Does the smart plug work with google home/alexa?

I had a quick Google and it doesn't seem they are compatible with either

HAD a Google or DID one?

        • Had

  • Will this do energy monitoring over time? Description isn't clear on this.

It seems like a really bad idea to have a doorbell accessible through wifi …

  • Sonoff ones are Alexa / Google compatible I think.

  • I've been using sonoff plugs and would recommend them over orvibo. they both work(ed) with alexa

Last 3 orvibos I ordered could not connect to my network. I have a hunch they're geo locked or similar as the last part of their MAC addresses do not match the others I've got. One day I might flash their firmware to see if I can use them…

I've now been getting sonoff socket plugs and their 'basic' switches where you splice them into your cables (easy to swap lamp switched to theses as they only have 2 wires, no ground). sonoff also have the ability to turn off the LED indicator light. A must have feature if you're going to use them in the bedroom, or just don't want a bright LED. You can get 3pack of sonoff S20 sockets for about AU$40 from aliexpress. The switches are $7 each.

    • Assuming splicing is highly illegal right? Not judging as I'm not one of those "You're house will burn down and insurance won't pay" people but just trying to understand how it works

      • You basically rewire your socket to have WiFi capabilities powered by the house main rather than an outlet.

Would not try it myself and personally would not use cheaper products as yeah I don't want my house to burn down.

    • The sonoff S20 worked for awhile for me but kept disconnecting and had to keep reconnecting and reconfiguring it with the app which got annoying and tiresome.

It does work but very hit or miss so you get what you pay for.

This is the standalone plug in model not the DIY replace power outlet one.

  • For the doorbell which would be the best plug type to get for the ringer? Us, eu or uk? Do any plug straight in here or they will all need an adaptor?

    • The doorbell runs off battery and the power pack is simply for recharging. Since it's using micro USB you could use your phone charger for example to recharge.

      • Yes but the doorbell comes with a separate ringer that plugs into a regular power point. For the ringer which plug should i choose? Us, uk or eu?

        • US plug would stick out the least with an adapter. Alternatively Xiaomi power strips are good for these.

          • @Clear: Just ordered the US plug but have now read that the US power voltage is different to Australia and it might get fried. Have emailed them asking to send the EU plug instead. Hopefully they change it for me.

            • @Scroosh: They're usually 110/220V so it shouldn't matter. What's your order number? I'll check.

              • @Clear: 4871444

              • @Clear: Any update?

                • @Scroosh: Their timezone is different to ours. So I'll know later this arvo.

                  • @Clear: Ok cheers

                    • @Scroosh: Seems to be multi voltage.

                      • @Clear: Got a msg that they changed it to EU plug so all good

  • Finally received my in the mail today, can't get it to connect to my network at all.

      • Thanks for the help but that doesn't work either, I try to hold the button again to make it flash blue like in the video but nothing happens. I try to add it on the official app and it endlessly tells me to restart the device and try again.
