BIP2 can already be pre-ordered but given that the only difference seems to be a 5ATM Water Resistance rating, (and slightly narrower), I don't really think that justifies it being double the cost of the original BIP.

The original BIP1 is still the better deal atm unless there's some really good specs that haven't been reported regarding the BIP2.

Maybe there'll be better deals on the BIP1 soon as the BIP2 becomes more widely available.

    • Would this be suitable to be worn if I plan to go swimming with it?

      • internet says no way you can swim with these, not even take them to a shower.

        • Wow that's not ideal then for my lifestyle

        • I've had mine for about 6 months. Sometimes been in the shower, many times in the rain. No issues so far.

          • @Phoebus: Swimming? I'm considering the Mi Band 3 otherwise.

        • I do take them in shower, but saltwater would not be good idea.

They are IP68 which is "they are water resistant in fresh water to a maximum depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes"

@Den: Taken mine swiming, in the bath, in the shower, in the sea, worn while welding and has splatter marks on the glass. It's indestructible.

I've swum in mine over a year, no problems until this weekend, and today its full of water, so no

      • I Have gone diving with this. No issues. Salt Water, fresh water, deep or shallow. Only thing is touch gets wonky when wet so just cant touch and scroll unless I dry it. no condensation or degradation of the product. it absolutely is waterproof.

        • Reading the above comment, maybe i got lucky? dont know but for 1.5yrs it has stood the test of water abuse.

    • And no NFC. I was holding out for the NFC thing. Might as well get the BIP1 then. Prices will drop once the BIP2 is out.

      • Yep same with me but with the Xiaomi band 3 but I doubt it'll be compatible with gpay

        • Yeah. Pretty sure it won't be. I'm just thinking I could use it for other NFC-related stuff.

        • But most likely tied to AliPay so essentially useless unless one of the 3rd-party apps manage to find a way to make it useful.

          • @4wd: Yep, actually Alipay present in mine first bip.. so should have NFC..

I was hoping to BT 5 and mic+speaker for phone functionality..

    • Well, declared standby time is down from 45 days to just 30 :-) (shh.. don't tell it to apple lovers)

    • Reading the specs a little more:

Gained a 3-axis accelerometer - so step/activity count may be a little more accurate.
Lost the barometric sensor - so no more altitude unless they're going to rely on the GPS for it.

As for the IP68, I've worn mine in the shower without a problem but not since I managed to crack the watch face, (Note to self: Rotate watch so face is under wrist when brushcutting :/ )

my BIP1 die after 10 months, gearbest provide only 15$USD refund, what a joke warranty. avoid buy from chinese website!

  • really do not understand, why Amazfit Bip is more expensive now than one year ago.

  • Be careful, the price is $99.99 now. And with 5% off code PURCHASE5, the final price is $94.99
