    Is this gen 2?

    • If you refer the big Mi Drone as gen 1, then yes.

Not really. The older bigger model was a DJI phantom competitor. This one directly competes in specs and looks as the DJI Mavic.

  • Looks like a mavic clone.

    • Would be great if it is, and if it gets anywhere near the Mavic for features and reliability. Been looking at a Mavic for years but hard to justify > a grand for a 'toy' to the finance officer lol.

      • I also thought that it is a toy which I will put on a shelf in 1-2 months. In reality, 1 year later, it is always with me when I travel or go hiking, use it as a flying camera. I own Mavic Air (other drones will be hard to carry around, especially when you travel on a plane).

    • which mavic? gosh all mavic are over $1200 i think? crazy

      • +1

Its suppose to be competing against the mavic air

  • +1

It’s targeting Mavic Air with some spec better than Mavic Air and more competitive price. Pre-sale price was $399 USD and raised to $499 USD after 15/01/19. So it looks like a fair price for it.

various different footage from YouTube suggests otherwise, the colour rendition looks so bad compared to the Mavic Air and Mi 4k. I was looking forward to buying the Fimi X8 as my first drone but I guess I'll have to wait until something better comes along :(
Also apparently the "SE" stands for Standard/Special Edition so hopefully there'll be a pro version that they release?

      • Its half the price and your having a sook because the video quality isnt as good. Its certainly good enough.

        • +1

obviously but it's meant to be the competitor to the mavic air and should have at least decent footage and at the very least better than the supposedly predecessor xiaomi 4k drone

        • How does it compare to the $500 DJI Spark which is 1080p30?

  • How does one get this for ~ $600, when banggood factors in gst, it is no longer $600. Am I missing something?

    • My bad GST added

  • Here's what I got instead.

Not a bad price still. I got so excited when I saw $600. I want to buy this to replace my mi drone 4k.

    Code doesn't work anymore

  • Does anyone know yet if this can fly in Australia with the US FCC mode so it can actual go a decent distance out. I have the special app for DJI that allows this and makes the spark go to 2km + compared to 300 - 500 m in the EU mode

    • Let's ignore the CASA rules for a minute that says you can't do that. But I wouldn't let this thing out of your eyesight. If you've ever had fun trying to find a lost drone you'd know wot I mean.

      • I have, but to be honest the whole point of these is to use the screen to fly far and high, I get the rules but also think there is a way to fly safely with it being further than you can see the thing like in un-populated areas. I had my little sparky out to 2.5km with range extenders out over the bush no problems. It only got lost when it malfunctioned and flew off with no input from the controller. It was less than 20 mtrs from me when this happened.

yeah thats because to cut costs (not that its cheap) there is only one compass so if there is interference it switches to manual mode and will take off with the wind.
