  • Do you need to plug into USB of router? Is there any other way? What if there is no USB port?

    • +6

Plug into a usb adaptor and then a wall mate!

Or a power bank also works.

      • Sorry I mean to sync (pair) it up initially so it knows what network to connect to?

        • +1

you use the mihome phone app

    zapals? NO.

Yep avoid this place! I ordered one of these back in October last year, still no sign of it and I've opened 2 cases to try and find out why with no reply. Steer clear!

      • Same. Got one in October also. Still waiting :(

  • just plug in and use - no configuration needed?

  • These are the ones that can extend your Ryze Tello Drones out further to 100m+. Good if you have one of those that you want to fly further.

  • requires internet to get working so if your internet connection requires sign-on - this won't work.

    • -1

Yes it will. You just install the Mi-Home app on your phone to configure this.

      • nope, it wants internet for itself and if the access point wants email and password - this extender won't reach whatever aws it wants and won't work. i could fix it by assigning its mac to my laptop and authenticate on the ap with this mac, and then the extender would work.

thats funny because i had no wifi signal in my bedroom. put this exact unit in the kitchen, and now i can connect to it fine with full strength. can finally watch youtube in the bedroom

I really wouldn't bother ordering from Zapals as it ain't going to turn up, last 4 orders of mine all failed to arrive and had to get my money back on all of them. Colossal waste of time.

  • Thanks…got two!

  • +4

Bought one back in Nov18 but didn't turn up so submitted a ticket but no response. Raised a paypal claim and awaiting outcome. If purchasing, put a reminder so you don't forget.

    • +1

I just remembered that I have not received mine either.

    • +1

I'm in the exact same situation.
      Never again, Zapals

    • +2

Wow, Now I checked and I have not received my last 3 orders!!

    • +3

2/3 of my last orders didnt arrive either

      • +1

        Same,
I just checked an realised that 3 of my last orders with Zapals never came.

        • +5

          Yep Zapals are scum.

Chances are they arent even shipping orders. There's no way they lose this much.

They should have been banned long ago.

    • Same here, got a refund from Paypal for that one… should we risk ordering again?

      • +1

Same here. Did not receive my order and no response to emails.

        Re: [#CHJ-20339] Ticket created

    Rubbish, don’t bother

  • Still waiting for last year's order…rubbish company, don't bother

8 bucks for wifi extender. Probs acts as a Chinese spy.

  • Ordered last time it was on sale, and it never came…
Still need one, hopefully it comes this time.

So there's a heap of people saying they haven't received one or more orders from Zapals, you haven't received your last order either and you decide to order again? Are you serious?

  • The one I have been using have issues of data leak.. when i connect it the other devices (laptops etc) have terrible download speeds. If I remove it, the speeds are normal. Took a whole month to find it out, with the help of telstra. won't buy again.

  • Sounds like I'm one of the lucky ones. My experience from the last sale…
    Ordered: 15/11/2018
    Shipping notification: 20/12/2018
    Item arrived: 08/01/2019

Neg from me. Time to ban Zapals for none delivery of orders and zero communication. C'mon mods what say ye? How many accidents before you change the intersection?

    • +3

Neg from me too, same reason…

  • +1

Why too many problems with Zapals and yet it's still included in Ozbargain? Just wondering.

  • +1

I got one of these a while back from Zapals. It is the Chinese model so I had to set my region in the Mi Home app to China to get it to work.

  • +1

yep I've bought a lot from them in the past but they have not sent any order past October last year…. probably should ban them from Ozbargain.

  • I have purchased 20 items from them and all have shipped nice and quickly UNTIL the last 2 orders. Both are over a month with nothing sent. Logged tickets on both with zero reply. Zapals was great, now they are just zapping their own reputation!

  • buyer beware…zapals are untrustworthy and should be banned from ozb…far too many ozb members have not received orders

1 out of 5 orders received here (all purchased oct-early nov last year)…first order was fulfilled and all subsequent orders non delivered.

FWIW After forgetting about orders from various sites and later down the track wondering if I ever got them, I decided to start keeping track of when I order something, from where, and when it arrives. For Zappals I placed six separate orders from Oct to Dec last year. All arrived - quickest delivery was 41 (calendar) days, fastest was 14. Average 27. So for me at least I have no issues ordering from them. I would of course recommend using paypal from ay of these sorts of sites as it is easier to make a claim should something not actually make it to you.

As for the wifi dongle itself, I reckon it's good value. Just plug into a usb charger, stand near it, and fire up the Mi app. It will then discover the device and you can configure it. You can set it up so that it uses the same SSID as your router ("wi-fi roaming"), or uses a different SSID. I'd recommend using the different name so you know when you are on it

    • I've been tracking my Zapals orders as well and I haven't had any of my orders shipped since the 13th of December. Cuurrently I'm waiting for 6 things to be shipped.

I ordered two of these WiFi amplifiers from Zapals at different times and did receive both of them.

      • My last order with them was ages ago, so sounds like they may have let things slip recently…..

  • +2

I've been waiting over 3 months for 2 orders, and no response to support tickets!

They're as dodgy as they come, same as the Aussie side of their business, Shopping-Square and Apus…

    AVOID!

  • Unethical store, dont buy!

  • Ordered stuff 11th January, raised tickets with them 11th Feb as my order was 'still processing'. Gave them a week to update the status of my order else I'll start the Paypal refund process. After a week I initiated the Paypal process due to absolutely zero replies to any of my previous correspondence.

Received an apologetic email shortly after from them saying it was a busy holiday period and things had been delayed, you'll have your money back by the end of the week. Got money back, not gonna shop with them again.

They were fine in the past, seems things have changed in the last few months.
