Gigabyte Aorus RTX 2080ti Xtreme Windforce Video Card $2099 + Shipping @ Umart

120

Been looking buying one of these for a while and then found this for $2099, so snapped one up. Compatible prices I've seen are around $2249.

There are definitely cheaper cards out there but if this is the one you're after then this seems a pretty good price!

I wish I had $2k+ to throw at a GPU

    • +2

I gotta admit, been saving for a new card since 2015 :S

      • +6

allthough I would (probably) never do that myself….I commend your dedication!

    • +1

even though 1800$+ iphones suck too, some can justify that it serves as a camera, phone, gaming device etc etc

what about a graphics card where RTX support is limited after six months and DLSS is a joke….

You should also link some where to get a bank loan

    • +2

      Buy bank shares.
They're quite cheap at the moment

      $2099 - WBC

How does it feel having like an 8 year statutory warranty? Lol.

    • Haha, never thought of that 🤣

  • +1

Though seriously, who would pay 2k for a GPU. Even if I had 2k to spend on a GPU I wouldn't do it.

    • +1

      Software developers testing computational programs
      Engineers/Scientist using that software
      Bitcoin miners
      etc

      • Work based PC can a tax write off and calculated for depreciation over a few years. So even if up front the cost can be tens of thousands, it could end up being much less out of pocket.

    • +1

You think that's expensive? Go to any pc site and look at the workstation gpus xD

*Doesn't justify this. A price bump so significant for a relatively small performance increase is rediculous.

      • +1

        hahaha, I saw…latest is like $10k……

    • +2

Are you also surprised at other things you can't afford that other people seem to be able to?

  • +1

    Rediculous

Great, time to ditch the 3dfx Voodoo 3 card - not sure if the Celeron 300A will keep up :)

    • Not sure whether my Barton can keep up as well? Lol

I remember spending £250 on one of those back in the day, Hate to think how much I've spent on GPUs over the last 20 years. At least 6k.

      2080ti,
      980ti x 2
      Hd6990
      8800gts x2
      9600pro
      GeForce 2 mx
      Voodoo 3dfx
      Riva 128

You're lucky with that small list ;)
I've bought and overclocked every graphics card generation since Intel last made graphics cards around the time of the start of your list.
Probably lost $500 a year for the past 20-25 years..
I'm not even playing many games any more but I can't stop upgrading, Ive spent too much time learning about this technology over so long I still get a huge kick out of it…

        • Lol remember the terrible old S3 VERGE I think it was called?

          • @wardog: Oh yeah, never was there an S3 card that could respectively play games.
I remember a time before graphics cards even had heatsinks!

            • @Danthemanz: And back when they took up the whole length of the case 🤣

Well… They kinda have moved that way again but you know…

              • @wardog: Yep. With proper mounting slots at the other end of the case to hold it.
That type of design isn't totally lost though, some servers have keep it going over the years.

    • If you oc to 450mhz, you should be OK.

  • Bargain, I'll take two to set up in SLI.

  • Does it come with a free PC?

Sadly this isn't a tech fast bargain

  • Super overkill but nice to look at.

1050 ti ($260) / 1050 ti low profile ($275 my current card) to 1080 ($660) is where it is at for value nowadays imho..

unless going 4k of course then you have no other option but to go 1080 ti ($960) or rtx 2080 ti ($2099+ lol)

1050 ti low profile does fine for 1080p 60 fps medium to high settings most games.

    • guess you haven't seen a benchmark in the past… 2 years? a good AIB RX 570 is cheaper than any 1050 ti, and walks all over it in performance. Unless you really can't connect that PSU cable.

      • Yeah I should have put disclaimer I have a bias towards the green team but also love the red team.

Feel free to make a list for the red team I am just not 100% on their performance per value as much as the green team.

        • I hope this was when RX 570s were crazy expensive. The 1050ti is a rip off at it's cost compared to the 570 :/

          • @N1NJ4W4RR10R: Do they make low profile rx 570 580s?

            • @AlienC: Maybe, but that's also a valid situation for a 1050ti.

              • @N1NJ4W4RR10R: 1050ti low profile exist.. I have one in my HP 8200 Compaq Elite SFF

I know not everybody goes low profile but the fact that nvidia had this option made me lean more towards the green team

What are the pros of going red besides value

I know green has more features surrounding the nvidia eco system that the red team doesn't have I think

                • @AlienC: Nvidia has more features, problem I have with them is that they act anti competitively. Biggest gripe is Nvidias GameWorks games hitting AMD cards hard and their Physx disabling themselves if they detected AMD as primary GPU. It's not the worse actions a company has done, I personally don't feel like supporting them.

                  • +1

@FabMan: Feelings the same. I simply refuse to buy Nvidia cards for years now, even though they are better for games generally.

That goes for Intel. My pc is running an ancient Core2Quad Q9450 since I also refuse to replace it with another Intel. Now, I can finally have a new rig with Ryzen 3

            • @AlienC: No, the best low profile card AMD made is RX560, which is less powerful than 1050ti.

              • @seriousquokka: So AMD user have no options for low profile above RX560? wow damn that sux

                • @AlienC: True. I guess it’s because AMD Polaris architecture is much more power hungery and produce more heat than Nvidia counterpart does, thus making low profile rx570 is just not practical.

    • Actually there are still games where the RTX 2080Ti can't keep a consistent 144fps or 240fps for those 144hz and 240hz monitors respectively…..on everything maxed out, that is…..turning settings down just so you can reach those doesn't count….

    • Eh, by that point I'd go for either a 2060 (slightly less for less money and being new) or a vega 64 (if your PSU can handle it).

No point going second hand when you could get slightly less for less, or more (depending on whether the game favours Nvidia or not) for slightly more.

Gotta undervolt the vega 64, but that's no trouble with wattman.

      • There has never been a better time for buying 2nd hand!
Just need a little patience. I've been experimenting with egpus and in the past two months I've picked up:
        1080ti - $700
        1070 itx -$250
        Vega 56 - $400

Ultimately I want a Radeon VII though for Mac/Windows dual booting. $1150 is hard, even worse when you can't find stock :(

        • You'd be hard pressed to find any GTX 1070 for $250 outside a one-off sale. They're still going for between $300 - $350

  • +1

are u the guy from umart today?

    • +2

I'm sure there were other guys there but I did pick it up from the 8MP store. :)

      • HAHAHAHA i saw ya with a woman right? i was also there picking up some super expensive pc hardware… $10 Generic Air Duster 400 mL

Full jelly brah, what u gonna run?

        • Hahaha yeah that was me, dunno, reinstalled a few games ATM, not much out really though. Got apex running on it obviously, goes alright. Tried Witcher 3 on it this morning and fallout 76 ran maxed no issues but didn't make f76 any better lolol. 🤣

          • @wardog: whats your full setup?

            • @gotnomoney: Hmmm, mostly not too flash:
              Intel 6700k
              Gigabyte g1 gaming 7 ga-170x
              2x 8gb gskill ripjaws
              2x 24" BenQ 1080 144hz monitors with gsync

Now added a Samsung 970 1tb m2 for the boot drive and this video card.

When I built it initially idea was to alternate between upgrading CPU and GPU rather than all at once to make it a little easier on the wallet, so this card will hopefully do the job for quite some time lolol.

  • Makes the prebuilt 2080TI deal recently look even better.
