    • +8

Same thing happened last time, rep said it was legit, then orders were cancelled as "pricing error".

      • +4

Sounds like the company needs to be blacklisted on here

    • How does that work for SEO?

  • Damn I tried but no luck;

Even at $475 I would have been happy with a 'grey' phone.

Then this time next year, I'll get a S10 'grey' hahaha

  • +3

    Somebody gonna get a hurt…somebody…!

    • +3

Nope mate it is a practice
I believe done on purpose for some reason
I bought so many cheap items via pricehipster
Every single time I got refunded

      • +2

        Free (bad) publicity lol

      • +2

To clarify, you didn't buy them via Price Hipster. Price Hipster is just a directory. If this is indeed what this store is doing then I'll remove them from Price Hipster.

  • +1

Interested to see if orders are honoured.

  • Page goes to a contact us now :P

  • coral blue is now back to $1028… WTF

  • It shouldnt be a pricing error if op called and got confirmation it was legit.

    Fingers crossed ill get mine.

If i dont, they can keep the $0.0000001 they earnt in interest while having my money

  • wow thats such an amazing price!

  • +1

    Can't beleive I missed this! :(

    • Would have gotten two, as I have a friend that needs a new phone too haha.

    • I dont think you missed anything mate.

    • Don't worry, getting a refund isn't as exciting as it may seem.

      • Damn, can't believe that the OP rang them and they said it was correct.. That's so annoying

  • +2

Just got confirmation from calling that it's been listed at the wrong price.

    • Well… that sucks.

    • +2

I called and was told the price is correct and my order went through :/
      Such a mess lol

  • +3

its planned, like Kogan has been doing. They might want to pull out some information

  • -6

damn….. If only people hadn't "I don't need this but I'll buy it anyway" If anyone has buyers remorse I'll happily procure from them to replace my cracked S7 Edge

  • Epic!

  • wonder if it was a price error in the end? if it was… vote revoked :(

  • I haven't heard back. Who has been refunded so far?

  • +1

Maybe they wanted to test the performance of their website and posted a "pricing error"?

  • order placed, but now my account history is showing order cancelled
have revoked my vote. either wrong pricing (despite people calling to verify) or insufficient stock
    good deal otherwise

    • Mine still says pending

      • +1

        Same. Fingers crossed. Everything crossed!

      • Same.

        • +1

I don't think there are enough body parts to cross for this price error to be honoured. It's not even in the realms of plausible.

          • @p3nf0ld: Cancelled. something about this credit thing too. but think its a full refund

      • I got an email that said credit memo

I sincerely hope its not a store credit!

        • I got an email that said credit memo

A minute after I got the credit memo email, I got an email from Paypal saying I've been refunded.

  • -4

hope mine goes through. Can probably sell and put money towards the s10!

  • +3

    Not legit.

    • They knew that they were doing. Should fulfil the orders.

      • So you think they had nothing to do today so they decided to create some work for themselves cancelling a ton of orders and issuing refunds?

        • +4

Someone above suggested SEO - a conspiracy theory but certainly would have generated a ton of traffic

Someone above suggested SEO - a conspiracy theory but certainly would have generated a ton of traffic

Hmm, but what is the point? People click through, buy it, then get disappointed when it's cancelled, and the store has to deal with manually cancelling and refunding orders and apologizing to unhappy customers. It's a lose-lose situation.

            • +1

@eug: Except your random store will now appear higher in search results, generating more revenue that offsets any loss of goodwill. All publicity is good publicity, right?

            • +4

@eug: Piss a few people off in turn for significantly higher web traffic as they rank higher in google search? Absolutely.

They're nowhere to be found when you search for s9+. How do they rank higher?

                • +3

@eug: SEO is a long game, not overnight.

OK so this 1 instance of us all clicking through to i-tech's website through OzBargain will drive up their search rankings one day in the future? Is it fact, or a theory?

                • @eug: Firstly, search engines wouldn't update that quickly and it's not going to rank for that competitive keyword.
Secondly, the traffic and links from here will help a site's overall authority and trust which is more important in the long term.

                  • @tagin:

Firstly, search engines wouldn't update that quickly

This OzB deal is on page 5 if you search for galaxy s9+ so Google updates pretty quickly, it just doesn't think i-tech is very important.

Secondly, the traffic and links from here will help a site's overall authority and trust which is more important in the long term.

Or, i-tech made a mistake and had an incompetent staff member answering the phone?

                    • @eug: Ofcourse ozbargain would, its an authority site. Im saying that you wont see itech page anywhere for that term that quickly.

                    • @eug: One way to check this could be to do a search on "samsung mobile phone" before and after. Maybe a future search would rank higher now?

                      • -1

                        @robertm:

One way to check this could be to do a search on "samsung mobile phone" before and after. Maybe a future search would rank higher now?

They're a PC parts store, it seems unusual for them to want to spend time making fake prices to boost their ranking for mobile phones.

If you go to their website you wouldn't even know they sold phones unless you specifically looked for the 1 small line on the whole front page that says 'Mobile phone", read through the whole list of accessory manufacturers, then to "Samsung GSM mobile phone" … where the S9 isn't listed.

People are very quick to accuse companies without any evidence. Simple price error? Impossible! The only explanation is that they're scamming us, or scamming Google's search rankings. There's absolutely no way they made a mistake.

It's definitely possible that they're trying to boost their search rankings for a product category they're not known for, but looking at the rather average website they have, I'm more inclined to believe they just have some incompetent staff members there who made a mistake, both on the website and the phone. If they were really trying to boost their search rankings, surely they would have picked a computer part rather than a mobile phone since they're a computer store?

                        • @eug: This is what I was thinking as well. The only logical reason I could think they would do this on purpose would be if they plan to move more into the mobile phone space in the future. Possible I guess.

Other options- they don't know what they are doing or are just testing things out!

  • I do buy parts and recently a QuadCopter from this site. I know the seller is legit. I can't comment on the price, however.

  • +2

Well, just got an email cancellation to my order. Fun while it last guys!

  • I know it's too good to be true.

  • +4

Is it really a price error if they have confirmed verbally their price? I understand that companies are not obligated to honour genuine price errors but in this case a further clarification and confirmation appear to have been made and price verified. When does it stop being an error?

  • Read other members comments about orders cancelled.

  • Price error or whatever but they kept lying that this price is true. Old search engine optimisation technique. Now they will be at top of Google search.

  • +3

I suspect dodgy search engine tactics.

  • +4

How many negs before the store is banned?

If it was a legitimate pricing mistake, they wouldn't have confirmed it

  • Cancellation email received.

This is a really strange one… Why was the price confimed legitimate by multiple people?

    • Bcos we asked before we placed the order bcos it did appear quite good. I called to check if it was Australian stock. Asked price. She said to wait and will ask manager. Came back said yes that's the price and we have 3 instock right now. I already had it in my cart and ordered. Nowing there was insufficient stock I didn't post on OzBargain. Called then after getting a cancellation email. Spoke to the manager followed by the incompetent staff and both apologized profusely. Said can't find the ones showing instock. Likely to be database error.

  • +1

    Its a cheap publicity stunt!

  • Order cancelled despite price being confirmed earlier. Not impressed.

  • That didn't last long…. That's what she never told me

  • Wow refunded PayPal disappointed.

  • Wow cancelled after they confirmed the price… Never shopping with them again

    • How dare they not honour a $450 pricing error let's never shop there again!!

      • Did you conveniently miss the part where laga234 said that the vendor CONFIRMED the price? Apologies if English isn’t your first language. English can be pretty hard to comprehend at times ;(.

        • -1

How dare they hire staff members who make mistakes? Everybody should be 100% perfect! Never shopping with them again!

          • +3

@eug: They’ve done this multiple times

            • -3

@BarryBargain88: So has Officeworks, and they have a much, much larger staff and tech budget. Does that mean Officeworks are doing it on purpose too?

  • Omg thought I got a really good deal there
    Damn !

Another Price Error mess like The Good Bad Guys

  • Blacklist vote for me.

  • Might sound like a dumb question but what does SEO stand for?

  • Refunded

    • At least they got that part right!

  • The cost price of the phone is around 600 to 700 ex gst. I used to order from a central warehouse, though I don't know the cost price direct from samsung.

No surprise here that they refunded everyone.

  • +2

So they confirmed stock & price verbally then cancelled the order. Unacceptable.

  • give them bad review on google very unaceppting

  • Don't trust vertech-au on eBay either. They just cancelled my s9 plus order for 575 before 10%. They msgd this "hi, looks like this listing is wrong. it is actually demo machine for reseller not for public. we will have to cancel and refund for you. sorry for the inconvenience!"
