Thank you! Just got me one for pick up.

    • So much for me doing C&C, Was told the TV has to be upright on the journey home or the warranty is void… even being on a slight angle was no good.

      • That must void a lot of warranties cause every weekend I see people laying them flat.

      • I picked mine up from Good Guys Hoppers Crossing and the delivery employee at the back laid it flat in my car even though there was enough space to place it up right. I drive a CRV.

  • Is this the cheapest its ever been?

    • I know there was a binglee deal 80c cheaper, not sure beyond that.

  • Is it worth the extra $237 for the P7?

    • +2

If you plan on taking advantage of HDR content often then probably (or wait for a better P7 deal). If not really then I'd suggest that money better saved.

      • Hi mate. Just wondering if this TV would be comparable to OLED? I know there is massive price difference but I don't know much about TVs. Thanks heaps.

        • +2

No, OLED are superior especially wrt to blacks, viewing angles, power use, and for the most part picture quality. But like always with TVs model to model the variances can be significant. Would you appreciate/take advantage of OLED vs LED is perhaps the question to answer in order to justify spending $1500+ for it. For me personally the price/benefit is not there yet.

          • @Xizor: Thanks. That is helpful. I have a 5 yr old Changhong that I purchased for $550.

            • @stockastics: I assume that was an LED or LCD as well? If so this would be a nice upgrade. My main issues with LED relate to sports like soccer, imperfect back-lighting (common, irrespective of brand) can cause what is known as a dirty screen effect as the image pans from side to side. But bang for buck its hard to complain.

              • @Xizor: Yes. LED. I was a poor uni student so could only afford the Changhong. Now might be time for an upgrade..just confused whether to spend a little more and buy OLED that will last 5-6yrs..

@stockastics: Best thing to do is take a memory stick with some tv/movies into a store and try them out. After that you can hover on here for deal.

      • The P6 does have HDR

        • +1

HDR yes but not HDR Plus/10 (bit brighter, more colours). For that its the P7 model.

    • Where is the P7 available for $876?

  • How is this TV compare to this Hitachi here:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Hitachi-55UHDSM8-55-139cm-UH…

    • Does not seem to be much out there about it so more of a gamble. Hisense is a lot more of a known quantity in terms of lots of feedback online from buyers and on forums.

  • What's your input on using this TV as a pc monitor for web browsing and gaming.

I could use the larger size and honestly this seems more value than going for a 32 inch and 1080p only at least with this I get almost double the size and 4k even just wondering about input lag and if it had chroma subsampling 4:4:4 for pc monitor text usage.

I have the space to use it no problem just need advice on if this has bad input lag or what.

Doubling as a normal TV is just icing on the cake kill two birds one stone.

    • Yeah NFI. Maybe hit up whirlpool forums plenty of owners there.

      • Thanks mate no worries yeah whirlpool sounds like a good idea probably an existing thread also I should have went there first.

        Good luck with everything.

        • how did you go?

          • @191919: No energy or time yet to check it up after this I went on a ride for something else but it is shortlisted on my list of tvs.

            On the backlog for research.

Yes!!!! Thank you for the post.

Ended up buying one and picking up in the next few hours.

Can’t wait to see how the quality is. Will be using it as a second TV in the living room.

Let us know your thoughts! :)

      • Hey, finally ended up wall mounting the TV. I had to go to Bunnings as the TV need M6 screws and I had M5 from the previous TV. I got the M6 with mushroom head and that worked.

TV is up and the quality is really good for what I paid for - $639!

Enjoying the Netflix and Yourube button on the remote for quick access. Watched MKPHD video and great video quality. Sound is better than what I expected.

All in all total bang for the buck.

  • Looking at buying ine of these. Im coming from and old plasma and will only be watching foxtel and a bit if sport.

How does the tv look witb sportskke soccer afl cricket etc through foxtel. Dont care about free to air tv.

    • LED tvs are generally inferior to a good plasma for sports, in particular soccer. A good plasma handles motion better in particular panning. ie side to side panning over a solid colour will expose any imperfect backlighting which is pretty random but not uncommon (irrespective of brand). I came from 2 plasmas to LED and for sports its an adjustment but for most everything else these are unreal value (4k, HDR, apps etc). If my bedroom plasma died today id buy this in a heartbeat.

Looks like price now increased by $77 to $716 after the PGUYS20 discount.

    • Bugger - expired it.

      • A shame indeed, but you made a very good find.

  • Can they actually put the price up by $100 to $895 during a promotion?
    Thats unfair.

    • I just shot a message to The Good Guys saying as such, if I have luck getting the price back down to $795 pre discount I'll let people know.

Might try calling the retail store as well tomorrow, see if they'll match.

  • I was thinking jb hifi may match the $795 less 20% if i showed them the discount code.
