One of the better behaving extender. It can use an alternative radio band for uplink. It also works as a Wi-Fi audio receiver.

  • Thks OP. Hopefully some success with this unit. Had to pay for postage though as not near shop and there was a 1.5% charge for paypal. Did use CW though, but that was only 1% CB.

  • This deal was available when the the N300 went for $15 here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/436153

I didn't want to double it to $30 because there was not stock for pick-up, and I didn't want one that extended the 5GHz band, just the 2.4GHz.

But I wasn't aware of the Cross Band feature as alvian mentioned above. I have different names for my two frequencies, but if I could extend the 2.4GHz band while having the Linksys communicate with the router via 5GHz, then it could work well.

Having said that, my router's 5GHz is running ac, hope the Linksys running n @5GHz will not stuff anything up!

  • Would this be much better the. The xiaomi wifi extender ?

  • Just plugged ours in today. Works well. Extends our range now to back yard.
