  • this or samsung 960 EVO?

This is Kingston's most basic SSD that does not have a DRAM chip.

In case you're clueless about what a DRAM cache is, Linus explained it here. But TLDR it's a slower SSD.

      always samsung

Just avoid their new QLC based SSD in my opinion QLC has taken the tech one step too far.

  • No DRAM No way

  • At least it's a recognisable brand, not Humpeee or whatever. Still, that's a lot to spend on something without DRAM

  • Did you guys commenting about DRAM know anything about it before scrimshaw posted a link on it? :)

For $160, I'd rather get the 860 QVO 1TB from MSY.

    • Neither are great options in my opinion. I'd pay more for TLC based EVO personally.
