  These are awesome (I have one sitting next to me right now) BUT if you plan on using it to listen to music then spend a bit more and get the JBL Link View. The Home Hub is great in the lounge & bedroom though, a definite step up from the home mini.

  Can stream music to other devices over the network or Bluetooth with this, so if you have compatible speakers it's a decent device. We won ours from Woolworths. The screen is great for photos/digital photo frame and it goes to sleep when you wish it goodnight.

  Does anyone know why the Google home mini will respond to "Play ABC world news" yet a Google home hub responds with "I'm not sure how to help with that yet" - or another of those generic error messages, are these devices reporting back to different servers with access to different feeds depending on their model? Both are connected to the same google home account and on the same wifi network etc.

  If anyone's interested, you can stream anything that VLC can play, like your IP camera's rtsp stream or any video file, through your computer with this:

  vlc "rtsp://username:[email protected]/Streaming/channels/101" —sout "#chromecast" —sout-chromecast-ip=192.168.y.y —demux-filter=demux_chromecast

  I use the syntax above to view my Hikvision IP camera on the Home Hub. It does not work with the Lenovo Smart Display though.

    Haven’t tried yet, but it seems ezviz(Hikvision consumer brand) can be shown on hub by voice command.

        As long as it is international version, should be supported.
        I ordered DS-2CD2443G0-IW as baby monitor, and realised later chromecast does not support rtsp. Mjpeg does not have sound.
        I want to send camera feed to GHH when there is audio event by home assistant, options are rtsp to hls server or android tasker via tinycam. I dont like those options(reliability). I may just use old phone as monitor if it wont work.

    No. The sound quality on the Google Home Hub is really only considered to be marginally better than the Google Mini.

  BTW, if you're feeling lucky, you can wait and see if TGG leaves their Home Hub at the $178 price tomorrow morning. They're having a 20% sale that'll drop it to $142.40.

  Just be mindful with this code. I applied it and it showed as so but the final amount that came from my paypal was $210.79. Not only didn’t the code work but they charged me postage (yes I’m a eBay plus member) even the tax invoice states the $210.79 price.
  This was what the PayPal Facebook messenger told me. On closer inspection of my paypal account it looks like I was charged the discounted price. Will wait to see how much comes from my account.

    Nothing new as the invoices for eBay codes have always shown the full price but charged the discounted price.
