  • Awesome deal, great laptop.

I just returned this laptop. Noise from the fan is like Boeing A380 jet engine. It's so noisy that you can't focus on anything working on this laptop. Not to mention that fan kicks in pretty much for no reason, even when on idle or just web browsing. You may tune it up undervolting a CPU. If you can cope with this issue machine is blazing fast.

Not to be critical, but seems like a lot of Dells have these kinds of issues, I not great quality? I've got a Dell and the fan also goes pretty loud and BSOD sometimes

    • Tiny little heatsink and single fan, restrictive grill intake on the fan too, possible the worst cooling of any available laptop.

I know this isn't the point but Airbus make the A380 :) And I agree it's noisy compared to newer planes like Boeing 787 from my own experience (not scientific).

    • Try placing a couple of matchboxes or something similar height at the back of the laptop, should cool it by a few degrees and perhaps lower the fan speed. Make sure not to block the intake with the matchboxes though.

  • Non Touch.

You can get a touch version with similar specs, but a slightly less powerful CPU on the outlet store for around that price.

    • which one would u recommend?

      • Depends what you want it for. The only downside if the Dells is the substandard battery life.

You can't to too wrong with the inspiron 13 7000 7370 from $1259 or the 15.6" version (with slightly better cpu & graphics) for $1309

I was about to buy one, but those batteries probably won't last more then 4hrs of moderate use.

  • According to this:
    http://www.ebaystores.com.au/Official-Dell-Australia-Store/L…
The sale for this particular laptop ends in 18 hours, so I'm not sure about the expiry date that you've listed.

    • I added the coupon code expiry date. If price goes up, mods or I will mark it as expired

Any deals on a surface laptop?

    • Microsoft has 15% off on some of them. Combine with AMEX $100 cashback

I can't find a lot of reviews or external information about this laptop. In particular though, I'm interested in the comparison to the XPS from the other Dell deal on the front page. Just from the specs alone, this looks to be much better value, so why would anyone opt for an XPS over this?

The Inspiron range are their budget models with less consideration for hardware longevity, thermals, quality control etc. They're still great laptops for the budget conscious though, I've ordered plenty for family and friends particularly through the Dell Outlet.

The XPS tends to come with extra bells & whistles
Like USB 3.1 thunderbolt, bigger battery, better keyboard, lighter (as they can use aluminium-carbon fibre for the case)

Personally I don't think they're worth the extra money. But check the Dell Outlet store. They tend to refresh it on Mon-Wed morn.
