Cheaper than the Harvey Norman deal $268

By 1 whole cent. If you can't negotiate someone at HN to move 2 cents you're doing it wrong.

Also: the number of HN vastly outnumbers Costco. Oh, you don't need to pay to shop at Harvey Norman either so there's a bonus!

You're doing it wrong if you willingly choose to give to Gerry…

      • Same applies with JB. I'm sure they'll take off $1.02 if you asked them, it's 0.38% difference.

      • -3

        Yeah but he’s bloody Australian…

          So was Christopher Skase

$0.01 plus the cost/value of an extra band no?

    • By 1 whole cent. If you can't negotiate someone at HN to move 2 cents you're doing it wrong.

Does HN include the extra band?

      • They did. Unsure if they still do. From the below comment it doesn't look like.

        Originally these were pre-order bonuses.

Do you post this in every Costco deal?

      • Normally Costco is more than 1 cent cheaper. What would be the point in paying a membership if it wasn't?

        • +3

          Extra band.

          • @RSmith: Also was given out at Harvey Norman. May no longer be, but I'm sure they'll beat their advertised price or provide you with a "bonus".

            • @pennypincher98: … but price matching is not a deal.

              • @RSmith: OW will price beat by 5%.

Price matching isn't a deal obviously lol, but if someone at Harvey Norman/JB says they'll do it for $250 or something, are you going to say no?

                • @pennypincher98: That's depending on your luck, and people have mixed experience matching Costco prices with other retailers.

                  • @RSmith: Well, it depends on whether you have a Costco nearby and whether you have a membership.

My nearest Harvey Norman is 10 mins away. My nearest Officeworks is around 15-20. I think I'll try there first?

                    It's a fact - Costco don't have many stores.

                    • @pennypincher98:

                      It's a fact - Costco don't have many stores.

                      No doubting that.

            • @pennypincher98: They definitely won't price beat Costco if you aren't a member, and even then……

    • Also: the number of HN vastly outnumbers Costco

But people don't go to buy only electronic items. People buy the groceries and other household stuff that you can't buy at Harvey Norman. If someone has already got the membership, this deal might appeal to them.

      • I understand you are very pro-Costco. You must be a city dweller.

Not everyone lives right next to a Costco. In fact, my nearest Costco is around 1h 40mins away. People in Newcastle would be even further away.

You can get all that stuff elsewhere. Everyone else manages fine.

        • You must be a city dweller.

You got that right. Actually, Costco is 5 mins walk from where I live.

          • @RSmith: Well aren't you lucky. If everyone lived within 5 mins walk of a Costco maybe this deal would have more votes.

How many people are within reasonable driving distance though, let alone walking distance?

            • @pennypincher98: Doesn't matter about the votes. Lot of people don't live near Costco, but make a weekly trip to Costco.

            • @pennypincher98:

How many people are within reasonable driving distance though, let alone walking distance?

How many people on Ozbargain want/are able to buy a new Tesla? Not many, but that deal has over 2.5k up votes.

@aja12: Sorry I didn't realise Costco and red bands were a running Ozbargain joke. Can you link me to the thread it originally started please?

@pennypincher98: No, but I can point out how hypocritical you’re being.

And yet, what’s in the title for your last Ozbargain post? Water bottles at Macquarie Centre Woolworths. How many people live within 5 minutes walk of the Macquarie Centre? How many people are within reasonable driving distance, let alone walking distance, of Macquarie Park?

No. It doesn't seem to be given with any of the other retailers for free. Thanks OP

  • I don't need this… no you don't need this!

    • But do you want it? I know I do. Damn!
