its kind of a top-down, real-time tactics rouge-like that sees you piloting your spaceship and small crew from sector to sector, encountering hostile ships and upgrading your own on the way to saving the galaxy.

What everyone has failed to mention is that it's a 'roguelike'. Fun and challenging if you like that but difficult and frustrating if you don't.
The Orange Box put the first five games in my steam library. If you (somehow) haven't played Half-Life 2 yet you really need to… definitely holds up, definitely a GOAT FPS.
