  • The price should drop more because recently the overseas price of mate 20 pro dropped a lot.

    • +1

      Agreed.

Best to wait as P30 will be announced in roughly a month, and of course S10 tomorrow…..

      • Yeah, Mate 20 Pro is under HK$6000 now.

      • Or best to wait the mate 30. Or p40.

    • still the same price in China and you need to pay like $50-$100 AUD more to get it

  • +1

Does the bonus watch get mentioned on the receipt?

    • The Watch GT offer is only offered to purchases made from Optus, Vodafone, JBHIFI, Mobiciti, Kogan.com

      Not Amazon.

That's not true. Amazon is included. Rep mentioned this in the original thread. It comes under Other.

        • Where is the comment for that from the rep? Unless someone have claimed it with an Amazon purchase I'm not convinced

          • @neonlight: I bought 2 mate 20 pro from Amazon and 2 watches just got delivered today

  • +4
    • Ah, good point. Not quite as good a deal then.

    • +1

Exactly. Not sure where the above came from saying Amazon can claim

    • Not saying you are wrong, but there is provision on the claim form for 'other' in addition to the five retailers explicitly mentioned.

    • bought 2 phones from Amazon, 2 watches just get delivered today

  • +1

Price is back to $1,379.00 now.

Guys I've been looking at Mate 20 pro reviews and everyone is saying very positive things..I went to the optus store to test out the front facing camera and the photo is completely processed. I turned off the beauty feature (set it 0) but the camera just changed my skin tone making it look smooth and light…very strange..I looked like a painting, not realistic at all. My apologies but its hard to describe you just have to test it out yourself.

Before buying the phone..please go into a store and make sure you're happy with it.

    • Its a think on phones targeting asia. Oppo and Oneplus also have these 'beauty' features where they make your skin blemish free and lighten it up too

      pretty annoying imo.

    • Agree that front camera is effed up.

I switched from iPhone to this because I know I won't be taking much selfies.. I don't recommend this phone if u r a selfie person but the back camera goes off… Especially using Pro Mode.

I'm pretty happy with the phone except for the front camera. Note reviews almost never mentions front cam lens

      • You can just turn off beauty mode - all huawei phones have this as it's what the asian market wants apparently
Pretty funny though how ridiculous you look with that mode turned on

        • i have the p20 pro and beauty mode off still looks like its on.
beauty mode 0 = still looks about 3

      • When you turn on camera, don't choose 'portrait', use 'photo', than click 'setting', turn off 'master AI'. Once u switch to front, default is 'portrait' again, choose'photo', than self shot, the picture looks normal.

    • This is common in almost all Chinese phones. If you don’t look like a porcelain doll, local users will deem the camera defective.

The post-processing seems to be done at a low level, because it even affects video calls.

    • Yes the front and back camera both have this digitally processed effect so definitely a huge turn off
      /2c

    • I was looking at the p20 pro and the mate and find the cameras all have a bit of a painting effect, it seems distorted like theres lots of noise in the photo. I know what people mean that it is an innovative camera, but I have only tried it briefly in store, id like to see it in low light.

      • +2

        Obviously,you don't Tinder

    • +1

You are right. This phones camera is not as great as it claimed to be considering I have used pixel 2 in the past

It's an overpriced phone. The real deal should be under 1k by now. Huawei has been putting out so much hype and marketing and artificially kept the price high for profits.

They want to market themselves as the Samsung and iPhone killer.

In China if you sell too cheap people would doubt its quality. That's the mindset over there

      • +2

Um, it's the best Android phone out - they don't have to keep hyping it, it has no competition.

Wow I'm disappointed guys, came for the US Huawei comments that Aussies love to joke about.

I'll kick it off. Heres a video of Western world's poster wonder that Australia (not the people, but the country as a whole) kisses up to:

    • Thanks for repeating yourself. Why don't you say something about prosecution of Huawei CEO's daughter as well. And she ran a business in Aus? We need coverage more plz!?

  • How are the cameras compared to the P20 Pro?

  • It amazes me nobody ever talks about the Mate 20X here. I know it's a unique beast that isn't for most but it's even better than the Mate 20 Pro for some of us.

With these price drops on the 20 Pro, is the 20 X also seeing price cuts overseas?

    • Because it's another grey import and no B28

Plus it's camera is inferior to both p20 and mate 20 pro

Mate 20x also tries too hard to be a switch killer. The phone itself also too big like a phablet

Price on mate 20x isn't cheaper neither

You either buy the best or not buy at all don't settle the middle. At least for Huawei phones

      • +1

Camera is identical to the 20 Pro. Otherwise I wouldn't be interested.

It's flat screen I prefer, it loses some cool features though like proper water rating, and in screen finger reader of that matters. Lower screen res doesn't bother me. It gains an amazing 5000mAh battery. Yeah it should be cheaper than the Pro. I guess it's a niche phone and niche products tend to stay inflated.

I'm still keen. B28 isn't the deal breaker to me that it is for most here.

        • I've had both the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro.
The Mate 20 is the phone YOU want. The battery life is mind boggling, the inscreen fpr shit on the Pro, the camera on the non-pro is nearly as good, it has the flat screen, the notch is soooo much better compared to the Pro and it's so much cheaper.

If you haven't given it a go, I really think you should rethink your decision.

          • @KLoNe: Thanks I will look into that, hadn't considered that model before.

          • @KLoNe: That I would agree. I test drove the mate 20 (non pro) liked it better than the pro.

However at that price point might as well get a Note 9

This is my order from cheapest to most expensive in order of bang for buck.
