Reva Pegs Plastic 48 Pack $3.24 @ Woolworths

1370

First post, so be gentle.

Saw Reva pegs are half price on my weekly shop at woolworths this week. Never seen them this cheap, time to stock up. Should be nationwide, as it’s on their website too.

Happy bargaining

No need to stock up coz they hardly deteriorate
    Best pegs ever

    • +2

Not anymore, half of the pegs in the pack are China made, even the Australian made ones are not as strong as the ones of yesteryears

      • +1

        Half?

        • OK, some were chinese some were aussies, not technically 50%

    • +8

They deteriorate pretty fast when I mow over them. Ooops.

      • +2

You would be successful on youtube, finally a crossover between product videos and destroy things videos.

    • +3

I've always bought REVA because they are Australian made.
But nowadays they definitely don't last more than a couple of years before the plastic becomes brittle and snaps.

  • Agreed, if stored out of the sun, last for years. Our current ones are over 5 years old, and look brand new. But sometimes we run out on a big laundry weekend. Problem solved :)

  • +10

Note these are now manufactured in China, and not Australia.

The one made in AU last for years, the new one manufactured in China doesn't last long.

    • Agreed, the China made ones started deteriorating after less than 2 years of usage, even being kept in the shade when not in use after noticing them being made in china just as a precaution

    • +1

Do you know since when they did the switch? Is this why the half price special now? It rarely goes on special in the past.

      • +1

Its been over a year now (Late 2017 - Early 2018)

    • +1

If the company was smart, they would be specific about the specification of the peg materials so that even in China they are produced to the original quality. If they move the manufacturing and don't ensure that the materials specs remain the same, then their brand should suffer accordingly.

    • That's a shame. Bought a pack so long ago I can't remember when (somewhere between 5 and 10 years ago I'd say, on special at the time of course).

Most of them are still going strong, even the ones left in the sun all the time.

Got 50 wooden pegs for $2 @ Reject shop few weeks ago.

    • +1

just buy wood pegs. they last forever & are cheap.

      • +1

I did that a few years ago thinking the same thing. The wood is going strong but the metal clasps have long given up the ghost.

        • +1

Might be bad quality. We had ours for at least 5 years, still the same as the day they were bought.

          • @bargainparker: Where did you get yours?

            • @empty456: Honestly couldn't remember. I know they were cheap. Just keeping them in shade whenever not used and they've been fine.

    • +3

These are terrible (from memory) - are these the cheapest ones at Bunnings?

Bought a pack of the cheapies, and a week later around half had broken.

      • Wooden or plastic or both?

        • +2

Neither. Both last a short time because they break after a few years of UV exposure or standing on them. Stainless steel pegs, eg, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/60-PC-Stainless-Steel-Clothes-Pe… beat them all.

Stainless steel pegs won't rust, last for many years (potentially decades), and have a stronger grip, which is great for those heavy towels or blankets.

          • @edathor: Thanks!! Just bought some!! 😊

          • @edathor: yeah i would not trust them being stainless steel. maybe some very low grade stuff

        • Yeah the Morgan Plastic ones. But I don't think the wood ones would far that much better

  • +2

damn, would have been perfect for v-day…

    • -3

Hmmmm enlighten me. Maybe I was using them wrong. D1ck fell off.

  • I like the Reva Super Hold for pants and heavy items.

For shirts and stuff I prefer these cheap plastic pegs from KMart/Target: https://www.target.com.au/p/target-48-pack-plastic-pegs/5729…
They are effectively disposable but they hold much better than Reva style.

  • Can someone tell me why you'd go for a plastic instead of wooden clothes pegs? if wood pegs are cheaper and last longer why bother getting the plastic ones?

    • +1

I was wondering the same and my first thought about wooden pegs is, "do they leach/stain"?

    • +3

I have white work shirts and the wooden pegs can leave a stain mark on the bottom of the shirts wear I hang them. Only do them like that because it helps rid any sweaty smelly or deodorant marks in the arm pits in the sun, instead of hanging down on coat hangers.

    • I like the colours.

      • Do different colours dry better?

  • +1

I use these stainless steel pegs and love them http://www.innovations.com.au/p/outdoor/tools-equipment/sspg… I know they cost 5 times more than this reva pegs deal.

  • +1

The super hold ones are excellent - these not so much..

  • +1

Just saw in Woolworths. Not made in Australia any more. Packed in Australia, made in China.

    • +3

Hmmmm just bought three packs. Should return them then.

Its a shame… This is what happens these days…

      Have an excellent product
      Cut costs
      Quality deteriorates
      Ppl stop buying
      Profits drop
Increase unit price to account for the delta in profit drop
Change packaging and increase price to give impression product is new and superior
      Repeat

      • You forgot to mention…

Reduce amount of product in pack

Though this hasnt happened yet with Reva
Just wait. Soon will be 20 pegs to the pack

  • Pincinox or nothing

    • Gourmet pegs, nice.

  • Sweet… I'll need 3 or 4 bags to get enough white pegs to satisfy my OCD.

  • Certainly noticed the quality of the Reva pegs has gone downhill recently. My old faded ones from 5+ years ago still going strong, but the last bag I bought about 9 months ago has had a lot of breakages - didnt even think to check that they changed manufacturers

  • Mega pegs are the best pegs I’ve every had. Lifetime guarantee. I’ve had mine for 15 years. Not totally indestructible as they can be chipped by the lawn mower.
I don’t keep mine on the line but they are suppose to still last the elements. They aren’t cheap though. But well worth it.

I pair them with this peg pouch.
