Hey folks came across this Xiaomi branded rechargeable glue gun and thought i would share. This is cheapest price i could find its about $38+ GST on Aliexpress. The pack also includes 10 glue stick and a USB cable to get you started.

Arguably you could just get the rechargeable unit from Bunnings its around the same price but i like the Xiaomi model as it uses a micro USB cable as its charge cable and its smaller and looks cool.

    Can you please explain?

charging treasure can also be charged.

    • That's a cut and paste i already removed this statement.
      -Quickly out of glue.

When you figure it out let me know.

Hmmm… quickly out of glue makes more sense than treasure. I’ll keep brainstorming…

Edit: I think it can used with this

    • It’s like something Terrance and Phillip would say…

    • lost in translation

    • I think it means can be charged with powerbank

  • Dumb question(s) of the weak.
How strong is using a glue gun compared to using Silicon sealant as a glue, or Max bond and the like.
What do people use these for in everyday life.

Hey mate i watched a video on YouTube about glues its defiantly worth a watch if you can handle it lol. Probably not every ones cup of tea lol.

Hot glue is not that strong overall as in bonding strength but it dries almost instant which is a major advantage. When saying that each glue has its advantages and disadvantages. Say for example hot glue could have better bonding strength in a lateral force situation compared to another glue.

I mainly use hot glue for electronics reinforcement and waterproofing. I bought some solar outdoor lights from Aldi i took them apart and applied hot glue on the solder joints as they are likely to get corrosion issues from moisture. I used hot glue to build a hobby house with my niece out of paddle pop sticks. I hot glued my rug down probably not recommended if you like your carpet. Its great for general repairs.

Informative video of bonding properties of different glues👍

    • Haven't had much success hot gluing electrical equipment like mains plug packs - after disassembling. Plastic keeps falling apart exposing wiring.

May need more practice or better plastic glue stick. Will probably go back to using glue.

Had bought this 150W high-power 140-220°C adjustable temperature hot glue gun for these tasks.

Used them in art space in Japan assembling craft - material, paper etc - worked great as dries so quickly.

I'm guessing you want them sealed for good? If so just use gorilla or good old super glue. For tougher tasks I use epoxy.

        • Need access for repairs to small wireless charging base, which is suspended from power point. Being plastic, some glues won't hold (superglue failed in a day) & permanent bond is not wanted.

Bottom panel was held by screw, but replacement mains circuit board was designed for a different case - can't accept screw. Little room for a solution except glue.

Have successfully used electrical tape for over a year, but a better solution was needed. Hot glue failed twice in a week, with panel falling to floor exposing live wires - so won't try again. Until I can modify the case to take a screw again - am using good electrical tape which hasn't failed before.

          • @INFIDEL: Well if the plug pack is warming up during use, the hot glue will soften and weaken its bond.

Maybe try something like B-7000, cheap from Aliexpress.

            • @bamzero: Had considered the effect of heat on hot glue. A little warm to the touch, but less than old plug packs. 1 piece of electrical tape along join has held them firmly secured for over a year - so not that hot.

Heat is possibly why these circuit boards are failing after about a year. Will try fitting a screw mounting & add ventilation.

IME most hot melt has lousy bonding properties. But it is very useful as a filler / potter and therefore good for creating mechanical connections between parts which are appropriately interlinked.

        • Yes - fills holes great (screw hole in case needed filling for electrical safety, as screw could not be used with replacement circuit board).
Great for craft applications. Useful for holding things in place like wires inside cases. But lousy at holding plastic together.

  • GST included?

    • Hey mate my original post i posted the price with the GST but the admin changed it back so I'm not sure how it works. Its around 31AUD with GST.

      • no probs mate. I bought it anyway. :)

  • Like the idea of 15 second warm up and extra 15 minutes runtime on the Ozito, but just looks bulky to work with…
