What a horrendous company HP are to deal with. I had this laptop and wasn't impressed. It wasn't as good as the Dell XPS 13 which I used to have nor my two current Lenovos in the Yoga 920 and the X1 Carbon. The X1 Carbon is the best of the lot.

I personally have never really had to deal with HP laptops, but I know JB HI FI has been incredible when dealing with phone, smartwatch and computer issues, not hesitating to repair or replace the faulty or damaged product (At least in my experiences). I am not sure how other people's experiences have gone with them.

Can second this, HP is useless for support. Had a few of these laptops at an old job and 50% ended up with problems within 6 months.
Plus their policy (not sure if they are still doing it) of linking your access to BIOS ect updates to your warranty means that they can sit on my middle finger and swivel. :/

      • Yep, Apple had improved but the US companies are generally poor. Amazon is a highlight, but hp has had a bad reputation for decades, plus their build quality tends to be poor. Even Acer have prioritized improving their quality more than hp.

    • Why do you recommend carbon over the 920.was interested in getting the 920 or x1 thinkpad

      • The 920 is style over substance. It looks nice but it's noticeably heavier than the X1 and for those who travel the X1 is just nicer to carry in your hands around the office or in you bag to work. Ironically I get a huge amount of people asking me about my X1 around the office despite it not looking that fancy. The new 7th gen will look a but more fancy as it will have carbon weave.

The keyboard on the X1 is miles better except for the stupid reversal of the ctrl and fn keys but that can be changed in the bios.

Plus the screen is a bit bigger which is always nice.

        • Thanks mate for the feedback. I really am considering the x 1 ThinkPad.

I've dealt with HP support many, many times and they've always been pretty decent.

Every time I've had an issue, they've sent out a repair technician to my house. And when my laptop had catastrophic failure many months into owning it, they did a full refund.

Maybe I just got lucky each time though.

Would recommend those interested think of getting a surface product instead. Hp customer support is very bad and their products don't nearly feel or operate as premium as you would think for the price you pay.

    • I haven't had too many problems with Elitebooks, but then I have 3 years to argue with them.

  • Or you can go with its bigger brother, 15 in 4K screen, with a dedicated graphics card.
One minus is win 10 home, if you are using it for work. Also, no remote desktop.
Just bought late morning today for work https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/hp/hp-sp…

First one had a dead screen, but JB Hi-Fi close to work changed it (bought from another store).
    No issues. Comes with pen.

Edit: wanted to buy Dell XPS15 with similar specs, with win 10 pro, but this was excluded from sale, so it made the decision easier https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/dell/del…

    1920x1080 :-(

  • I have this laptop (nowbougth for personal use) and had the predecessor as well (through work). With the old model , there was a recall in the office for a 15 minute fix to the previous model to address overheating issues. Other than that i did like the laptop to the point where i bought the current one for personal (looked at this and the dell but chose this cause of the aluminium keys and had a usb port in addition to a USB c port).

I bought this from a hp sale which brought it to $1.8k in july last year, then amex $150 cash back so came to $1.6k - so could be had for cheaper! haven't had to deal with hp servicing yet but hopefully i won't have to.
