On a side note, there's a new watch expected to be launched from samsung on 21st

  • Have been looking at getting this for listening to music and tracking my distance while jogging etc after my gear fit 2 died.
    Three questions:
1.) Anyone have experience with returning stuff through Tobydealsau under warranty?
2.) Has anyone with this version been able to get Samsung Pay to work?
3.) Does anyone use this for their fitness watch?

I use it for running as I find carrying a phone inconvenient. Connects to my qc35s seamlessly, spotify app lets you download playlists as well which is cool. It automatically detects running, and has a feature where if it determines you've been sedentary for too long it buzzes and suggests an exercise of some sort, ie torso twists.
Havent tried Samsung pay, I use a bankwest halo pay ring which I find more convenient.

      • Cheers.

I'd never even heard of the halo ring. That's cool.

Would be great to be able to use the watch with paypass if I can, but I have a bankwest account so that's the ring is a great alternative.

the ring is awesome. You gotta put it on the corner of some machines and every place I go they're like, what are you doing but it's convenient. 39 bucks is a bit pricy for something that isn't actually necessary but it's got cool factor which I consider a tangible value.

      • Samsung pay works for mine. I got it from office works.

        • Yeah but this is about a grey import. I don't believe Samsung Pay will work here on this.

          • @gadgetguy: Price match as per comments below.

I got Officeworks to match Tobydeals when I purchased this watch a few months back.

    • Would you mind sharing a picture of invoice? Will certainly be helpful if you could.

      • Sorry, I have no idea where the invoice is.
The store initially said no, so I called the number on their website (1300 633 423) and they said it meets the terms of their price guarantee.

I paid over the phone with the extra 5% off and they organised for me to collect at the same store the next day.

        • It's useful keeping receipts for such items :)

  • Don't get grey stock. It's hardly much more to get local. They aren't the best built things, I had one fail quickly, charging can cause issues too.

    • Sounds like you got unlucky. I've had mine for over a year now and I haven't had any issues with it - the same goes for a friend that bought it at the same time I did.

      • My gear fit 2 died suddenly at 21 months so I get what he's saying

  • Better off waiting and seeing if they'll bundle the 2019 Galaxy Watch with the rumoured Galaxy Buds. They've done it in the past so I don't see why not.

  • got one price matched with officeworks about 4months ago. DEAD already, check online here before you buy - https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Smartphones-Tablets-Wear… common problem keeps rebooting.

  • No luck trying to get officeworks to price match it. They said because it's coming from HK they won't match it.

Did you call them or visited a store?

      • +1

Called a store directly the other day and called the 1800 number today.

        • +1

Yep got the same response, seems like threre is an internal comms in OW to not price match Tobydeals

  • You're better off waiting for a 10% OR 20% code on Ebay and getting it from The Good Guys or something.

EDIT: Wow, TGG have put it up to $399. They had them at $299 not long ago.
