Bet its like their free drink bottle promotion so you have to spend something like $20-$30

    • can anyone confirm if you need to spend?

      • My current email has it clearly stated that no purchase is necessary

Requirement of children : Not a bargain - they r waaaaay overpriced plus ongoing hidden fees, customer service terrible… 18year+ lock in contract… 🙅🏼‍♂️

@T-Quizzle: We got ours as an high yield investment baby.

Just grab one inside Big W. There's plenty of them around.

Will I be able to get one if I act like a kid and throw tantrums in the store?

    • Hahaha I guess they would ask you politely to leave the store.

      • Or shown the timeout corner…

      • +6

        Or promote you to President

    • You must live out west.

  • Is it only in certain states? I’ve just checked online and I couldn’t find it in either catalogue online and I’m in nsw

    • Might be the case.

Can't see it in our catalogs here (WA), however @mat84 stated below that it was in his catalog starting 21 feb, and I can only see catalogs in WA for 14-27 feb, and 7-20 feb.

Received the catalog starting Thursday 21st February today in the ACT . Yes the back page here has "Free books for kids. Story time is on us. One new book released weekly in store. *While stocks last". The book pictured is "Hush Little Possum - An Australian Lullaby".

  • What if I want to collect for the kid that will be birthed out of me in about 7 weeks……since there's no age limit on "kids" - we are all somebody's kid really!

    • does kid gotta be present to get the book?

      • +1

No, I actually called them today… no kids required

        • +2

          that's not good
how long before these end up on ebay then

          • +1

@docians: good point though… kids should be mandatory, else anybody can claim and sell online.. :(.

            • +3

@nitmanit02: I just hope that most people who claim these books are genuine
and that books don't run out, and some children don't miss out

also hoping that big W genuinely have a decent stock, rather than use this to encourage people to show up, and end up shopping anyway

              • @docians: I guess better to go before office/work time, so that someone won't waste time in shopping :)
I just collected my copy this morning…

  • There was an Old Bloke who Swallowed a Chook

available on YouTube for free as some aussie guy reading the book and flicking through the pages

  • FYI: Top Ryde Big W (NSW) won’t let you take one unless you have a kid physically with you. My sister went to get one for my kid.

Just walked in and got one of the stand, said thank you to the attendant and walked out.
I have a kid but I was alone when I picked it up. The staff member asked how many kids I had in case I needed to more than one.

  • It’s not a spine book as such, but a stapled small 10pg flip book.

    • yup - paper book. would last 5 minutes with my little one :)

  • In Townsville the old lady is standing in front of the stand giving everyone a lecture on you should have a kid with you to get one… told her I'b bring one next week and she gave me one. I'll mention facebook next week and see how I go. She had the manager there and was complaining to them as I walked in.

    • My one asked, I said, they are at school.

  • -1

What's with the trailing apostrophe? Children is already plural, so it should be children's.

    • fixed
PS wasn't me that negged your comment

  • QV (Melbourne) has heaps on a table in the book section
