  • 13 inch not a 14 inch.

  • Grays' Lenovo refurbs are good.

    This is 13.3" FHD 1.25kg.

    • +2

Really? Yoga 520-14IKB has chassis of 1.73 kg according to this review

      • Hmmm … thanks!@ They have mixed specs from two different models in the listing,
and the 81C3000YAU part number is wrong.

I therefore retract my + vote and suggest anyone who has ordered consider cancelling.

I got a Yoga 920 refurb from Grays, never had a single issue and running perfectly.

I bought one just like this. Display problem straight out of box, sent it away repaired, same problem. Got a refund, dragged for months without a working laptop. Very disappointed.

    • What was the process for returning it? From what I've read, Gray's notorious for having dodgy return policies. Apparently, you pay to send it back and if they decide there's no fault, you pay the technicians for their time and for the return shipping back to you. Is that true?

      • I just created ebay return even though ebay warned that the return period was over. Next day they replied asking more details. I replied straight away. Then they again replied next day that they will organize a refund and to close the return request. I didn’t reply. Again next day they sent me two options whether it would be suitable to pick it from home or to drop it off at post office. I chose drop off and they sent me a reply with paid label to print. After I returned it, it took one week to get refund processed.
The laptop I returned was same as in this deal and had same problem as mentioned in above comment, right out of box.

        • Nearly the exact same thing happened to me with a Yoga-910 that I bought from Grays in December. Audio was faulty. Took nearly 2 months to resolve. Far too long and by the time I got it resolved they would not send me a replacement laptop. They had apparently sold their last one a couple of days before and would not give me the exact same one in a different colour. And then lo and behold a few days after they had processed my refund they had another one of these laptops for sale.

In the end though I found a much better brand new laptop for the same price.

          • @Rodo: Which laptop did you end up buying?

            Thanks

            • +1

@tranter: A MS Surface Pro (5th Gen). This has met my needs far better than what the Yoga-910 did. Battery life was extremely poor for the refurbished Yoga. It is big and heavy and difficult to use a a tablet because of it's size.

  • I have this. Good laptop, but big bottom bezel. Touch screen responsive, but brightness somewhat poor.

    • I have this and now a 720. Both have poor screen brightness. Fully agree with you. 720 is much worse than 520. I think its a common issue unless you get 4k version.
      Also no USB-C charging sucks

hit and miss with refurbs. roll the dice and see what happens…

  • I picked up a 700-11 a little while back from Grays…..quite worn, faulty audio board and broken hinge. They repaired the audio board but didnt replace the hinge. Whilst cheap enough for me to buy the part and do it myself I will be cautious with the "refurb" status.

  • I got my X1 carbon gen5 from them last May. Something went wrong a few days ago (within 1 year warranty), they issued me a full refund since no spare parts for repairing.

I will buy from them again if there is any other X1 carbon deal in the near future.

    • Did you have to pay to ship it back to them for repair?

      • No, I simply printed the post info from their email, which had already been paid by them.

In another word, I have used the laptop for free for nearly one year.

    • Wow hey, i bought my X1 gen 5 about the same time last year too from them. Mine's solid so far. What was your issue?

  • I have this, 13.3" one, got it from Gray's, no touchscreen, but was cheaper, $560. Nothing is as cheap, light and powerful that I've found. Screen is nice. The chip gets throttled a bit under sustained load. Quite well built. Battery life is about 4-7 hours.

    • I've got the 14", I use ThrottleStop to unlock the CPU, it goes from 88% 1.58GHz to 100% 2.45 GHz.

      • How goes the fan on it when you unlock? Turbine?

I hate fan noise and used Notebook Fan Control (and selected yoga 510) and that seemed to do the trick.

        • It's loud, but I've heard worse. You can tell it's working but not bad enough that you want to throw it out of the window.

It likes to idle at 50c (near silent) and doesn't really go above 75c when unlocked.

  • Have a 720 refurb from them. Quite happy with it. Bargain for the ~700 i paid

  • Does it comes with backlit keyboard? And is it possible to extend RAM?

    • +2

      Yes and no, soldered.

  • Bought two refurbs from them before - one $300 laptop and a $100 laptop. Both looked well taken care of and even can pass as vg to excellent. Obvious signs of use are oil marks and dirt on the rubber at the corners. Upgraded both with SSDs and now running quite well.

  • I have the 530 and got that from graysonline refurb. Is amazing & build quality reminds me of the old macbook pros although the brightness of the screen only really has 3 levels (80,90,100). Everything else is exactly what you would need for a modern thin laptop. Bezel is a bit thick on bottom due to needing the space during tablet flip mode. Also has a fingerprint sensor for logging into windows which can be used also in tablet mode (keyboard disables). The speakers suck in regular use because they are orientated to be best used in tablet mode for some reason. Only difference between this and mine is that the 530 has thunderbolt usb pd charging while this cant charge via USB C. That was a deal breaker for me so I paid extra for the 530. Keep that in mind when buying, it uses an AC adapter. Otherwise is great when paired with an Active Pen 2, I use mine for my uni math classes. The pen can be bought on Amazon US for $70-$80 AUD shipped to Australia from the US via Amazon Global.

RAM is not expandable since soldered, is on the 15 inch version though which apparently has a DIMM slot thats blank IIRC.

Please guys save this last one for me
Have to hock wedding ring in the morning

  • If anything goes wrong and you need GraysOnline "warranty" don't expect it to mean anything. They'll still try and charge you a callout fee if "nothing is wrong" ($140!) and even if you have a problem that is quite obvious they'll probably overlook it and say "we couldn't find anything wrong with it"
You just waste 4-6 weeks and $140 without getting anywhere.

  • So I'm confused. This is 13.3 or 14? Why does description say 14.

  • This item is out of stock.

  • I had a poor experience with Grays and a 920 refurb. Arrived and several keys on the keyboard didn't work or would perform the wrong functions (left arrow would be like pressing volume up etc). Took some time to try software fixes but confirmed it was a hardware issue. Took a video of the issue and immediately reported the faulty item to Grays via Ebay's faulty item dispute system.

Grays confirmed the fault and got me to print off a free return label. Shipped it back to them in the box and packaging it came in. Confirmed it arrived.

Grays then requested that I cancel/resolve my open Ebay dispute BEFORE they would provide me with a refund, this would leave me with no recourse if they decided not to return my funds. I kindly declined their request highlighting their unethical conduct and instead escalated the dispute to Ebay as Grays continued to sit on the refund.

The escalation to Ebay worked and I finally got my refund, it was a horrible drawn out returns experience.

Aside from the keyboard issue, the laptop was great, if it hadn't have been such a poor returns experience, I probably would have had a go at trying another refurb via Grays.

  • PayPal is good at protecting buyers 👍

    • And you'll need it with Gray's online. I had one die within 20 odd days and they keep refusing to help unless I closed the case and keep insisting on repair (I wanted refund).

  • I got mine delivered today. Lots of scratches in the back but all working OK.

  • Mine arrived today. Screen is faulty (doesn't display half the time when turned on, electrical fault / flashing display and such.

    • Same here bro… everything is perfect except the screen. When I lodged issue they said send us pics of box may be it is damaged in transit.
      Expecting response from them today

      • My box was a bit munted when it arrived. Probably the reason.
