shows how bad your old fridge was! People may be misled reading that, thinking they will also gain by buying this fridge. So many upvotes - hope they understood this.

Just understand each person's energy use & circumstances are different.

If the old fridge's compressor was on 85% of time - almost any replacement fridge would be better & save heaps on bills. That was a dead fridge running😉

The maths of that $100/qtr saving (given your figures) don't add up?
      Compressor on .85 x 24hrs x 140W = 2.86kWh/day.
Per qtr with charge of say 25c/kWh x 2.86kWh/day x 91d = $65/qtr for running compressor. Add some more for defrost, light etc.

Seems highly unlikely a replacement fridge could save more than the old fridge running costs, even if not turned on?
      Am I missing something there?

My 45 year old 390L fridge has been quite efficient (plugged into power meter for years - measured about equivalent to many new models typical figures). I rarely heard the compressor on. Bills for power & light are rarely over $150/ qtr… So won't be able to save $100/qtr😢

But it finally failed (only needed a replacement compressor relay 10 years ago, compressor has now died) - looking for a cost effective replacement.

      • Dammit I wrote a reply and then lost it…..anyway yes everyone's usage and situation is different, in my case the fridge wss 25 years old and in a hot westerly facing part of the old badly insulted house plus close to the wood heater location in winter so it didn't have the best placement but the new one is in the same place as that's where it goes. Old one was also un upside down version.

As for the cost I'm in SA so price at the time was around .31c/kWh and the "on time" of 85% was an estimate as I didn't measure it precisely, however it was extremely rare to go near the fridge and it wasn't running so could actually be higher.

    Anyone successfully used the code?
Tried & got "Promotion code "FRLV1I8" is invalid."

TGG have had 20% discount ebay deals, which would be better.

    Update:
T&C: unique, single use code, use within 24 hours on category (eg fridges)

Just look at fridges long enough & 5% code pops up. Mine was different.

Reported code as expired (already used by OP), with advice on how to get your own code.

    Mods will likely update Deal.

    • I didn't actually use the code posted, maybe it just expired as it's after midnight?

I simply showed them my cart with the code applied and they manually changed the price in store… so I dunno!

      Thanks for the update!

Mods have just removed the code & added my comment so others can get their very own code.
So your 5% off Deal is the same.

        I need a fridge!
        Hope you enjoy yours👍

  • Got a code but will not be buying. Hope someone else can use it: FRE0515

  • Not expired, just cheaper👍

Now 10% discount pop up code!
    Ends tonight.

    • I dont see 10%, I still see 5% off fridges popups

      • Expired now, but got 10% off fridge code

        • I finally got one last night, took a screen shot… any idea if they will refund the difference per their 30 day price garauntee?

          • @philldo: You could try, but isn't it on the advertised price - which is the same.

I haven't bought a fridge - have an ancient freezer & ice packs in eskys as a fridge. That will not be pleasant after a while. Lucky I'm by myself repairing my Father's house.
