Before anyone comments, asking how to access it. I made a list here

    • just moved out of sunsuper. missed it.

    • Oh cool, I've got Union Shopper access. Just in time for Valentines day too!

      • Also, does anyone know how long it takes Good Guys to approve you?

        • +1

I applied last night and was approved by 9.30am this morning.

    • How about adding Ozbargain members to that list? Can you do that?

      • Not quite sure what do you mean?

        • -4

You've provided a list of memberships that have access to this deal. Why not ozbargain?

    • For gdayrewards.com.au you can use promo code "Mis12" to get the $50/2 year annual fee waived. No idea when it expires. I just joined it today (got it as a Mitsu owner).

      • Didn't work. Are you sure that code is correct?

        • Didn't work here either.

          • +2

@Saul Goodman: Sorry it is Mits12. Typo

            • @QQPenguin: Thanks :) code works and signed up. Missed deal this time for i5 128gb but will be ready for next time :)

      • +1

        It is Mits12.

  • Answered above.

  • +1

Can you verify the CPU model? For i5 does not have 8650U, per Intel, 8650U is under i7. And the JB-HIFI link talks about CPU in i7-7200U.

    • Yeah I confirmed it
Here's the link to public website.

      • Guarantee that's wrong - the i5 model will be 8250U; the 8650U only comes in an i7 variant and retails for over $2k in the surface laptop 2.
The clockspeed also matches the 8250U

        • -1

Oh I see what happened. But this is what they mention on the website.

  • +1

@OP Jb hi fi link is for surface book 2, completely different product

    • Beat me to it.

    • Thanks, updated link

  • How much is the current lowest price of a Microsoft Surface Pen selling outside than The Good Guys Commercial?

    • I see $94

      • That's an older generation of the pen (it has the clip) but I can't tell what pen is for sale in this post since I don't have access to the commercial store.

        • The one listed in this post is this

          • +1

@Pricebeat: Nice, that's the latest version. I bought it for $115 off Amazon but the price in this post is fantastic.

  • hrm, really interested.. been using the 1st gen for nearly 3 years now
time for an upgrade I think

  • Can someone please advise if these are really good prices? Or are the pretty standard to sale prices?

    • Search above products here and compare. Then check related product links for previous deals.

  • -5

I just bought a Surface Pro 6 couple weeks ago :( Can i still refund to jbhifi?

  • Great prices. Happy with my Pro 5. Crazy price for the pen. I got mine for 120ish with the Student discount from MS.

  • +2

Nice laptop. Pity screen doesn’t detach like the Surface Book.
Also the keyboard does wear out.

    • +8

If you want a device with a detachable screen like a Surface Book, buy a Surface Book 🤷‍♂️

  • Not sure if this is the same one, but JB Commercial has the Surface Go 128GB for $1048.53 or 256GB for $1220.27.

    • +1

Surface Go is $603 at Good guys commercial. Like I said before JB commercial is not that great

    • Was that 1220 for 256 or 128. 1220 is quite good for 256. How do you access JB commercial?

  • Ahhhh if only there is a deal on SL2 with 256gb….

    • +1

256GB is $1437 on TGG commercial.

  • 39W power supply for the more expensive option, yet its CPU and GPU alone consume around 60W. To avoid power limit bottle necks this would need a 75-90W power supply when you factor in the rest of the system.
At 39W they should have just stuck with MX110/130/150.

  • Still it is a great bargain

Can someone please share their experience with 128GB SSD?

My current work computer has a 256GB SSD. Work has installed W10 64-bits, Office, Adobe Acrobat and around 5 specific softwares. Everything is up to date.

All my work documents are stored on the common network drives.
I do not have any pictures or videos stored on the computer.
I only have a few excel spreadsheets and word documents stored on the local drive.

I had a look at the C: drive and the non-hidden "windows" folder is 36GB. The local drive has 79GB taken.

Knowing that SSD need ~20% free space at all time to perform TRIM properly, a 120GB SSD (114GB after formatting) would have 92GB of free storage.
That would mean that I would only have 13GB of storage for documents, media files and other personal software? How do people deal with 128GB total un-formatted capacity in 2019?

    • 128GB is plenty if you’re not storing big photo libraries or videos on the system drive. Grab a cheap small USB stick for some extra storage when on the go if needing a bit more room without having a drive hanging off. Some will only stick out a few mm.

Not going to compete for speed with the internal SSD, but good for storing big files.

I am a surface laptop 2 user. One usb port is definitely not enough. Microsoft is a stupid company for sure

        • How many does an iPad have

        • +1

Also a laptop 2 user, haven't used the USB port once. Office 365 with onedrive. Everything's synced across 2 desktops and the laptop seamlessly

  • Anyone have a Surface Book 2 and can comment on how well it works as a tablet? I mean is it really a good Android tablet replacement (where I am coming from) or are you just really trying to do tablet things in a windows environment?

Also this version has the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 most reviews talk about the 1060 performance for gaming etc. Is the drop off here substantial?

  • For those wondering, I signed up for gday rewards and TGGC immediately after last thursday (7th). Got the approved email this morning. Got SP6 bundle posted last week, no issues.

    • Did you pay for the two year membership?

    • It takes 5 days for the approval? If TGGC promotion ends shorter than that, you would have lost $50…..

      • The other benefits were worth it and tggc deals are popping up frequent so didnt consider a loss.

Might be able to get an extra 10% off if your a student as well

Anyone done this successfully? Do the discounts stack?

      • Has anyone even received the code? The website doesn't seem to give any acknowledgement that an application has been received. So although it is supposed to be sent within 24 hours, I'm not sure it's coming.

        • +1

I sent my application yesterday afternoon and haven't recieved anything yet. I agree it is annoying that there's not even an acknowledgement screen that pops up!

          • +2

@me: I tried using it a few months ago for another sale and it worked, it didn't give any acknowledgment but I received a code probably 24 hours later

        • +1

          @AlexeiNavalny just recieved my code!

          • +1

@me: Did it work? I can add it to post then

            • +1

@Pricebeat: I am on my mobile - waiting to access a pc so I can purchase. Will let you know

          • @me: Awesome. Will be really interested to hear if it stacks.

            • +1

@Kara-Murza: I recieved the following message when trying to use my student code:

"The promotion code you have entered is not valid. Verify the code and try again."

If anyone else has any success can you please tell me how?

              • @me: One thing you could try is to temporarily go to the non-commercial website and go to the checkout with a Surface Laptop, and see if your code works there. If it does, that'd be some sort of evidence that the code only works with the non-commercial website.

                • +1

@Kara-Murza: Thanks. It doesn't appear to be working on the regular website either! But I've just been trying on a mobile as I'm away from a computer again.

  • Is 21.5 mm thickness correct. Some places show 0.59 inch thickness

  • there is no combination as i5-8650U

Hi. Microsoft store rep said that they “might” do a match if I can show them the available price.

Can someone please post the screenshot for the surface pro type bundle ? I don’t have union membership :(

    • +3

They will back out as soon as they see "commercial" in the site address.

      • +2

yea thats what i was thinking, but always worth a shot asking them.

  • That's a great price for the 256 laptop. I got myself a Macbook because I thought the standard 2k was a bit steep - would have been a different story if this was available on Friday.

  • Bought 2x surface book 2 15" i7 256gb with 16gb ram for about $2800 each using jbhifi gift card with 10% discount bought from gumtree last financial year.

    Its a very nice tablet/laptop.
15" is quite big and heavy for a tablet.

I would recommend a 256gb micro sd card with adapter could save quite a lot of money rather than get the 512gb option.

Dont expect the battery to last as their specs…..other than that totally love it.

    • what abt the arm rest that has a fabric, any issues?

      • Not sure which arm rest you are talking about but my hands/palm can rest on the metal finish sides in between the mouse track when I type.

There is no fabric material in my surface book 2. Did they release a different finish?

        • my bad, this deal was abt surface laptop….was confused that ur talking abt it

            @hopper: Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 i5 8650U/128GB/8GB $1077 / Pen $85 / Surface Book 2 i7 256GB 8GB $2130 @ The Good Guys Commercial

  • This or thinkpad E480 ? (Save $150)

Edit oooh the access is a bit confusing need to sit down and figure out

    • +5

Never buy anything else but X or T series ThinkPads. 20 years of ThinkPad buying says so.

    • Don't think the E480's are still available for the previous price. Also note the E480 does not have the touch screen.

      • Plus overheating issue, thermal throttle, extra weight/thickness , poor battery life etc…

SL2 is a different beast if you got the cash.

anyone able to share a login to purchase ?

  • I really want that $1077 surface laptop 2……..

    • Same but I have no login :(

  • Hey guys, anybody able to comment on which is better the surface laptop 2 or surface book 2 in terms of quality? I'm still tossing up between the two of them… Thanks

Ideally I'd want something a bit future proof for a few years.

  • Great laptop but the non-up-gradable storage makes this an instant NO from me.

  • Anyone has experience with the Zodiac Active Wireless Stylus as mentionned here as an alternative?

  • SB2 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage is not available anymore. Probably sold out.

    • What about the laptop?

  • -3

How much is surface laptop 2 i5 256gb? Thank you

  • Did anyone else order and then get a call from TGG saying they'd take several weeks to deliver the Surface Laptop 2 i5 256GB?

  • Laptop 2, i5 with 128 GB not showing up now. Great deal will be ready next time now signed up for g'day rewards using promo code mits12, credit to qqpenguin.

    • Damn that's disappointing. Signed up just to get that one.

  • Damn, What is the easiest one to sign up to to be able to buy from TGG Commercial?
